This story was written as a part of the M/M Romance Group's "Love is Always Write" event. Group members were asked to write a story prompt inspired by a photo of their choice. Authors of the group selected a photo and prompt that spoke to them and wrote a short story.

About the author

Kim is a thirty-three year old bisexual submissive from Wales (UK). First published in 2008, she has since released almost 100 BDSM erotic romance titles ranging from short stories to full length novels. Having worked with a host of fantastic e-publishers, she has just moved into self publishing.

So nice - this is definitely one of the stories Dare does best... the sweet, hopeful submissive who falls for a gruff, older Dom. There's always a HEA and usually with very little angst and great chemistry between the two.

The story was okay; another one that appears to be outside of my comfort zone; this means a BDSM story. It was a quick story, well written and the characters were kind of larger than life for me. I do like the leather! Luke and Jay seemed to walk into the relationship with both eyes open; from what I understand, that takes trust. I suppose we all could benefit from that.

Awww, you’ve got to love the big, bad, toppy guy with a soft spot! Luke was definitely more a man of action vs. a man of words, but his message came across nonetheless:) I loved Jay’s all around eagerness to please – just a sweetie. As usual, I loved this Kim Dare special story – great stuff!!!

2.5 stars maybe. I kind of liked it, was well written. It is really only two sex scenes though. A small opener followed by two sex scenes and a small closing scene. no depth or development or anything I'd expect in a story.

Not the most erotic Kim Dare story... more a character piece. Very short free read, painting a relationship of a timid inexperienced sub to his controlled, popular master, who maybe isn't as in control as he seems.

3.5 stars This is extremely short, but that works for what it it. The first scene comes directly form the prompt where the sub tells the Dom he loves him and the Dom laughs (although not cruelly). It immediately flashed back to when they met. I was annoyed at first cuz I thought it wasn't going to back to first scene and have emotional resolution, but fear not, it did just that and it was actually pretty sweet. The two middle scenes are their first two times together, both are quick but appropriately hot. I actually appreciate that, while the story is mostly comprised of sex, the sex doesn't drag. Good, short, and hot with a sweet little HFN ending. What more can you ask for?

I'm plodding my way through last years LIAW stories. I chose this one first in the volume 'because' it is short—I wanted a quick read—and I won't be complaining about its length, because for me it wasn't an issue (which I find is often not the case with shorts). The story achieves what the author set out to do. It is surprisingly well rounded despite its length, and gives amazing insight into the characters with so few words. Well done Kim. I haven't read any of your other stories, but I'll be keeping an eye out.

I don't think I have ever read a Kim Dare story that I complained about and this one is no different. The fact that is was short didn't bother me for one min. All I can really say is that it was just as cute and sexy as all her other stories are. If you ever want more it just cause the you really liked it not so much because stuff didn't add up in the end. So even if it was short it just worked.
