Since Lightroom first launched, Scott Kelby’s The Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Book for Digital Photographers has been the world’s #1 best-selling Lightroom book (it has been translated into a dozen different languages), and in this latest version for Lightroom 4, Scott uses his same award-winning, step-by-step, plain-English style and layout to make learning Lightroom easy and fun.
Scott doesn’t just show you which sliders do what (every Lightroom book will do that). Instead, by using the following three simple, yet brilliant, techniques that make it just an incredible learning tool, this book shows you how to create your own photography workflow using Scott knows first-hand the challenges today’s digital photographers are facing, and what they want to learn next to make their workflow faster, easier, and more fun. He has incorporated all of that into this major update for Lightroom 4.
It’s the first and only book to bring the whole process together in such a clear, concise, and visual way. Plus, the book includes a special chapter on integrating Adobe Photoshop seamlessly into your workflow, and you’ll also learn some of Scott’s latest Photoshop portrait retouching techniques and special effects, which take this book to a whole new level. There is no faster, more straight-to-the-point, or more fun way to learn Lightroom than with this groundbreaking book.

Having read Scott Kelby's - The Digital Photography Book 1-3, I knew what to expect in his guide to Adobe Lightroom 4. I have to say that I am less than enamoured with his talky, jokey writing style but the facts are clear and he is very straightforward and methodical in his explanations, exactly what is needed for what is, after all, a practical text book. So, sight unseen, I chose Scott Kelby's Lightroom book over other possibilities. It delivered. The presets that come with the book via download from his website are welcome too. There are some interactive lessons also, but I understood enough to work on my own photos, so did not use them. His book has greatly improved my understanding of Lightroom 4. I had a jokey lecturer at college too, he used inane analogies about beer drinking and football. Scott Kelby, to me, is like the American version of that lecturer. Annoying - yes, but passionate about his subject, and I learnt a lot.
Excellent book - easy to read instructions and beautifully illustrated book that explains how to use Photoshop Lightroom to edit photos on the computer. Must have book if you have Lightroom.
I would certainly not recommend this book for a novice. The author has no clue how to teach the very basics of beginning to understand how Lightroom works. Unless you have a photographic memory, can memorize 488 pages before beginning, you are out of luck in understanding Lightroom. Suggest you find another book on the subject. Again, useless book it was for myself.
Exceptionally well laid out and easy to follow tour of Lightroom 4. Kelby shows you his own workflow while giving you the tools to set your own preferences. This book does a great job at unlocking all the potential of Lightroom.
This book was recommended via many websites as the best for learning Lightroom and I don't regret buying it. It is an easy book to read and has a logical progression for learning the right info at the right time. I recommend this book for anyone learning Adobe Lightroom.
Like many of Scott's books I like this one as well. Someone else said it too, you love his humor or you hate it (the jokes are probably better in the original language :P ) but his knowledge and way of explaining it all are great.
useful. Kelby is American and has a 'cute' American sense of humour which is fine if restrained but if not, gets old very quickly. However, these sections do announce themselves quite loudly and can be bypassed without further undue harm to the psyche.
