Discusses and compares the habitats and behavior of three of the big cats--cheetahs, lions, and tigers--with the help of three not-so-ferocious felines, Miss Cheetah, Edgar the Blue-Toed Tiger, and Ryan Lion.
I found the doodles and their comments to be a bit intrusive and ruined the moods of the natural habitats - so basically distracting. Even when reading with a child's eye. I think I would have enjoyed them more in another format.
This story begins in the Serengeti of East Africa, where the illustrations really come to life. Keith Potter did an amazing job combing the childish cartoon line drawings with actual real life photography. Every page is packed with information about the different cat’s and their habitats. But, he introduces them in a way that children will not tire of. The cartoon characters each have their own personalities that will keep children interested as they follow them on a safari. It’s a 48 page book, which could easily take thirty minutes to read-aloud if you read all of the information. You can also choose to read aloud only the main words which I though was neat. I would use this for children ages 5 and up. Older children would be able to read all of the information offered but, I think younger children would still be able to enjoy its content.
A great educational book for your children of all ages. My 6 yr old loved it as well as my 3 yr old twins. Lots of good information with beautiful pictures that will help keep children engaged. A great addition to any children's library.
