In the arena of self-destruction erected from the foundation of problem gambling, few rushes equal the adrenaline-charged spikes that rise higher and higher as seconds tick by after the money is put on the line. It is after the seven-out, the dealer's blackjack, the ball landing on 0, or the upset going final against the bettor, that the true horrors then begin to unfold. When the player who could not afford to step into the batter's box, to begin with, strikes out and is forced back deeper into the dugout of debt. Broad Street Tully offers a snapshot of what life is like in the economically fractured land of 1999 Lorain, Ohio when one is swallowed up within the ripple effects of damage inflicted far beyond the felt.
This story is both hilarious and depressing at times. Any gambler or casino goer would enjoy this story. A real page turner that I found myself not being able to put down. I recommend this book 100%. Ol' Tully will never learn!
If your from Cleveland Ohio you will really get this book and understand the characters. While reading I knew exactly where everything was and even at times thought yep, that's a Cleveland thing. If you ever lived with or dealt with someone with a gambling problem or in the same category. This story is relatable.
Oh Tully! Not a book I would normally pick up but I highly recommend this book! So good! If you know Cleveland or anything about gambling this is a good one to read.
