This book is amazing. It is underrated in the literary world. Sérant's perspective persists nowadays. While I was reading, I felt I was reading the observations of a contemporary author and not of a writer that lived major events of the 20th Century: France occupation by the nazis, the Holocaust, the atomic bomb, the Vietnam War, the Algerian Independence War, among others. The problems that resulted from those events are very similar with the reality of 2026.
