I thought this was a reread, but it's not the book I remember reading in childhood or the one I reread in my twenties. Bernard DeVoto has managed to resurrect wordy version of what I recall, adding his own ponderous and unnecessary introductions. How has Twain been a chore to read?

Mark Twain offers a classic commentary on the Bible and religion. He writes a thinking-person's commentary on many aspects of the Bible that are absurdly illogical. For adults.
