The story is really picking up now, and to be honest, I think I’m getting a feel for these slightly shorter books. At least with this series, because it reminds me of a television show, and now I have to wait for the next “episode” to air.
Overall I enjoyed this book, maybe even more than the last one… unfortunately there was a scene consisting of forced consent that I was quite angry over. (By forced consent I mean a vampire mind controlled them into consenting, even though they didn’t actually want to consent, which to me is too close to Rape) I get the point that was being made, but it was unnecessary and quite a bit disappointing to me, because this story didn’t need that. And I do hope Angela is in the next book, and it’s not just Jack, I want to read about her adventures on the road with Mark and Rabbit.
Other than that, I really liked the book. Cassie Alexander is a good writer and she has created a world and a story worth reading. I could continue with listing all the great things about this series, but it’s best if you just read it for yourself.
If you enjoy paranormal stories featuring wolves, vampires, and who knows what else is out there in this ever unfolding world, and you don’t mind if the two main lead characters are not in a relationship together, then you should give these books a try.
I have to make a comment here to Ms. Alexander, I am mad at you for killing Paco, I knew you would after reading Blood by Midnight, but I will forgive you because…Spoilers:
He will need to be harder to kill with whatever’s been being held in that stone sarcophagus inside a giant metal cage in the mines. Whatever that is will be Trouble with a capital T.
