Contains a collection of spells, potions, and recipes of the Wiccan community as well as an up-to-date directory of occult shops, publications, and services
Gerina Dunwich is a professional astrologer, occult historian, and New Age author, best known for her books on Wicca and various occult subjects. She is also involved in paranormal research and is the founder of the Paranormal Animal Research Group, which investigates cases of alleged hauntings by animal spirits.
it is as the title says, a book of Wiccan spells. i am neither inclined, nor qualified enough to comment on the validity of said spells, and for the record: i never tried any of them!
bought this as a teen while on a summer trip in, [of all places] Eureka Springs, AR. there was a funky little new-age/hippie shop there and i was in one of my "occult moods"
i think i also bought a little drawstring bag there that i still use to this day for RPG dice.
I bought this book many years ago and I certainly did enjoy it and I still go back to it every now and then. I think it's an "ok" book for those who are curious on the subject but it definitely lacks depth.
so I wanted to know more about such mysterious things as Jyotish Vidya and Whitch Craft so Finally I decided to read a beginner's book in this. this book is simple and small..with the brief introduction about Wicca religion and few important spells and how to cast em... I can't say I can understand it fully because no scientific reasons are given in this book. but it's fun to read and yeah Things and hurbs mentioned by Author is hard to find at home..you have to really buy hell alot of things to bring it in practice. Author said it's a White magic book and they don't really support unethical practices.
I liked it, but I'm more of a do-it-yourself kind of guy. I prefer books that empower me to develop my own custom spells. Good for people that use spell 'recipes'.
Very simple book of spells -- the index would be more helpful if the book actually had page numbers! not very practical to be able to quickly find something that way. Good beginner text.
It's an interesting assortment of spells, recipes and correspondences. I'm in the minority when it comes to Dunwich's books: I enjoy reading them and am able to find worthwhile little gems between their covers. My only real complaint about this book (and it applies to her other titles) is that parts of it are repeated in part or in whole in her other books. I can't say for certain, but I believe that's most likely the publisher's doing. They probably wanted to increase the page count, which would also explain why sometimes less than 25% of a page has text on it. Pure padding. Over the years I have taken some of the spells, deconstructed them to better understand their composition, and rewritten them to suit my personal needs. In doing so, I've had as much success with Dunwich's formulas as any other. Are there better books of this kind on the market? Oh heck yes. You betcha. But this one is just such a little oddity that I can't help but love it. I still reach for it every now and then, and it has a ton of sticky notes and slips of paper sticking out of it with notes scribbled on them. I think I've gotten my money's worth out of this one.
A bit ago I just added all of the Wiccan books that I had to my to-read shelf and I figured that I would read them. :)
Maybe it is just because I am a writer, but this book had me imagining this whole other world of witches lurking in the night. It was fun to think of all of these witches living this serious lifestyle and having all of these adventures.
I don't know if I will ever do any of these spells, but I do think I will turn back to this novel whenever I decide to write the images that popped into my head while reading this. :)
a great reference for amulets, and easy spells to carry you through day to day life. postive reinforcement that you can have a positive & quality of life of your own choosing.
