It Doesn't Have To Be This Hard
Mile High Heat, Book 1
By: Christina Hovland
Narrated by: Rupert Channing, Addison Barnes
Christina Hovland pens another fabulous novel, a romantic comedy that grabs captivates your attention from start to end and tugs at your heartstrings, too. That opening scene with the dumpster fire was hilarious, and it was only one of many hilarious scenes. Emmaline Eaton moved back to Colorado with her ten-year-old daughter Fiona, leaving her ex-husband behind in Beverly Hills. She had no interest in him or his world anymore, and preferred to stay out of the limelight. Settling into her new house, just far enough away from her meddling family, but close enough when she needs their help, which is fairly often, since she tends to get herself in to some messes. For example, that fire, but it did bring out her nice looking neighbor, an Aussie with a nice accent, Ethan Greene. And he has a daughter, Annie, the same age as hers and the two hit it off. Annie is trying to play matchmaker to find a girlfriend for her father, and he trended on social media so women are always propositioning him. Emmaline and Ethan hit it off and they team up together to get their parents together, but neither is looking for a relationship. Emmaline is probably the only woman not throwing herself at Ethan, and since he is sick of all the other woman who are he asks her to be her fake girlfriend. She did not want to go there, but after seeing how much he got hassled, she gave in. So the two are in a fake relationship for show only until it isn’t. I loved how everything played out in this book, there is a perfect balance of drama, humor, charm, heartfelt emotions, and steamy romance. The writing, plotting and world building are fantastic, as are the character growth and development. Christina Hovland, thank you for another wonderfully delightful story and the emotional rollercoaster ride.
