It's Him vs. Her when romance collides with reality--and everyone is watching....

He says...he'll have his way with her inside a week.
Radio personality Matt Ransom of Atlanta's raucous, testosterone-fueled Guy Talk is counting on a sure thing when he agrees to be locked up in a tiny apartment for seven days with the competition: the earnest Dr. Olivia Moore. It's an on-camera publicity stunt and Matt's determined to come out on top.

She says...she'll never make the same mistake twice.
Though their long-ago affair is a secret, Olivia feels as if her broken heart is on display whenever she crosses paths with her infuriatingly cocky - and undeniably charismatic - nemesis. Now she's stuck with him in the reality show from hell...or is it heaven? All she has to do is keep a level head, even while every other part of her is spinning dizzily out of control.

I write novels that explore friendship, self-discovery and the challenges life brings us, leavened with a touch of humor. I'm proud of all my books and perhaps best known for my "Ten Beach Road" titles including the USA Today bestsellers, Ten Beach Road and The House on Mermaid Point, and for While We Were Watching Downton Abbey.

I was born in St.Petersburg, Florida and grew up on St. Pete Beach within spitting distance of the Gulf of Mexico. I went, appropriately enough, to Sunshine Elementary School where recess and art class sometimes took place on the beach, and the highlight of every school year was the annual fish broil.

It’s hard to be a type-A personality when you grow up in such a laid back environment, but I managed. Convinced that you were expected to know how to read BEFORE you showed up for school, I forced a neighbor friend to teach me to read at the age of five. I’ve been reading ever since.

Books, in all forms, are one of my greatest pleasures and best forms of escape. And they’ve had a major impact on my life.

I went to the University of Georgia after reading Gone with the Wind one too many times. For a while I re-read Margaret Mitchell’s classic yearly, saw the movie whenever it played within twenty miles, and could quote large passages from memory. Today I have a growing GWTW collection, and the time I spoke at he Margaret Mitchell House was an incredible thrill.last

After college I worked in radio, television, and film. Like Olivia in 7 DAYS AND SEVEN NIGHTS, I’ve done live talk radio. I hosted a show in the eighties called Desperate & Dateless, and while I was never locked in an apartment for a week with a webcam rolling as she was, I did fall in love. Happily, the man who swept me off my feet consults with financial types and understands the bottom line. Unlike Olivia’s nemesis, Matt Ransom, my husband has never, to my knowledge, advised anyone to ‘love the one they’re with.’ We live in Atlanta with our two sons.

7 Days and 7 Nights by Wendy Wax, is about two young successful people, Dr. Olivia Moore and Matt Ransom. They now both work for a local radio station, WTLK, and both are the most listened to show on that radio station. Working at the same radio station was a coincidence that neither of them expected after their brief past in Chicago. When the station’s budget is cut down, the station’s manager comes up with the idea to put them in a small apartment for a week and let them do their radio shows from there. Whichever person gets the highest ratings by the end of the week will be chosen to stay at WTLK. To the world it seems the challenge is to get the highest ratings, but to Olivia and Matt, the challenge is leave their past behind.

The theme of this book is that everyone has to grow up sometime. Some people may want to act like a child and be irresponsible, but something will happen in their life and make them grow up. Matt starts out being a ladies man, but when he comes back into contact with Olivia he starts to rethink the direction his life is going.

7 Days and 7 Nights begins with Olivia doing her radio show. This book has a lot of details about radio stations because Wendy Wax has her own radio talk show. Olivia’s show starts with a woman complaining about her cheating husband. That topic reminded her of her own life. Olivia had just recently divorced her cheating husband. Their divorce was very public and on every magazine and news show around. When her show is over her producer, Diane Lowe, tells her she needs to go see T.J, the stations general manager. This is when she learns that either Matt’s show, Guy Talk, or her show, Liv Live, is going to be kicked off the air.

One of the main characters in this book is Dr. Olivia Moore. She is a therapist who has her own radio show. She is recently divorced and her career has taken off in a good direction. She likes her job and the people she works with; with the exception of Matt Ransom. Olivia and Matt had a little fling when they both lived in Chicago. Matt was working at the local radio station there and Olivia was just beginning her career. Now she is worried about loosing her self control when they have to stay in the tiny apartment together for an entire week.

The other main character is Matt Ransom. He is a middle aged man who refuses to grow up. Olivia calls him a “Peter Pan.” He had a very hard childhood that Olivia never knew about until their stay in the apartment. His twin brother drowned when they were swimming in the lake by their house. His mother went into a deep depression and Matt and his sister had to learn to fend for themselves. Matt tells his sister “she wasn’t the only one who lost someone.” That is part of the reason why he cannot seam to grow up now, because he didn’t have a happy childhood he wants to be a child now. Olivia, being a therapist, tries to get him to open up about it. He does not open up much, but he opens up more for her than to anyone ever before. His plan for the stay in the apartment is to get Olivia out of her comfort zone. “He wanted her off balance and uncertain.”

I didn’t care much for this book. The only thing the author focused on was the physical attention between the two characters. I thought it was very boring. Most of the book only contains Matt and Olivia’s stay in the tiny apartment. They did not get to go outside or anything like that. All they had in the apartment was a television, food, and cameras. I did like that Olivia was a strong willed woman and did not need a man to make her happy.

I'm a huge fan of Wendy Wax, but this book fell a bit short for me. The apartment portion seemed to go on forever, and started getting stale. The Dawg and JoBeth side story was more interesting than Olivia's and Matt's.

📖 Read via Audiobook - 3.5 ⭐

Radio talk show hosts with a past get locked in a small apartment for a week and attempt to keep their mutual attraction under wraps.

Olivia and Matt's connection felt a bit forced for me, especially since there was little build up of their present relationship and almost no recollections of what their affair had been eight years ago. The side characters, callers JoBeth and Dawg, had more compelling chemistry and I enjoyed their scenes for their dose of realism.

Great Rom-Com for a quick summer read. Wendy writes so you can feel the chemistry between the characters which helps draw you in. The interaction/parallel between the main characters and two of their radio listeners was a nice touch.
I have to admit to checking the original publish date against the release date of the movie “The Ugly Truth” since it is so similar. I was glad to see the book came out first but then wondered if the movie producers stole her idea!
Either way, it’s a good read.

I read “7 days and 7 nights” back in 2012, I believe. Then a few years later I read it again.
The book itself is good, it is definitely not a waste of time. I pretty much enjoyed the humour, the banters between the two, and the way the author portrayed them.
“7 days and 7 nights” is perfect for hot summer nights and for those who wish to just sit back and enjoy a nice story line.

Great fun

I really enjoy Wendy Wax's writing style. She makes me smile with her humor and she writes with flair. She also has a gift for dialog that feels genuine and free flowing.
This would be a great vacation read.

The secondary romance between JoBeth and Dawg was more interesting and developed than the MCs'. Even Matt wondered at one time what Olivia saw in him.

This one wasn't as funny either but still entertaining. Two rivals at WTLK have to live together and do there job without leaving a small apartment. They have history together and may not be able to resist each other (of course that is good for ratings). Each of them is a talk show radio person with advice to their respective sexes. Is it good advice or is it just plain ole guy advice. I suggest you read it to find out what happens. I liked it.

Despite some humorous moments, this book ultimately fell flat, and was incredibly shallow. It takes the battle of the sexes cliche to a new level by trapping feuding talk show hosts Olivia and Matt in an apartment for a week. Parallelling this main storyline, was the story of Dog and JoBeth, listeners who each called into the respective shows because she wanted a ring, and he never wanted to get married.

There really wasn't anything in this book that isn't a typical romance cliche -- true love, the importance of physical attraction over anything else, and the apparent inability of men and women to find that special attraction with more than one partner...ever. Plus, the big one -- the man, a player, who is willing to change for the right woman. None of that is unusual, and I usually take it in stride, enjoying the fantasy of the romance.

But this time, I couldn't do it, and I think it's because Olivia was a therapist. At one point in the book, she loses respectability because the web cams capture her flinging herself at Matt, and the world knows they got involved in the apartment. I can believe the world would react that way, but personally, that didn't bother me nearly as much as her on-air confession and public declaration of love to a man who she KNEW wasn't going to reciprocate. You can't force other people to change. Or grow up. These two had a history together -- an extremely underdeveloped history -- but nevertheless, she went and put herself right back in the same situation with the same kind of person. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, expecting a different result. I don't expect a different result, and the ending didn't do anything to make me believe these two would stay together.

I love it when I take a chance on a book or an author and they don't fail me. so, congrats to Wendy Wax for not failing me with this book.
Without giving an in-depth analysis of what happens in the book, just know that the hero and heroine of the novel are a perfect match. The wit and humor they use on their respective radio show keeps you tuned in.
Wax draws the ultimate audience in this book by making the battle between the characters a sort of Battle of the Sexes that is sure to get everyone's attention.
The fact that Max and Olivia are stranded in a tiny apartment with only each other for company for a whole week is sure to draw more attention. Wax understands perfectly what would happen when two former lovers, who are still attracted to each other, are put together in a tiny apartment for a full 7 days.
As always I hope for more character development, but you can only have so much information on the characters without the book getting boring and just tuning out altogether.

I'm not afraid to admit that this is a cheesy romance book. Normally many book enthusiasts stay away from it. I'm guilty, i have just a few. But this is actually a good one.

I like books, movies, anything like those involving the way men and women communicate with each other, and that focus on the way men and women think. It also had an interesting plot, where two people who barely can't be in the same room as each other are forced to share an apartment for a week. It may be cliche, but I sort of thought it was more creative than that.

I'm also intrigued by the characters of Matt and Olivia. They're both radio hosts, and I'm a Mass Media student. I'm not interested in working in radio, but I was intrigued by the jobs of the two protagonists.

It had a good story, good characters, and a nice book to curl up with. The reason for the missing star in my rating justifies the fact that it's romance. I try to stay away from that genre, so I thought of only four stars to balance my slight embarrassment for being into a genre I stay away from.

Dr. Olivia Moore has a lot of spunk. She is a psychologist that is trying to help people with their problems. She answers questions from callers on the radio in Atlanta. She is in direct competition for air space with radio personality, Matt Ransom. He has a show called "Guy Talk" where guys will be guys. The station can only support one of the shows so there is a contest between the two to see who can have callers donate the most money/food for a food drive. This last for 7 days and 7 nights. The trick is that they both are confined to a small apartment together and broadcasting and video live through the internet.

Sparks are still flying after 8 years. The two used to work at a radio station in Chicago 8 years ago where he was a up and coming radio star and she was an intern. Easy reading and a parallel story with a couple of listeners named Dawg and Jobeth.

I was not setting high expectations for this book. And I'm really surprised that I enjoyed it. In fact, I really loved it! I enjoyed the gender war between the two characters. I loved how the story progressed and I was not definitely expecting how Dr. O admitted her feelings for Matt. Or that Matt didn't immediately call back after her declaration (I was thinking that would be the case).

Also, I liked how there's an Olivia POV and a Matt POV. It's really fun to also read on a guy's point of view, right? RIGHT! :) And adding in the side-story of Dawg and Jobeth has been entertaining.

I loved this book. Maybe it's just me... And maybe I'm just a sucker for this kind of love story. :)

This is the second time I read this book and it's as great as a remember it to be. A battle between the sexes through competing radio show hosts who have a shared history together. Neither one is willing to concede defeat as their show is put on the line. As the story progressed, there were moments I laughed and really enjoyed the banter between Matt and Olivia.

The only criticism I have is that I feel we did not have a more in-depth understanding of both of the characters' background story.

Battle of the sexes - radio style. In this corner is Dr. Olivia Moore, noted dispenser of therapy for women's empowerment everywhere and recent divorcee. And in this corner, is Atlanta's most eligible bachelor, Matt Ransom. When the station decides they have to cut one of the two, they end up pulling a publicity stunt where they are trapped in a small apartment wired with cameras.

The banter is good. The plot a bit weak. Overall a decent read. Not the greatest but far from the worst.

I really enjoyed this book. I would definitely read it again. I liked the humor, the emotions, characters and self-discovery. A few spots really got me laughing and some were emotional. *sniff* This would definitely go on my shelf if I owned it, gonna keep a look out for it though. The 'kick' was perfect and the ending was good too. I liked the relationship with JoBeth and Dawg too. That was a great addition. HEA for all, YAY! The older couple was touching too. Great props for them. ENJOY!

Entertaining but slow. Loved the characters, especially JoBeth and Dawg. They were a great couple. Dr. Oliva and Matt Ransom, radio personalities locked in an apartment together for seven days of broadcasting. We find out about their past relationship and it was fun having them gear back up again. There were enough surprises to keep me interested.

Wendy Wax’s 7 DAYS AND 7 NIGHTS is a humorous take on He Said, She Said, where two talk show hosts are battling for the number one slot as well as keep their shows on the network. A ratings attempt brings the two of them together for as the title forecasts seven days and nights and along the way more than the ratings spark!

The first 100 or so pages move pretty slowly, and it's pretty formulaic. I did appreciate the pace and the story development toward the end of the book, but it took a while to get there. It's not going to stop me from reading her other work though.

Типичното лятно/плажно четиво. Още в първите страници ти става ясно каква ще е развръзката, най-вече заради наличието на още N на брой книги на идентична тематика. Нищо особено, без отличителни моменти или фрази. Не ми допадна особено.
