When he is framed for the murder of a former lover, Dylan Sanders turns for help to a beautiful psychic who, haunted by her own past, holds the key to finding the real murderer.
Barbara's love of writing developed out of a love of reading. Growing up in an all-boy neighborhood, she spent quite a bit of time reading through her mother's large library, many of which were romantic novels. After graduating from the University of California at Santa Barbara, she went into Public Relations, but soon discovered that writing was her true passion.
Barbara was traditionally published for many years, then formed her own publishing company FOG CITY PUBLISHING in 2011 and has since sold over 10 million books! She has published 75 novels ranging from mystery thrillers to romantic suspense and contemporary romance.
Her book SUMMER SECRETS was a #1 New York Times bestseller! And twenty-five other novels have also appeared on the New York Times and USA Today Bestseller Lists. She is currently writing two ongoing series, a contemporary romance series set in Whisper Lake and a romantic suspense series: Off The Grid: FBI Series. She is also known for her bestselling Callaway Family Series, which offers up fourteen books and two novellas.
When Barbara isn't writing or publishing, which isn't very often these days, she is playing tennis, hanging out with friends and family in beautiful Lake Tahoe or reading books!

This was a good read but I have to say book one 'Silent Run' was my favorite.
The story-line was a bit different and something I don't readily believe in, but I enjoyed the journey and the main characters.
If you were to ask me what kept this from being a 4 to 5-star read the answer is this: I hate it when you know that a guy and gal are going to end up together (figured that out in book one) and they've met and spent some time in each others company, yet before he sees her again at the wedding he has had at least another one-night stand. Once a couple has met I hate it when the man has been with another woman/women...drunk or not. That is no excuse. His drunken choice of a one-night-stand is the same woman he ends up being accused of killing so it was a mess. It wasn't like it was just brought up once but we had to hear about the ONS throughout the book. So for the rest of the book Dylan's whoring around attitude made me uncomfortable and took away from the enjoyment of the story. It is one of my triggers and it eats at me. Let me add that I feel the same way when a woman is with another man. It's a two way street.
I also want to interject that my rating reflects a disconnect with the ending. I saw no way to have had any chance to be suspicious about who the murder suspect would be because he/she was in the story once for probably a few sentences so we really didn't know him/her and had zero information on them.
I won't be rereading it again. I thought the last couple of chapters caused the book to flounder, leaving me with a bad taste in my mouth.
This book started off with a bang and it kept right on delivering fireworks right up until the end. Then it went kind of flat for me.
Okay, I'm a stickler for factually correct. It kind of lost me when the police procedural aspects went to total fiction. If there's a suspected murder or foul play and it happens to someone from another jurisdiction, they're at least going to do a welfare check. There's going to be something. It wasn't as off as Silent Run, but it was off. The writing and heart stopping pace took me past that, but it was still in the back of my mind.
The ending tied the threads of both Dylan and Catherine together and it was right out of a Lifetime movie -- highly improbable. I started to wonder if I had the wrong genre in my mind because all those family connections all interwoven just took the story down on me. It was just too pat and unrealistic. It wasn't even fun to read. It was just too incongruent with the rest of the story.
Silent Fall is book two in the Sanders Brothers series by Barbara Freetly. Dylan Saunders was looking forward to seeing friends at a wedding in the mountains. Dylan was enjoying himself until a former lover appears at the Wedding and lure him outside to talk. Dylan woke up the next morning the woman was dead, and he is the prime suspect. Dylan starts to investigate and ask for assistance from Catherine Hilliard, a local psychic. The readers of Silent Fall will continue to follow Dylan to find out what happens.
I enjoy reading Silent Fall. I engage with this book from the first page, and I could not put the book down. I love Barbara Freetly portrayal of the characters of Silent Fall and how they interacted with each other throughout this book. Silent Fall is well written and research by Barbara Freetly. I like the way Barbara Freetly describes the settings of Silent Fall that complements this book's plot.
The readers of Silent Fall will understand the role of psychic in law enforcement investigations. Also, Silent Fall's readers will learn the devastation for people framed for a crime they did not commit.
it was intriguing and exciting and then the end came and i wanted to throw it across the room! it was a horrible ending and it was just so flat. it was almost like the author got tired of writing and decided to just throw anything in there and leave it! very frustrating because it could have went so much further.
Dylan and Catherine are both lost souls convinced that their lives would always have a void no one could fill, until the past comes back with a vengeance...to haunt them and to hunt them down. A great story about trust and perseverance. Silent Run is the first book of this very well written duo. Enjoy!
I never saw that coming; there wasn't a hint anywhere on the person of the real villain. Being the case, this for me is a well written suspense thriller. I wasn't so thrilled though on the romantic parts as I felt they were too lengthy for their significance to the story.
I love Barbara Freethy's writing, and this book was no exception. The mystery-story line held me enthralled, and I loved the dream sequences skillfully knitted into the story line. Adding in psychic ability is always tricky, but Freethy does it seamlessly.
A great blend of suspense and romance, with a dash of paranormal via psychic visions. Dylan and Catherine both have had a rough childhood and this are hesitant to open up to others, but due to circumstances they can’t control they end up needing to rely on each other. This story is fast moving and full of vivid scenes both present and past. The connection between them was full of chemistry and an odd element that connected her past and his present problems. The twist at the end was fantastic and I did not see it coming. I loved that they found each other and were able to solve their past and current problems.
Wow! This book kept me on my toes. After meeting a women who has visions and nightmares, Dylan thinks he should go the other direction and fast. However, that is not what was meant to happen. Catherine didn't need anyone else in her life, she was doing what she wanted to do despite the nightmares and visions. She did't have time for Dylan and the visions she seemed to keep having. When the two of them have to team up for strange reasons the story just gets more interesting with each turn of the page. Mystery and suspense with plenty of twists and turns.
Well this book was a complete surprise and a great suspenseful mystery. Dylan Sanders was at his brother’s wedding when he ran into a woman he had met in his past. He had been warned by his sister-in-law’s best friend that there were two women coming into his life, one would bring danger and the other would bring salvation. You have to read the complete story to known that Catherine Hilliard knew what she was talking about. Great who-done-it.
Dylan is a news reporter and is being framed for murder. Catherine is an artist and has a gift of visions. Their life paths are interconnected while they work together to prove his innocence. I have read other books of this author and enjoyed them immensely but this one was a little far fetched for me. Especially when Dylan has just vomited and they share a soul stirring kiss, yuck.
The conclusion to this story was satisfying. I loved the heroine in this book. She did not let fear stop her from helping Dylan. She was no pushover. Dylan was carrying around so much pain from his childhood. It shaped all of his interactions. I liked that was he was on the trail, he was committed to the end.
A nice sequel to Silent Run, but the ending was so loaded with coincidence and ridiculousness that it really should be a 2 1/2 I had to roll my eyes frequently in the last few pages, and the major surprise was not really a surprise at all. I raised my rating to 3 because I enjoyed most of the book and I liked the two main characters. But the ending was terrible, and made absolutely no sense.
It was a good story, but the search for Erica went on too long with too many twists (his dad) & turns (his colleague). It was interesting, but Dylan seemed like such a tortured soul throughout much of the book. I thought first book was better. Or maybe because I read them back-to-back, I should have taken a break in books with long searches.....
This book pulled me in on the first page. I couldn't put the book down. I wanted to know-had to know-what was going to happen to Dylan and Catherine. I'm glad that Teresa was mentioned in the book and that you got a glimpse of what happened in her life. I would really like to read about her.
Loved Silent Run, really enjoyed this one. Only wish there was another one but there's not. Liked the characters, the sexual and intimate connections between Catherine and Dylan.
This book was totally predictable and overwritten. I did finish it to the end but glad it was last in the series. I have read other books of hers and liked them much better.
I liked the characters in this book.. but was bored reading it until I was over half way done with the novel.. There was a lot of excess that could of been left out, which would made this a lot smaller book...
The tension begins in the first chapters d never let's up. There are several false turns and I had no clue who was actually responsible , it came,as a complete surprise. I am looking forward to reading more Barbara Freethy
There were a lot of twists and turns in this story and overall I enjoyed it. Catherine is a great character and both she and Dylan grow and develop throughout the story. Their romantic relationship was believable.
Another great thriller by Barbara Freethy. The plot in this one was a little strange but the story kept me interested with all the twists and turns right until the end. Just enough steamy romance to break up the scary parts.
Dylan and Catherine sure know how to have a good time!I don’t know when I’ve read a book with this many twists and turns and as Dylan’s mother says, it’s not who you think it is! Great book!!
