John Zaffis is a world-renowned psychic researcher who has investigated thousands of reports of alleged hauntings and witnessed and assisted in over 85 exorcisms to date. He has witnessed and documented levitating furniture, physical attacks by unseen entities and many other inexplicable actions encompassing the supernatural and preternatural. Zaffis also has accumulated thousands of artifacts from case studies including haunted Voodoo dolls, sacrificial swords, and other eerie artifacts from the field. Shadows of the Dark is John Zaffis' extraordinary life story as documented through his case files. This written work is the life, testimony, and frightening recollection of one of today's top ghost busters.
A book for those seriously interested in demonology and not for the faint of heart. This book is intense in it's blow-by-blow accounts of demonic infestation and possession. I especially liked the first third of the book which I thought was quite unusual: " Interview with a psychic researcher." This is a question and answer interview with John himself and provides, in depth answers to many of the questions those interested in this subject wish to explore.
This was definitely an interesting read. Some of it did creep me out a bit, but I have always had an interest in the paranormal. Being that I have been around it (my family actually moved from a house when I was eleven years old because of it) I always am open to find out more about it. Zaffis is the nephew of famed paranormal researchers Ed and Lorraine Warren. Not that I find that to be really impressive, but it does validate his years of paranormal research. Whether it is all true or not, I have no clue. I take all this stuff with a grain of salt. However, the important thing is that it makes for a captivating reading experience.
Mr. Zaffis should have written the book himself. His experiences are very unique, and a couple of the cases were rather eerie. However, the main author, Brian McIntyre, can't write worth a damn. I'd say it's about 80-90 pages worth of material that has been expanded to over 200. He repeats things all the time, and stumbles over the English language for the entire book. And the editing...was it even edited? Who knows? It certainly doesn't look like it. There are typos and misspellings from start to finish. My 11 year old son could have done a better job.
I came up with this book after reading The Demonologist. It was a great read, very entertaining. John Zaffis describes different cases he participated in, many are really REALLY scary (remember Zaffis is Warren´s nephew). He also explains and gives tips on what to do and not, when you are dealing with dark entities, as one of the chapters is an interview done to him.
I found this book to be a true masterpiece of occult knowledge from firsthand experience of the dark world of demonology, john Zaffis is a true professional in the field being trained by the best paranormal team there ever was, Ed and Lorraine Warren, John brings all of this great wisdom and knowledge into work and presents it and a shocking and chilling way.
Love this man, have seen his him speak four times and met him in person several times. He is a awesome man to sit and chat with about anything. His book is a great book and I look forward to his other ones that are in the works.
A good book by a relative of Ed and Lorraine Warren. This is not overwrought or exaggerated like so many books on paranormal topics are. This is a basic set of stories of different investigations the authors have taken part in.
famed demonologist and nephew of the warrens, writes an interesting book regarding his work and a few of his cases. nothing too frightening here though which honestly surprised me.
Written by John Zaffis of my favorite TV show, "The Haunted Collector", this book is a must-read for anyone who is interested in haunted objects. (Jennifer)
