Though written in the late 1990s, the book provides an interesting analysis of the challenge facing liberation theology in a globalized world. José Comblin does not pull many punches, not only in his critique of neoliberalism but also in his critique of outdated theology as well as some practices of liberation theologians. I don't agree with all his analysis and critique, especially his view that urbanization - the massive exodus of campesinos to the cities - is a fait acompli and efforts to look for something different are utopian. But it was well worth the read - though it is not an easy book to read.
