Very handy for figuring out the whys behind the Italian language. I've been learning through duolingo, and while I like the system (and the price is right) it doesn't give much explanation. This was a great help for understanding Italian a little better, and while an older edition from the library, mostly useful (although currency info and technology probably are much more useful in a newer edition)

Just finished working my way through The Complete Idiot's Guide to Italian by Gabrielle Euvino, 2nd Edition. Loved this book.

The grammar explanations are very clear, the examples are concise and detailed but not too detailed It is a great starting place for Italian. I used it as a supplement to Duolingo and Euvino's explanations are wonderful and helped fill in what was missing. The glossaries of vocabulary are well done. The exercises are straightforward. There are also cultural tips to help you understand and get along in country. Grammar Rules exceptions to rules are also included - a great start for beginning or reviewing your Italian! Loved it.

It's an excellent text. Unfortunately the 4th edition boasts online audio features to go with it , but this feature does not work. I found that very disappointing. Tried contacting the author but no luck. Otherwise I do think it's a great text for learning Italian
