A Little Scattered in Places, But Lots of Prompt-Writing Guidance and Examples
While this book had a few bobbles, in general, I thought it was a reasonably well-done book that gets you thinking about how to craft your prompts for ChatGPT so you can get the results you're hoping for. Unlike other ChatGPT books I've read lately, this is not a high-level concept book. Instead, thankfully, the author tells you just enough of that before launching into specific prompts and results. Nothing trains you on the craft of creating good prompts than seeing them in action so you can learn from others’ successes (and failures), both what the prompt is and the results given back. Theoretically, this book is about how to engineer prompts to make money. Most of the book is that, but one chapter specifically is not about money-making ideas. That particular chapter is about how to use track GPT for studying. Great idea, though I wish the author explored more realms of study; most were about computers and technology.
The money-making ideas explored include prompts to help you write fiction and nonfiction books, organizational documents like policies and procedures, and affiliate marketing. You can even use prompts asking one AI platform to mimic others to create images. While, certainly, many ideas here can be used for making money, a lot of these could just be used for fun. For instance, one of the interesting things you can have ChatGPT do is rewrite something differently. Want to see how your CEO's vision statement would look if written by Shakespeare or as a limerick? ChatGPT could do that. Does your writing feel a little stuffy or formal when it shouldn't be? You can ask AI to rewrite it more casually or even with humor. I've only just started getting my feet wet with the whole ChatGPT thing, and I find it fascinating. This book certainly gave me a lot of ideas about how ChatGPT can be used to generate all kinds of useful information. I particularly enjoy the sections about asking ChatGPT to take on a role, like telling it to act like, say, a 20-year expert in climate change and tell you about a particular topic within that subject. You could then ask ChatGPT to rewrite that so a 5-year-old could understand it. Or are you interested in seeing how a farmer sees climate change? ChatGPT can role model this as well. So many possibilities!!
The book probably could have used the judicious hand of a good copy editor or developmental editor to help assure that things flowed better and the reader's potential problems and issues were addressed. Sometimes, the book skipped around from place to place without appropriate connections between sections in the same chapter. Despite these flaws, I learned a lot from this book, and it actually has my brain humming with ideas that I want to try out, both personally and professionally. If ChatGPT interests you, whether for making money or not, you might find this intriguing book and its information about how to craft prompts helpful…and crazy fun!

The book made good use of AI in its creation. My main criticism is that it does not provide the user with a good understanding of the process of prompt engineering. GPT did the heavy lifting but there isn’t enough guidance to users to expand the skill set.
