A cute little set of phrases that allowed Neo to take the lead. Not only discussing colours and things associated with them, but repeating some words to ensure the reader (Neo) could remember them from pages before. I like such stories for early readers, as the mountain climbed to learn the word should be brought back for easier scaling in the future. Neo was able not only to associate colours with their words, but also find words he had tackled and breeze through them. Neo hopes we can find more stories like this soon.

What a bizarre book. I read lots of children's books these days (it's my job), but this one really takes the cake. I've seen the movie Tangled, on which this is based, and I know that in Tangled the plot doesn't involve a wide-eyed simpleton going on an epic quest... to look at colors. In this book that's all that happens. She bumbles around and gets amazed by pretty colors. There are actual stills from the movie, stills which evoke the movie's plot, but the words are reduced to merely listing all the colors on the page. In the climax she sees, like, seven colors at once! Scintillating! I felt like I was in a mental institution while reading this, and my kids were rendered speechless.

This was good for word repetition and reading colors. Story wise it was just kinda meh. This is one of the first books my kiddo read mostly without my help.

A kind of weird retelling of the Tangled story that focus on the different colors Rapunzel encounters after leaving the tower.

Maddie read this one and now wants to rewatch the movie because she says the books never include her favourite part, which is when Rapunzel learns that she’s the missing princess.

A very simple reader that tells the basics of the move Tangled while focusing on colors.

Definitely could have been done better. I am kinda surprised in that this book doesn't spoil the movie if you haven't seen it. Not the strongest reader in words or flow, but those who love Tangled and are just starting to read will probably eat it up.

Disney's Tangled: Kingdom of Color; Reading Level 1 of the Step into Reading books by Random House. (Stepintoreading.com)

Step 1 is “Ready to Read” for Preschool-Kindergarten “Does your child know the alphabet? Is your child eager to begin reading?” Step 1 is the perfect step! Big type and easy words / Rhyme and Rhythm / Picture Clues.

The book cover is colorful and appealing – especially in response to the Disney film, Tangled. Within are bright illustrations, minimal words, and large font used for the typeface.
The words used in the book mimic those from the film; a few repeat (e.g., color, Rapunzel); and some are reflective of the illustration on the page.

I thought this book could be “Step 2” instead of “Step 1” - since there was little repetition and since many words appeared more advanced than what I would have thought “Step 1” would be.

Sample text:
“Rapunzel lives in a tower. She sees lights and colors.”
“Rapunzel painted the walls. She used many colors.”
“Pascal is Rapunzel's friend. He changes color.”
“Green grass and leaves. Red flowers.”
“Long yellow hair.”

I am actually excited for this the new Disney movie "Tangled". It looks like my little girl is too --- or she just loves anything illustrated that looks like it may be a princess. (Look at that castle in the background!) She picked up this book tonight at the grocery store. :o)

This book has great illustrations. But - to me & my daughter - the wording needs a little help. Some of the pages seem to be telling a story, but others are just stating the colors & objects - instead of forming a fluid sentence to follow. After a couple of those pages - my daughter actually said, "Why does this book not sound right?"

She did enjoy the illustrations a lot though - and I think - if we read it more -- I will embellish it a bit to make it a little bit more exciting for her too.

The illustrations in this book are really pretty. The library copy I had actually had a sticker covering the Kingdom of Color subtitle, so that was frustrating. At first, I was like, "Did they really just try to rhyme color with color...?" But I digress. The words are easy to read and Tangled fans will definitely be into reading this one. This book is missing the ending where Flynn and Rapunzel have their falling out and rescue insures. So if your child is looking for something that follows the movie to the letter, this probably isn't the book for them. But if they want something that features some of their favorite beautiful scenes and characters (including the bar scene with the villains and the town square scene) then this book is the one for you!

The pictures were amazing and very much like the movie. The story was not that great. It mostly just listed a lot of colors that were used on the pictures from the movie. It was not very interesting and I don't know if children would like this book at all. It could have been done a lot better and still been about the different colors and written for young children learning to read. I was very disappointed and the only reason it got two stars was because of the pictures.

My 6 year old son recently borrowed this book from out local library.

This book has a few of the characters from the Tangled movie. They go on a adventure and discover many colorful things. The book is simple text even though a few of the words may be a little difficult for the recommended age. It has bright and colorful illustration. A beginners book to help with learning colors.

This is a level 1 reader; and it's a very nice one. Incorporating characters from the Disney Tangled movie with teaching children to read (short easy words) and also helping them with colors. What colors things are (sky is blue) etc. After my 3 year old granddaughter and I read this I then went back and would ask her to point out various things that was such and such color.

I think a lot of people missed the sub title on this one. It's 'Kingdom of Color', hence why colors are pointed out repeatedly, instead of sticking to the traditional story found in the movie. Neat little book that contains my daughters favorite characters to help her learn her colors.

Great level one reader--our four year old actually read it by herself the day she received it as a gift!

I read this to my sister and it was a little bit annoying. Even though it's for kids, they could vary the sentences with the lengths and how they started it.

My new favorite Disney movie along with my daughter's. So naturally we had to get her a book. This is a 1st level so it's easy but is so good to help encourage my girl to read. She loves this one!

I liked the first page the most because I like the glowing lights. I like the flowers of the tower.
