About the author

Martha S. Rosenthal began her educational journey by studying drugs. She now studies sex, and suspects rock 'n' roll is next. Dr. Rosenthal is a professor of physiology at Florida Gulf Coast University, where she teaches human sexuality, human physiology, neuroscience, drugs and society, and co-teaches interdisciplinary issues in gender. She received her master's degree in neuropharmacology from Brown University and her Ph.D. in neuroscience from UCLA. Dr. Rosenthal taught her first human sexuality class ten years ago. Dr. Rosenthal has received several awards, including teacher of the year at both the University of Florida and at Florida Gulf Coast University, and has been recognized as one of the twenty most influential people on the campus of FGCU. In addition to textbooks, she has written articles on the physiology of sleep and on the use of games in the classroom. Dr. Rosenthal has presented on issues of teaching human sexuality at national and international conferences. When not writing, Dr. Rosenthal enjoys reading, working out, and watching movies.

Es una maravilla, es un libro académico lleno de datos, información y diversos puntos de vista que te llevan a reflexionar, a pensar de manera crítica y a cuestionar. El trabajo de documentación de la autora, su dominio del tema y su capacidad de mantenerse objetiva es de verdad inspirador. Lo que más me encanto es la cantidad de recursos visuales e impresos extra que te ofrece, porque te da la oportunidad de apreciar otras perspectivas.
It is wonderful, it is an academic book full of data, information and diverse points of view that lead you to reflect, to think critically and to question. The author's documentation work, her mastery of the subject and her ability to remain objective is truly inspiring. What I loved the most is the amount of extra visual and print resources that it offers you, because it gives you the opportunity to appreciate other perspectives.

Авторка пише про важливість критичного мислення, перевірку джерел і так далі, а сама дає посилання на наукові статті, яких нема або вони не про те, а також наводить "фактоїди", які не мають зовсім ніяких підтверджень. Може, якраз для того, щоб студенти попрактикувались.
Читати дуже цікаво, але факт-чекати кожен пункт, щоб відділити мухи від котлет, втомлює, тому книжку я кинула.
