Summer nights, water-balloon fights, young girls in ragged cutoffs, a good band tonight on Carnival Island, and a walk along the great midway starts out this wild story of an impending alien invasion during Flaming Carrot's summer vacation in Smallville.
Flaming Carrot leads a rebellion of the Trekkies and Dr. Whovians that were duped into helping the spacemen build their beachhead here on Earth. Plus, an all-new Flaming Carrot text story!
The fourth collected volume of Flaming Carrot comics, Fortune Favors the Bold reprints issues 19 through 24 of the Flaming Carrot's madcap adventures. This volume finds him teaming up with Screwball to take on Easter Island-headed aliens plotting world domination with the help of Star Trek and Dr. Who fans, and includes the return of the Dead Dog! You aren't going to find many graphic novels featuring flaming vegetable masked vigilantes that start with Hemingway references, and maybe that's a good thing. If you like your entertainment smart, silly, and downright bizarre, then look no further.
The Mystery Men are still hanging around, there's an alien invasion and the dead dog has returned with Don Whiskerando, but Flaming Carrot's supposed to be on vacation! Another longer continuing story, and perhaps the best one so far. For some reason, this is the last FC collection I have, which is a shame considering the condition our hero's in by its end! This volume collects Flaming Carrots Comics issues 19 through 24, has an introduction by superhero-comics stalwart Jim Shooter and (for the first time in the series) contains no new material. Not a good place to just jump in, as we see the return of several earlier characters, but a great continuation of all that's gone before.
