I haven't read (or seen) this book since the 1980's. It was the very first chapter book I read (in 2nd grade with Mrs Van Arnam as my reading teacher)! I can not attest as to the quality of writing, but I do know my 8 year old heart loved this book and read it over and over again.

I loved this book when I was little. I actually read it more than once, which is a rarity for me, especially when I was young.
