Robby survived. At least he has survived so far. The first living person he's seen since the end of the world might be the last. He's on his own and fighting for his life. Farther north, Judy is facing a different set of problems. The loneliness might drive her crazy before she figures out how to cope with the ramifications of Black Friday.
Ike Hamill writes fast-paced horror novels with strong, relatable characters. His books have gained a steady following amongst readers who enjoy his blend of sci-fi, paranormal, occult, and suspense. Whether focused on a small family trying to survive the move to a haunted house, or following a band of angry rebels determined to withstand an apocalypse, his stories draw the reader into the lives of real people in crisis. Readers are always sad to leave the characters behind when the book is finished.
Reviewers compare Ike to Dean Koontz and Stephen King—two of his favorite authors. His narrative often jumps between interwoven stories, presenting readers with a fresh perspective and keeping them guessing until the last chapter. Most of Ike’s readers are repeat customers. Pick up one of his books to learn why.
Novela konci stretnutim Judy a Robbyho.
This is a novella of about 50 pages that provides some backstory details for Extinct (the first book in the series) and Instinct (the second book in the series) regarding Robby, Judy and how they first met. In Extinct, there is a scene where Robby ends up at a rest stop, devoid of all life, or so it seems. In Extinct Black Friday, we get more detail of what happened at that rest stop. Not only do we get more of an understanding of how Robby’s thought process works, but also some insight into the plan that Robby comes up with to try and defeat what has taken over the Earth. The rest stop scene is unnerving in the best way, and we get to see a lot of Robby’s resilience in dealing with unexpected and tough decisions. In Extinct, we are dropped into the relationship with Robby and Judy that has already formed. In Extinct Black Friday, we come to understand who Judy was before the apocalyptic event occurs, what she experiences and how it shapes her at the time she meets Robby. This was a quick read and as always, I highly recommend anything written by Ike Hamill, but especially the Extinct series.
I couldn't really see any good reason that they had been excluded either To call this Book 3 of a trilogy is grossly misleading and had it not been set to a zero price, I would certainly have registered a complaint. Far more accurate to call it an Addendum, or similar, as it contains just a handful of chapters that were (for some reason) not included in the first books, where they belonged. I couldn't really see any good reason that they had been excluded either, they didn't take the story in the wrong direction, they added information about some of the characters and actually the storyline felt a bit like a jumping record because of their ommission. Unless you specifically checked the number of pages, you'd not realise from the title that this is certainly not a third book in a series.
This short novella filled in some gaps about how Robby and Judy met, but given the fact that it is so brief, these details could have been covered in the first book, Extinct. In fact, I think Judy's adventures could have been better developed in Extinct similar to the development of Robby and Brad. Also, the character of Kyle needed more development.
I would still recommend these few pages, however, nothing of the story line is lost if you never read this little novella. I was a little disappointed with it.
This book was, I feel an addendum to the following two books. I enjoyed it too. It gives you a look at what and how some of the characters went through and met. I have already started the 4th book in the series. Yes i am hooked. Ike Hamill is great at horror and not knowing what will happen next. I can usually figure out the next turn in a novel, but not this one. I love them and hope you will too.
Here I am again despite my complaints about this series. I'm at war about it because there's so much good in the characters that I enjoy knowing them. Then there's the plot. Its not a bad one because clearly it's readable and even suspenseful. There are just so many things that are unbelievable and unexplained. Even unnecessary sometimes! This was just a short book about Robby and Judy. It goes back in time. It was interesting.
I have enjoyed the series so far. I am about to begin the next part of the journey. It is so refreshing to find good clean books that hold your interest. If all his books are as good, I have found anewfavorite. Thank you Ike for these hours of escape from life's troubles. I loved them!
It was nice to have some background on Judy and Robby meeting. I like how it stopped, I would say ended but we know it wasn't the end. I still feel like we're missing how they got set up and the tigers that they met but this is part of what I thought was missing from the first book. Cant wait to see what comes next.
Fills in a few left out "scenes" from the first two books. By no means necessary reading, but definitely worth the time & dollar for the character development and insight.
I wondered if I'd gone insane for a few minutes. I knew that I already knew Robby and Judy, but here they were just meeting. This is a 'novelette'. (I think that's what he called it.) Just an interesting tidbit of backstory.
Robbie and Judy running in Parallel direction neither even knew the other existed. As the times moved in a questionable direction, these two fought to survive. A new world alone or together? Read this short story to fill in the gaps and how they meet.
This is just a few pages to tell the take of how Robby and Judy met. As short as these books are i think it could have been incorporated into the first book.
I really enjoyed going back and seeing what happened to Robby and Judy in more detail. Very import to the story I thought. If your gonna read the series this is a must read!
Short but sweet I enjoyed but not as much as first two in this series but it gave important background on two important characters.the more info the better to enjoy a book
The first two books in this series was absolutely fantastic and so gripping that they were extremely difficult to put down. This third book, not so much. Honestly after the other two, this one was a disappointment. I understand that the two characters, Robbie and Judy, play a strong part in the story, but less information on the beginning and another book dealing with life after Instinct would have been great. Enjoy the first two books and save your time and money on the third one. (Unless he writes another book to tell the continuing story).
Ike Hamill has created a fascinating world and in this novella we get a deeper glimpse into it. In this story, we learn about how Robby and Judy meet. We also learn about Robby`s interaction with Lyle before he met up with the group. It`s mentioned in Instinct but you don`t really get the full story. If you enjoyed the other stories, this is a great addition to the stories.
I read the first book and I am happy to say that this book answered question previously left unanswered .Would have preferred a longer book and have not found #2. Does anybody know how many novellas there are. I prefer books.
This was just a short novella that follows Robby and Judy the day after Thanksgiving in the first book, and eventually shows how they met. Each are followed through the trauma they each experience after the initial invasion and loss of loved ones.
