Raising three sons and running his ranch keeps single dad Jared McCreedy busy from sunup to sundown. Becoming involved with feisty single mom Maggie Tate is not on his to-do list. But he needs her help dealing with his youngest son's learning problem. Like Jared, Maggie doesn't want any romantic complications in her life…especially with a man whose take-charge attitude makes her temper flare—and her pulse race. But the risk of opening her heart is great and she has her daughter to think about. Then again, it is the season for faith and miracles….

Sweet Christmas romance between two single parents who meet when their young children get into trouble at school. As they start to work together helping each other out, they begin to fall for each other. Although the ending of the story seemed to wrap up a bit too quickly, this was still a nice heartwarming read with likable characters and the festiveness of the holiday season.
In my opinion, not enough books are written with ADD/ADHD characters.
Jared McCreedy has just started to come out of the dark period he fell into after his wife passed away. He is taking now a more active roll in raising his three young boys, the youngest one of which, Caleb, can become a handful. He reluctantly seeks advice from another parent, a widow Maggie Tate, as to how to navigate Caleb's behavior. Jared did not mean, however, to get thoroughly involved in Maggie's life nor to need someone like her in his life.
I liked how the book had such a positive attitude towards Cassidy and Caleb, the two children with the behavioral disorder. Even when they were in trouble, the scenes lacked criticism or derision, but underlined patience and understanding towards people who are different. Beside this conflict, the story also dealt with the reason for Maggie's lack of prayer life, her strained relationship with her mother-in-law, struggles of being a single parent on a tight budget, and a mystery Grinch who kept stealing presents in this close-knit community.
Once Upon a Christmas is a kind-hearted, encouraging, inspiring, and, in many ways, an eye-opening read.
Come in and meet Maggie and Jared, two single parents with a lot of things going on in their lives. Both have a child that needs help, getting that help can be difficult, Jared's brother Joel is marrying Beth, the love of his life right after Christmas. Break ins make life even more difficult. You must read this book, get to know the people of this small town, see how they help each other, see how they fall in love.
Cute story about a widower and widow who meet and fall in love. Lot's of other things going on in the story too.
I believe this is part of a series, or at least it seems like it could be considering some of the side stories that are talked about at different places in the book.
Once Upon A Christmas by Pamela Tracy Book 2 The reader first meets Jared McCreedy in the first book, Once Upon A Cowboy. Widowed four years earlier and left with three sons to raise Jared had just started to work harder to escape his memories. Now it’s been pointed out to him that his youngest son, Caleb, may need some special help with his learning. And that the new gal in town may be able to help him. Jared is sure some extra attention is all Caleb needs.
Maggie Tate is enjoying living in the small town. She’s met some new friends and is building her business. What she doesn’t need is church or another man like her late husband. She found out God does answer prayers and it’s scared her enough to stay away from Him. And Jared seems to be the type of guy who’s too serious and too controlling. But how can she not interfere, oops not interfere, help this man with his son?
They both have a past to fight and issues to work through, but it seems that opposites attract and that it’s definitely pulling Jared and Maggie the same direction. http://justjudysjumbles.blogspot.com/...
What a lovely story. It was great to know that even though your wife or husband passed on it doesn't mean you cannot find true love again. Sometimes people tend to walk with there eyes closed and not look at whats in front of them. Because they are scared to forget about the spouse that passed on. Really loved the ending. I love stories that end with a happily ever after.
