About the author

Born in 1905 in Harlow, Middlesex, Mary Kathleen Harris was the daughter of Roland Edward Harris, and his wife Mary Mackey. She was educated at Harrow County School for Girls, from 1915-22, but did not pursue a higher education, caring for her ailing mother instead. Following her mother's example, Harris converted to Catholicism sometime shortly before the onset of WWII. They settled in Watford after the war, and Harris lived there until her death from throat cancer, in 1966.

Beginning in 1941, with the publication of Gretel at St. Bride's, Harris began to publish her children's books - approximately sixteen in number - some of them school stories, some girls' adventure stories, and some religious in nature.

برای سال های اوایل نوجوانیم که شیفته ی مدرسه های شبانه روزی و داستان هایی با پیچ و خم های ساده بودم داستان خوبی بود
داستانی پر از کلاس های درس، دروغ های کوچک و دوستی ها دخترانه
!جالب اینه که الان نسخه ی انگلیسی اش هم در آمازون سخت پیدا میشه. گلی امامی این کتاب رو از کجا پیدا کرده بوده که برای ترجمه انتخاب کرده

دلم خیلی برای این کتابای خوشگل و بی دغدغه تنگ شده بود! اول کلی حسرت خوردم که چرا وقتی کوچیکتر بودم نرفتم سراغش ولی الآن احساس می کنم آدم باید یه سری از این کتاب کودکا رو نخونده بذاره که هر وقت تو مشکلات "بزرگسالی" گم شد بره دنبالشون!:-) استفانی واقعا دوست داشتنی بود!:ایکس منو یاد خیلی آدما انداخت!:دی

حس کردم کلیت داستان یه چیزی تو مایه های کارای انید بلایتونه. مدرسه مالوری و سنت کلر. درسته که نثر این کتاب خیلی بهتر بود و برعکس آثار انید بلایتون حس کتاب خوندن رو به آدم می داد، نه وبلاگ خوندن، اما ماجراهاش رو زیاد دوست نداشتم. به نظرم داستان چنان جذابی نداشت و ته داستان هم از یکی دو فصل اول، با جزئیات کامل قابل حدس بود.
برای همینه که خوندن دوباره سنت کلر رو، با این که کتابای ضعیفی بودن و اصلا خودم توی گودریدز حسابی نقدشون کردم، به این کتاب ترجیح می دم. چرا که برای من، خوندن داستان جذابی که خوب نوشته نشده، جالب تر از خوندن داستان مسخره ایه که خوب نوشته شده.

a pretty book describing common life of a young dreamy girl, with fears and hopes of young girls living in dormitory.
it reminded me of the "Anne in Greengable"(was it the name?), and some other stories alike.
if you are a modern girl, it may be a little unusual, far from your life!
but as a middle-age or old woman, you understand it well
and in any age and lifestyle, you certainly will enjoy its sweet narration and naiiveness.

این کتاب از اولین کتاب‌های نسبتا طولانی‌تری بود که تو دوران کودکی خوندم. اونموقع شیفته‌ی مدرسه‌ی شبانه‌روزی بودم پس بهم خیلی مزه داد. داستان ساده و شخصیت‌های دوست داشتنی و حال‌وهوای خوبی داره.
این از سری کتاب‌هایی بود که مال پدرم بود و بعد به من رسید و به خاطر همین یه ذره بیشترتر دوسش دارم:دی
