Almost an exercise in journalism, this is a collection of true life experiences of older women coming out to themselves. Because it is related by the women personally, it is slightly patchy and in places a little repetitive. I wish it had explored the emotional and sociological basis of denial a little more. I don't agree that it will have you reaching for your bed partner as it is not particularly erotic but it is frank and honest. A good read if you want a first hand account of older women's first lesbian encounters.

Story of my life

This book is well organized and a quick read. I read it in less than 24 hrs. The women in the stories are easy to identify with. I felt as if they were speaking for me and to me. I had a few "aha!" moments, as well as a few chuckles. As a 44 year old lesbian woman who has been married to a man for 12 years, I know the anguish a lot of these women felt. The book covers an array of backgrounds, "out" statuses, marital statuses and childbearing experience. There is something in here for everyone. I loved it!!

Really helpful

Not a long or complicated read by any means. No deep-dives into all the psychological mechanisms at play. I’m hoping “Married Women Who Love Women” will explore all of that. This is a grouping of the personal stories and experiences of all different kinds of women who had their awakening later in life. If you have a lot of questions about what the hell is happening to you, then you will likely get some comfort and insight from this book. Best of luck on your journey.

late in life

Enjoyed the variety of perspectives. Wish there were more of the single never married, suppressed lesbian. Admitting late in life, maybe to late that women are my preference.
