Structure, Function, Integration: Journal of the Dr. Ida Rolf Institute

Rate this book
This year marks the 50th volume of Structure, Function, The Journal of the Dr. Ida Rolf Institute®, and the first issue of the year, the March 2022 issue, focuses on the axial complex. Rolfers® are well known for working to alleviate back pain, and the axial complex articles are a window into the various ways of how this is done. From Mary Bond’s article “Your Spine Is Not a Column,” where the reader is invited to do movement explorations that free the sacrum, to the interview with John deMahy about his structural algorithm for the spine, readers will be treated to a range of information about how to enlighten their spine and the spines of their clients. Check out the article by the legacy faculty member, Jan H. Sultan, presenting how embryology informs his body reading of the neurocranium, spine, and sacrum. Speaking of embryology, this issue also has our ongoing column Letter from the Embryo, where Konrad Obermeier takes the reader on a journey “Home, Straight Home.” And our other column, Fascia Insights, features an interview with researcher Dr. Thomas Rosenkilde Rasmussen about his work directly measuring the third rhythm of the skull. The Perspectives section of this issue has quite a few offerings, two articles inspired by the 2016 Fascia Research Summer School, a discussion about inflammation in the context of manual therapy, an interview with Advanced Training faculty member Pierpaola Volpones, and a discussion about cultural humility in the therapeutic relationship.
