What a great ideas book! While primarily aimed at seniors that are either retired or about to retire, I think this book is great for anyone to read and get ideas for new things to try in your own life. The book is quite thorough and well thought out. I liked all the website and book references that can jump start your own research into a potential hobby or activity. Sometimes it got a little repetitive as some items over lapped categories so ended up listed several times. The items ranged from free or low cost to sky's the limit, from things to do at home to traveling the world, and everything in between. I highlighted many items myself for further review and to try out later.

This book is fantastic for anyone entering or enjoying retirement, including myself! When I picked up this book, I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but it turned out to be a goldmine of retirement inspiration. One of the standout features is the diverse range of ideas it offers. Seriously, when they say "hundreds of ideas," they mean it! Whether you're looking to stay active, nurture a positive mindset, or explore new horizons, this book has a lot to do.

The author's writing style is lovely. It's like chatting with a friend already living the dream in retirement. They share personal anecdotes that make the content relatable and enjoyable to read. The visual elements, like unique chapter illustrations, add to the book's overall appeal.

I was concerned about whether I'd find unique ideas. Not at all! The book has some standard stuff, of course, such as photography and hiking, but it also has many creative ideas and even some out-there things, such as building a fighting robot or drone fishing! Other things it covers are ideas for picking up a new hobby, joining local groups, or focusing on personal growth, and more. This book lays it all out. I also really liked that many of the ideas even have website links that take you straight to helpful sites to get more information or lead you to suggested books to dive into how to do something the book touched on, like making amigurumi crafts.

I'll be honest; I'm not a big reader, and I was worried it might be too dense since it's marketed as the ultimate book and has over 300 pages. But fear not – the book's friendly and encouraging writing style makes it a breeze to read or skim through for inspiration. All in all, this is one of the best fun things to do in retirement books I've read so far! I'm really looking forward to jumping into a few fun things I've found to do.

An inspirational book that can be used as a fun things-to-do reference if things start to get too routine in retirement! I loved the travel sections and the website references where the author has found other helpful sites that either dive further into a topic or suggest books to learn something specific (such as a how-to book on glass bead making). The book also has many unique ideas, such as drone fishing and building a fighting robot! The author shares his personal experiences and gives tips to help others for instance, he shares a breakdown of his average daily costs as a full-time RVer (and how to save) and how to choose the right cruise ship and destination. All in all, I highly recommend this book for any young active retiree.

As someone who recently retired, I can't emphasize enough how invaluable this book has been in shaping this exciting new phase of my life. Retirement can be daunting, filled with questions about how to fill your days and where to find purpose.
I like this book because of its emphasis on embracing retirement as an adventure and encourages you to step out of your comfort zone.
It’s also comprehensive and covers various topics, from travel and outdoor activities to health and wellness, social opportunities, hobbies, and even utilizing technology in retirement.
The inclusion of website resources suggested books, and practical tips adds immense value to the book, making it a comprehensive guide that I continually reference. Great book to have when you retire.

Chocked full of ideas!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! If you can’t find an idea (or 2 or 3 or 10) to enhance your retirement—then I don’t know what to tell you. Of course, there are some of the standard ideas, such as travel, improve your health, etc, but the author expands on those ideas and gives you resources to help implement them. I’m esp intrigued with the “travel the world” tips and ideas. It’s something I’m going to explore further with his resources. And there are SO many more ideas. If you’re feeling stuck in retirement, or getting ready to retire and are a bit nervous—this is the book for you!

I think this book is a must read before or during retirement. I found so many new, fun and interesting ideas including things near home and far away. There are things of interest for everyone, and with so many different kinds of choices, it motivated me to use the ideas in the book to totally enjoy my retirement and I know I won’t be bored. An added bonus is it gives access to website links and resources that provide additional information on ideas in the book. It was well written and includes a little humor that makes it fun to read.

One should be able to relax, focus on one's health, and pursue new interests after retirement, according to this positive view of the second half of life. Seniors who have been sitting around doing nothing will feel motivated to begin moving after reading this article. There is an informative introduction, numerous intriguing ideas, and reading suggestions at the beginning of each part. Not only for seniors, but anybody can benefit from the book's guidance on keeping in touch with friends, having fun outside the house, and enjoying others' company.

It is the Ultimate Book for life!

I recently retired and was so excited to find this book. It is full of so many resources to get you started on a great retirement. This book is more like a guidebook because it addresses retirement from day 1 and beyond. I felt pretty prepared when I retired, but after reading this book there are so many more items on my to do list , but it doesn’t feel overwhelming. You can read and apply or bookmark for later. I’m very happy to have this book and look forward to referencing it often.

You don’t have to be retired to get a lot from this book. I am a few years away from retiring and I can’t wait. I have a good idea of how I’d like to spend my extra free time but I was able to find activities in this book that I hadn’t even thought of. I like how this book makes me feel motivated to start new hobbies now and expand how I use my time. It’s easy to read and will make a great gift for my retiring coworkers and friends.

Great resource! I retired several years ago, and although I have never been at a loss for how to fill my days, this book has given me some great ideas. It is super positive and upbeat - a pleasure to read. I especially enjoyed the craft ideas. There is a useful intro to each section, tons of great ideas, and specific resources for the reader to explore. Highly recommend it if you are in need of some inspiration...and you don't have to be retired to benefit from this resource.

This is a great book on things to do in retirement. It starts out by outlining top regrets by say on their final day of life. Then it outlines things that most people say regarding living a good life such as fulfilling, purposeful, happy, involved, and balanced. I love the five steps to rockin’ the retired life-celebrate, celebrate, celebrate, relax, exercise more, prioritize fun, set a new budget, make plans and set goals, and create daily habits. I also love the saying in this book “You are only as old as you feel.” In this book, there are plenty of hyperlinks to go to for further information. I like that because I feel like the book has turned into a resource center. The book also focuses on health and ways to handle stress. It even provides hyperlinks for matchmaking for those who are single when they are retired. There are countless suggestions in this book to explore the retired life I was actually overwhelmed by all the material provided. S.C. Francis does a wonderful job covering everything. This is a must-read for people approaching retired life or people that are in the retired life.

Since I’d already read book two, thought I would go back to the beginning and read book one. They’re a good pair, some overlap, but both good in their own ways.
