A dark mafia retelling of Romeo & Juliet. Please note there are dark themes in this book and some scenes may be triggering.
Kate grew up in Western Sydney, in Australia, and remains there today. She has always loved the written word, being influenced by the likes of Edgar Allan Poe, JR Ward and Anne Rice, she ventured into writing at a young age.
Finally taking the plunge in 2016 and publishing for the first time. Ever since, she’s been trying to bring the worlds she’s created in her head to the page for everyone else to enjoy as much as she does.
When she’s not writing, she’s looking after her bevvy of pets including snakes, lizards, axolotls, birds, a turtle and a dog with her husband Kyle.
A friend suggested this and oh am I glad. If you know anything about Romeo and Juliet then this book is for you. This couple was explosive. Their chemistry was off the charts we are talking volcano explosion. Jolie was a little unhinged and I loved it. Roman was the psycho we all crave. Seriously this book is a chef's kiss. This may have been my first book by this author it sure as hell won't be my last. This book Im begging you to read this.
Oh my goodness, I absolutely loved this book. I couldn’t put it down and read it in less than a day. It’s a duel POV with Romeo/Juliet vibes and also kind of forbidden love + enemies to lovers. You get both POVs every chapter and the chemistry between the two MCs is AMAZING!
He’s super protective of her, almost touch her and die kind of thing. They run away together to get away from her father and the guy she was arranged to marry too.
They want each other just as much as the other, it’s just so hot. Would definitely read it again.
Favourite quote: I’d never been soft and gentle before, not once, but with Julie, I could have her hard, I could have her in a quick fck against the wall and I could enjoy being sensual with her.
This book is a modern dark Romeo & Juliet, and while I appreciated the creative premise, I struggled to connect with the characters. I enjoyed it enough to want to see how it ended but ultimately, it just wasn’t the right fit for me!
This is a fantastic, dark, retelling of Romeo and Juliet. Two feuding houses divide the city in two. Roman & Jolie are from different sides of the town but meant for each other. But what happens when the city starts to crash and burn? Will these two survive or does fate have other plans? The way Kate Bonham tells their story is incredible. The characters are intense and their chemistry is 🔥🔥🔥. I highly recommend this one.
