Organized into eight sections, this motivational book contains more than 120 simple actions every American can take to make the country a better place.
Most of this was a good message, and common sense. However, like 10-15 percent of this was teaching helicopter piloting parental techniques, and other bad ideas. Overall a good book but I cannot give it 5 stars it’s more like a 3 and 3 quarters.
I have been told more then a few time that the problem with youth is they want to change things they don't understand. I think the reason they are afraid is because they have become jaded to what our country has become and have given up with fighting it. That reason the young try to become so active, despite having no idea what to do is because we still care.
The mistake both the young and the old make is that everything that needs doing is on the large scale. Our country has done large and wonderful things, but those things where fueled and maned by individuals who wanted to make a difference
"For America" list 73 different things we can do to improve ourselves and our country. some things may seem small, but spending more time with family, giving our time, or being less wasteful can have small impacts that will grow into larger changes.
I may not agree with everything listed or said, but you don't need to do everything to make America a better place, you need only do what you can to be a better person and better part of your community, and be a part of the change, even if you are not the head of it.
Nice little book of essays on being "civic minded". Often the best thing we can do to make our country better is just to be the best individual citizen you can be. Examples of Section titles: "Nurturing a Stronger Family", "Helping the Environment", and "Ending Hatred", with chapters like "Donate your old books", "Be a mentor", "Have a family game night", "Learn a foreign language", and "Write a letter to the editor". Nothing terribly profound but a timely read all the same.
