Big Chuck thinks a pair of blue pants, although much too small, make him look spiffy. A stubborn woodchucks misguided fashion statement is turned into a humorous story about self-image and the well-intended advice of true friends.
Big Chuck is a woodchuck who tries on a tiny pair of pants he obtains from a rag doll. The pants look ridiculous, as his other animal friends point out. They are too small, and they keep him from doing activities he has previously enjoyed. When they rip (how embarrassing!) Chuck is finally free to do what he loves. The whole idea is ridiculous, of course, which is what makes it work for the target audience, beginning readers. The illustrations of fluffy Chuck in his too-tight pants are hilarious, and the simple text is just right. This would particularly reach the intended audience because their rapid growth results in similar problems.
Chuck (the woodchuck) loves to run and play with his friends. But after donning a pair of found pants, he discovers that they are too small and lead to disaster. Simple illustrations team up with large print to create a cute reading book for the beginning reader. The animals in the story are adorable. The simple background that accompanies the characters add to the character of the book. The limited text will make this a great first book for the young reader. This would be a perfect title for story time. Recommended for ages 3 through grade one.
This was probably the worst children's book I've read, if not ever, at least in a very long time. It was utterly devoid of charm or any redeeming qualities.
Big Chuck puts on the pants from a doll. They're too small and he's not able to play with the other animals very well, but he refuses to take them off. With simple language for little ones.
Easy readers don't have to be terrible. Just look at Mo Willems. This book doesn't even have a decent plot. A woodchuck puts and pants and they're too small, so they rip. Then he goes back to playing. He's not sad. He doesn't find a pair that fit. It makes no sense whatsoever. Children aren't dumb. They deserve good stories.
I Love Chuck. He is so cute and his friends are so sweet! Chuck gets new pants and thinks they are pretty awesome, but they may be a bit small! They stop him from being able to do fun stuff...then something happens and Chuck is back playing with his furry friends! An amazingly fun book for new and reluctant readers 5 stars!
The two-year-old loved it and thought it was hilarious. The text is simple and offered an opportunity for my beginning reader to try out some words. The illustrations were my favorite part. Very expressive.
Early reader in disguise as a picture book. So cute and funny! The illustrations are great and really help flesh out a story told only with a few words.
I found this boring. Has a very little option for children to interact. Found spots where it was kinda rude. Sorry but never would I read it again or recommend.
