Rate this book
HAVOC...it was just supposed to be a theoretical attack against a super-power nation designed by intelligence operatives.

Only the threat becomes real when Cal Shepard and the Critical Response Team discover that a rogue group is bent upon unleashing HAVOC on U.S. soil.

Now, it’s a race against time to locate the terrorists before they can release a deadly chemical weapon. But first, Shepard and his elite cadre have to survive against an enemy as cunning and capable as themselves and with the will to succeed regardless of the cost.

The fifth book in the high-octane Search And Destroy Series by JT Sawyer.

I received an ARC and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

The story begins with Cal on a break traveling around when he receives a call to report back to headquarters. It seems that a person of interest was seen around the scene where a MI6 agent had died. In addition, two members of the task force that the MI6 agent was on had just died in an accident. There was one remaining member of the task force and Cal and yhe other CTR members were given an assignment to find the lone task force member and bring him in. Before Cal and his group could get there, another party was also on location. A firefight broke out and Cal was able to bring the individual to a safehouse. Un fortunately the group that Cal had got into a fight with learned the location of the safe house and proceeded to attack. Cal and his group were able to escape, unfortunately the person they rescued was killed. Before he died, he gave Cal a operation codeword.

Cal and his team were then sent to Florida where Cal met up with one of the Cuban gang leaders. With the information that he learned, Cal and his team went to Cuba to search a warehouse for clues. This trip proved worthwhile and as a result they were able to come up with a potential target which was related to the operation MI6 was involved with.

To learn why this operation was taking place, what Cal and his team discovered at the warehouse, where the event was taking place and how everything worked out in the end, then you need to read this book. It is a definite winner.

Standalone story and I've loved this series. I was glad to see the hero from Vendetta in this one, Nate. I think that's my favorite between the 3 different series I've read.

I wish the author had one of the villains and one hero have different last names. In the beginning I was getting Foley mixed up with Flynn. Yes, I'm old, but surely you can come up with different names that don't start with the same letter, and have same amount of letters.

Graphic violence and this author knows how to write those scenes. Great main and secondary characters that kept the story moving. The ending is fantastic and you won't be able to stop reading to see if the villains win.

No cliffhanger, HEA, suspenseful, twists and intrigue. I can see where the computer program is getting a mind of its own for future stories - scary!! Crude words used which is normal for this type of story.

I can't improve on the blurb, just giving you extra tidbits to decide whether to purchase. (ljb)

Settling In

In book 5, the author seems to be settling in to the beat and tone of the characters to tell a complex but well-plotted story. Visually descriptive (sometimes it’s hard to imagine what’s happening in a thriller, but Sawyer writes good visual descriptions. Dialogue is solid for the most part, with just a few preachy diatribes.

I enjoy reading thus series.

This series was fast paced and the adventures went to many countries but some out if the way areas. There was many places in the states that bring most of these concerns back home. Knowing the world is smaller and information is almost instant.
That makes these stories very prevalent.

I haven’t read JT Sawyer In a while, so this was a welcome read. Lots of threads for the different main characters. Good action and reasoning involved. Now I have to go back and read JT’s previous books! Enjoyable read. I recommend!

People are being mysteriously killed. Perseus thinks they are linked. Cal Shepard and Company find themselves in Florida, pursued by bad guys, and trying to stop a plan they know nothing about, but can bring about the collapse of the US.

Very exciting!

The Cal Shepard series has become one of my favorites. I love the camaraderie between the team member. Each member willing to cut up with another, then to throw caution to the wind & join someone on a death defying caper. Do not hesitate in grabbing this book you will not be disappointed.

Same as previous Cal Shepard books.
Clean, rinse repeat. An entertaining escape for a plane flight or on the beach.
I will continue this series.
