Opinion Breakdown
The Good: The premise.

The Not-So-Good: The conflict. Too fluffy and easy for me.

The Bad: The lack of connections. My connections to the characters. The connection between them. And my overall connections to the book. Didn't feel any of it.

Overall: I'm honestly surprised I finished this one tbh. It was so fluffy and actually pretty boring. The characters were meh, their tension was meh, the sexy times were meh, and the conflict was meh. Overall, I'm rating this below "just okay" because I really probably should've just called it quits and found a better book for me. This might be great for those of you that like the H falls for the h hard and expresses it easily, full of fluff, no angst type reads!

Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Ellie and Zach's story. Ellie gets a temp job as a new private practice doctor's assistant that she desperately need to save up money to go to Le Cordon Bleu. Zach is having some issues because he is enjoying this new time away from medicine to focus on writing the mystery novel he's been writing for a while but never had the time to commit to, so he keeps putting off Ellie and her attempts at helping him set up his practice to start seeing patients. They end up snowed in together and that is when their relationship changes and they start to develop feelings for one another. There are some sweet moments and some sexy times...and they get a HFN ending.

Point Of View (POV): This alternated between Ellie and Zach's POV.

Overall Pace of Story: Good, I never skimmed and I thought it flowed well.

Instalove: Kind of because it didn't feel all that developed.

H (Hero) rating: 2.5 stars. Zach. He was so...bland.

h (heroine) rating: 2.5 stars. Ellie. She was okay, I guess but her constant references to her previous relationship got really old.

Sadness level: Low, no tissues needed

Push/Pull: Yes

Heat level: Good. They have some good tension, chemistry, and scenes -- but not so much it takes away from the story.

Descriptive sex: Yes

OW (Other Woman)/OM (Other Man) drama: Not really

Sex scene with OW or OM: No

Cheating: No

Separation: Yes

Possible Triggers: Yes, but mild

Closure: This ends in an okay place but I would call it a HFN ending

Safety: This one should be Safe for most safety gang readers

Not bad. Not great. Kinda meh. The chemistry was off from the beginning and never improved. I thought that it was working on a slow burn but it never moved beyond embers.

The beginning was actually good as we delve into the lives of these characters. Zach is unhappy with his life as a doctor and struggling to find a way to embrace his love of writing without disappointing his famous doctor parents. Ellie is reeling from being tossed away by her longtime boyfriend/boss and finds herself struggling to reinvent herself. This is a perfect recipe for a love story.

Then, these two get stuck together for days in a quaint Scottish cottage and... well, nothing really happens. I mean, sure, they seem attracted enough to each other but I never really felt that sizzling chemistry. And that never improved over the course of the novel. It felt more like these two characters were lab partners assigned to solve the problems of each other’s lives.

This novel feel very much like the author had an idea for a series about successful brothers, knew exactly how she wanted to portray the first few then lost momentum and focus. This felt very phoned in which is a shame since the previous novels were pretty entertaining.

Despite the underwhelming storytelling, the writing from a technical standpoint is still good so I will move on and read this author again. This one was just a miss for me.

Once again, Louise Bay has thoroughly entertained me with one of her stories!

The building relationship between Zach & Ellie is not the only storyline going on in this book. Both characters have a growth path they have to push thru in order to have their futures come together and the author expertly crisscrossed all these paths seamlessly. Even with all the baggage that both Zach & Ellie were carrying within the story, it still had a *light* feel to it and I think that’s mainly because of the Cove family. I mean … ridiculous LOL does not even begin to give them justice. This family is hilarious, and I love how they’re incorporated in the story to add levity in all the right places!

I love this world that she’s building and I’m looking forward to reading how DR. CEO unfolds in August! There’s not a story I wouldn’t recommend that Louise Bay has written so you can start with this one or any other and I promise you’ll enjoy your experience :)

This was a fun and entertaining grumpy/sunshine, boss/employee romance that sees "perfect" Doctor Zach and office temp Ellie finding the courage to pursue their career dreams even if it means taking big chances.

Zach comes from a family of doctors and has always been expected to follow the family business but his true happiness lies with writing. Taking a break to finish his first book Zach retreats to a remote Scottish estate and Ellie tags along to assist.

Naturally a steamy, forced proximity situation develops and I loved seeing these two characters figure out how to be together and follow their dreams too. This works as a standalone and was great on audio. Recommended for fans of authors like Kayley Loring or Meghan Quinn.

i didn't like this book unlike the first one. the chemistry between ellie and zach where nowhere to be found, tbh. the first 40% of the story was zach writing his story and ellie cooking or doing mundane things to pass time. they barely interacted and if they did, it only lasted for a few minutes and all they talked about were things about zach's private practice.

you think their relationship will progress when they got stuck in a cabin, but no, it was still stagnant. he spends his day in his office writing and ellie cooking and waiting for him every dinner. they do small talks and at times it was awkward. then all of sudden around 42% they were kissing and zach said it was "long overdue" and i was like whaaaat? where this idea came from? the connection between them was purely professional and then they were kissing like they've snapped from doing a lot of self-control in the past week. it was so unbelievable and it only confused me.

i also think that ellie isn't over her cheating ex, she was still hurting but attracted to zach. so i honestly don't know where the sudden interest all comes from.

and the next half of the book is them being a "couple", for the life of me i can't buy this crap because the chemistry isn't even there. it seems forced and so unnatural.

overall, this is a 2.5 star for me. the plot isn't interesting neither the characters.

book info:
- no cheating / opd
- with 3rd act breakup (weeks long)
- grumpy/sunshine
- H (doctor/writer)
- h (aspiring chef)

I just couldn’t get into this one. I really just felt nothing between the characters.

The description of this book feels quite misleading, nowhere would I say I read anything indicating he was “Dr. Perfect, Dr. Aloof, Dr. Arrogant…” in fact, we know practically nothing about him being a doctor. I don’t even feel like the classification of grumpy sunshine is accurate. He never seemed grumpy, if anything he was struggling with his career choices. And she didn’t seem like sunshine, she was skittish and emotional and felt weak.

Thank you to Wildfire Marketing Solutions for sending me an ebook Advanced Readers Copy for me to read and leave an honest review

First comes Jacob, then comes Zach a.k.a 'Dr. Perfect'. Jacob kicked things off with a romantic-yet-humorous story in Dr. Off Limits , dripping with the forbidden romance trope I love so much, and throw in a little will-they-won't-they in there as well. All good things that came together to kickstart the series off with a bang. Now, we're paging the other Dr. Cove, Zach. Is he as perfect as he is made out to be? Or will all be revealed?

Before I get down to the nitty gritty, I'm going to talk about one of my favourite topics. Tropes. Tropes are in good supply here with a little something for everyone. We have:

✔ Strangers to Lovers
✔ Workplace Romance
✔ Forced Proximity
✔ Boss/Employee
✔ Medical Romance
✔ Opposites Attract
✔ Stranded
✔ Road Trip
✔ Hero With an Accent (British)

I have some top personal favourite tropes among this list, which thrilled me no end and I'm very pleased--personally--in how Louise wrote them into the story round her two main characters, Zach and Ellie.

Ellie comes to work for Zach under less than ideal circumstances for her, personally. As a character I could relate to her so much it was almost spooky, as there were so many similarities between the two of us. Relatability is few and far between for book characters on this level for me personally is rare, which is why I find her creation and execution in the story all the more special. She's someone who's more than down on her luck, and this opportunity working for Zach is literally her last chance at the prospect of the future she should have had many years prior. She needs it to go right because there's no where to turn from here, this is her plan A, B & C. But how can she hang onto the job she so desperately needs when she's stuck in a snowstorm, with her boss, in Scotland, while he's harbouring a secret that could threaten all of her carefully laid out plans.

Zach, not-so-perfect, is a doctor within his own field in a family full of medical professionals. With the odd exception. He's been wrestling with his own demons and decisions for longer than he himself admits he should have. Opening his own new door to a next step in his career has him halting in his steps more than advancing, though he decides to keep his doubts to himself and quite literally shut himself away in his office from his new assistant. Despite the wall between them, he can't tamper down the rising interest in Ellie and as such, he takes himself and his looming deadline up to Scotland for the peace and solitude he thinks he needs to get what he needs doing, done. Only, he didn't count his new assistant going the extra mile to deliver the goods to his very own doorstep.

The more that these two try to keep their heads and hearts out of the equation during their unforeseen--albeit temporary--living situation, the harder temptation and fate knock on the door to wake the two of them up. Soon enough, temptation is given into and the two of them are deeper within one another. This makes things twice as hard to crawl out of, when you're in so deep. One or both people get hurt, but this does make the reunion--and make-up bedroom time--all the more satisfying.

This novel holds within it everything I know and love about Louise, her writing/story style, characters and more. Her writing is some of the easiest to get in tune with in terms of flow, and the story flowed naturally here so much so that I finished it within 24 hours at a slow pace. Zach and Ellie are definitely up there with my favourite Louise Bay couples, and were some of the most relatable among them too. I don't think I can find anything I didn't love about this book, if I'm one hundred percent honest. It was just the definition of perfection.

From here, it's onwards and upwards. I'm looking at you, Dr. CEO

Zach Cove is a brilliant doctor who is also known as "Dr. Perfect." He has everything he could ever want: a successful career, a beautiful home, and a loving family. But he's not happy. He's lost his passion for medicine, and he's not sure what he wants to do with his life.
That is not entirely true.
He knows what his heart desires but taking that leap of faith and possibly landing face down is frightening.
That and his family
When fate gives Zach a chance to chase his dreams he grasps it.
Only it seems fate has another gift in store for him.

Enter Ellie. Ellie is everything that Zach is not: she's passionate, creative, and full of life. She takes the tough times, the uncertain moments, and sprinkles them with possibilities.

Ellie is immediately drawn to Zach, but she knows he's not interested in a relationship. Zach and Ellie are sort of forced (no spoilers) to spend some quality time together.

I so enjoyed the way these two clicked together. Nothing was forced they were the yin to the other's yang. I did get mad at some of the supporting characters, hard to see the forest and all that.
Dr. Perfect is a heartwarming story about love, second chances, and following your dreams.

It's been a minute since I've read my last Louise Bay and her style of writing suits me perfectly.

Zack and Ellie have come to a point in their lives where they have to make decisions that will have a huge impact on their lives. He's trying to find a way to start doing what he loves the most, and that's to be a successful writer. Ellie is coming off from a long term relationship with a man that left her with low confidence and deep scars. But she's determined to make her dream come true but she needs a job that will help her achieve it. But working for Zack is not what she expected. And when she's stuck with him in Scotland, feelings that they're both trying to fight come bursting out. The more they open up to each other, the more they fall. Soon both of their dreams are coming true, but they have to look deep inside to see that maybe, dreams without the one you love are not as good as they are with them.

It was hard reading about Ellie's self doubt, but Zack made sure that she sees she can count on him from thick and thin. Their HEA made so much sense it left me with a huge smile on my face.

Dr. PERFECT by Louise Bay is book Two in The Doctors Series. This is the story of Zach and Ellie.
Ellie is starting fresh after getting out of a long term bad relationship. Ellie has taken a job as Zach's assistant. Zach's family is very well known and he himself is a very in demand Dr. But, he has other dreams than what he is doing. These two are brought together and start seeing what could be. Enjoyed.

ugh. that wasn’t good

Ellie is the most annoying character I’ve read in a long time. I get her ex was abusive and it took time for her to heal. But it being said in every chapter over and over again was a complete miss for me. There was just no chemistry between Ellie and Zack. How could there be when all we heard about what Shane.
I wanted to like this book, but it was hard for me to finish.

Overall Rating - ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

Ellie has just come out of a long-term relationship, ten years. Where she did everything for her ex. She’s now single and trying to get back the life she wants, which is enrolling at Cordon Bleu, but first, she needs to save for it. That’s when she gets a job as Dr Cove’s new secretary.

Dr Cove (Zach) is setting up his private practice but isn’t putting his all into it, as he wants to write, and no longer be a Doctor. While setting up his new practice, he has some extra time since there are no patients, and chooses to write. An opportunity comes along that he can’t refuse and he takes off for a few weeks to write his novel. Ellie goes way beyond assistant duties and turns up at the house he is staying in, only to be snowed in with him.

This is such a sweet romance and I enjoyed it, although I felt it was missing something. I would have liked more sexual tension and angsty moments between the MC’s. I felt they didn’t have much time together on the page before they fell into bed together and fell in love.

I enjoyed elements of Ellie’s character, although her insecurities let her down and how reluctant she was to trust him and I thought there were too many mentions of how Zach did not want to be a Doctor and yet, he still was at the end of the book, although in a lesser capacity.

I did like how Zach wasn’t going to give up on her and I just love the relationship he has with his siblings and parents. Those scenes made me feel like I was in the family bubble.

The little teasers of Vincent’s story have me intrigued and I’m looking forward to that one! Especially if we get more time with the Cove family.

Another book by Louise Bay that I love, her way of writing is so easy to read that when you least expect it you are already finishing the book.

This story is good, I really liked Ellie evolution as a character, knowing her story with her ex (who we hate) and seeing everything she does to know herself again and move on with her future inspired me to do the same, then we have Zach who is also in the process of finding himself, coming from a family full of doctors and being afraid of letting them down by not wanting the same thing made me cry for him.

From the moment they meet, they feel a little electricity between them, until due to things in life they get trapped in a small Scottish cabin (I want to go) and well, they let out all the tension and almost all their truths.

I liked this book, I had a good time reading it and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

🫂 I received an arc in exchange for my honest review.

The MMC is insipid. He fell far short of expectations... I mean, he was supposed to be PERFECT! The FMC is cringe, at the very least. All that cooking...👀
The premise was good, but the lack of chemistry killed the reading experience for me!

Zach should have stayed in medicine, they never should have left the office, and he should have followed his first thoughts: have her on his desk!

This was such a breezy, entertaining and enjoyable read. Zach and Ellie are immensely likable characters. I think the author consistently writes engaging stories with fun, unique characters.
Both characters are at a turning point in their professional and personal lives. Both characters are struggling with personal feelings of inadequacy and some insecurities. It makes them very relatable and it connects them.
Ellie is hired as Zach’s assistant and it’s a big deal for her, she’s excited to get the chance and save for her big dream, yet she can’t quite get a handle on what she’s supposed to be doing. Zach isn’t being forthcoming or completely honest with himself or others so Ellie is in the dark for a reason, he has a secret passion project that’s taking all of his focus. It’s really entertaining as the two navigate this misunderstanding and odd new business relationship. It’s a very cute and clever start to the story.
Then we get to the really fun part where the two are stuck in Scotland, in a snowstorm with one bed.! Oh, I love forced proximity and the one bed trope. It gives all the awkward, butterfly inducing exchanges between the two characters that I love. The chemistry and tension is great!
As the story goes forward I got to know the characters pasts, their struggles, the things they dreamed of and the things holding them back. It makes for a story I loved and characters I was invested in, I adored and I was rooting for all their dreams to come true.
I love Zach’s family, they are warm, quirky and big hearted. They bring laughter, they are great secondary characters.
I thoroughly enjoyed this adorable romance that has humor and character depth with an ending that made me giddy and full of joy.

Louise Bay never disappoints , DR Perfect was PERFECT from start to finish. It was deliciously entertaining.

Ellie wants to impress her new boss as she needs the job, she needs it for her long term plan, for her new start. Ellie lost everything after her break up and wants now to focus on making her dream come true but she needs to keep this temp position. However , Dr Zach Cove is not making it easy for her… he’s not the classic doctor … he also has his secret and a dream of his!

I love the relationships that Zach has with his brothers- sending the clowns LOL

Louise Bay has such a knack of making you fall in love with her characters. ZACH … all the feels , his kindness, his hotness… he has it all!

A thrilling page turner that grabs your attention from the off. Highly recommended!!

A cute opposite attracts read! The chemistry between the two main characters was a bit on the slow side in the beginning, but it definitely got turned up by about a 1\3 of the way through. The FMC was super relatable and you were definitely rooting for her to find her happy ending. Overall, A cute read that I'd definitely recommend.

This is a wonderful forced proximity romance with a dash of insta-love, and little angst.

I love that this story is about two people finding themselves and on the way, find each other. Zach is part of a family of doctors and is questioning his path, even as he is a very accomplished physician. Ellie, his new assistant, is also finding her way as her past relationship has imploded and her boyfriend was also her boss.

Zach is super secretive about his desire to be a writer and Ellie is trying to her hardest to be the most efficient assistant get his practice up and running. They are almost working at cross-purposes!

When these two get snowed-in at a cabin for a few days. Their passions come alive in multiple ways. Ellie gets to show off her culinary skills, Zach comes clean about writing and their attraction to each other explodes. This little bubble is perfect for them.

I loved how easily Ellie was accepted by Zach’s family and how everything was resolved. This was such a fast read for me, I just loved these two together and didn’t want to put it down.

Great addition to this series!

Zach Cove is anything but perfect despite the title of the book. Because who is? I loved that despite have a successful career he was so unhappy, because I feel like that happens a lot. He has a passion for writing and finally takes the leap to pursue it! Ellie end up in the crossroads as his assistant for his new practice but quickly learns Dr Perfect is not who he seems. The best part is then getting stuck together with all that tension and chemistry. And they knew from that first kiss… 💋 It was definitely refreshing for the man to know what he wanted despite never being in a really serious relationship. He knew he wanted Ellie and he made it happen! I also loved how his story mimicked the story we were reading. A fun, quick read of finding love and finding oneself.

I really enjoyed Zack and Ellie's story. All because of their banter and how Zack frustrates the heck out of Ellie. And I loved that. Of course, it also heightens the tension between them. It's oh-so-delicious! I definitely loved seeing how Ellie has developed. She ended up a better, more confident woman at the end of the book. And I guess, it's also because of Zack. Loved this.
