Rate this book
The ancient art of Reiki has the power to heal our minds, bodies, and spirits in ways few of us can imagine. The first Reiki Master to practice in an operating room under the supervision of Dr. Mehmet Oz, author Raven Keyes has brought Reiki to the defining events of our time. With engaging prose, Keyes tells moving stories of giving Reiki to rescue workers at Ground Zero, PTSD survivors, professional athletes, trauma patients, and those suffering from crippling emotional pain. Keyes offers inspirational experiences of connecting with angels and spirit guides, and shares the joys and pains of working with patients, their loved ones, and their communities. Through stories and meditations, readers are filled with hope and a sense of good will. Helpful exercises and meditations are included to invite healing and provide the opportunity to engage with Reiki energy more deeply.

Raven Keyes does an amazing job at explaining what Reiki is and how it works. She tells stories of her experiences as a Reiki practitioner: working on cancer patients, providing Reiki to patients during surgical procedures, to NFL players and to survivors/families/first responders, etc at Ground Zero for 8 1/2 months after the 9/11 tragedy. This book was so moving to me as a practitioner myself. But I think it would be a great way for a non-practitioner to read so they can understand the benefits of Reiki.

Raven Keyes does a real service with this book, sharing her experience of taking Reiki beyond the regular client-practitionner session scenario into new realms. She also interweaves her meditation teachings into the book in a way I found very useful. This book came into my awareness at just the right time, as I am looking at expanding Community-based Reiki in my area, bringing Reiki practitionners together and targeting populations for treatment and Reiki training. Thank you, Spirit for this gift, and thank you, Raven, for writing this gift.

Almost 8 hours long audible book listening to heartwarming stories of her practice, some of which brought tears of love as I listened. Many beautiful meditations were added to the end of this book. I am glad I bought and listened to this book. Thank you Raven for sharing your stories.

Reiki is fine, but it does not cure cancer. Could not recommend this book due to such irresponsible claims.

I'm happy that Raven Keyes received support from people in medicine like Dr. Mehmet Oz. It's wonderful to know that medical doctors are supporting their patient's right to alternative therapies to complement their treatments in surgery or cancer. Reiki is a wonderful energy healing practice that is non intrusive and very helpful in balancing chakras as well as allowing pathways of energy to flow freely. Along with this, Reiki is intelligent energy that goes only where it is needed; meaning it is safe and functions in regards to what the higher self knows is best.
The author talks about Reiki theory throughout the book, with the previous ideas in mind. But she also goes into great depth explaining all of her experiences with Reiki. Dealing with patients in hospitals to FDNY workers after Sept. 11th 2001, as well as her own experiences dealing with PTSD.
I recommend this book to anyone studying Reiki or interested in alternative or complementary healing.

I have mixed feelings about this book. Basically, I really like it, but there are few issues that I don't like, for example the fact how the author talks about her spiritual experiences, angels, prayers and their psychic abilities. She meant to write a book that can make people interested in Reiki as a healing practice. As such, the book works great - the stories are full of emotions and show the true power of Reiki healing in so many areas of our human life. Yet these minor parts when the author talks about angels and spirits may scare many people away - as there's no need to believe in such stuff if you want to give Reiki a try.

Still, I recommend the book to everyone who wish to learn more about the method of Reiki healing.

Raven's journey with reiki is detailed as she relays numerous stories of profound healing. Through her encounters, the listener learns the power and potential of reiki. Raven reads her own book, and I found the audio version a great listen. Very inspiring. Have some tissue handy, though. Lots of very touching stories in this work.

I LOVE this book. Delightful descriptions of Reiki healing. Heartfelt and clearly written stories about Reiki healing in hospital operating rooms, with NFL and NBA athletes, Ground Zero especially with firefighters, policemen and volunteers and the general populace. Highly recommended for all Reiki practitioners and those interested in Reiki.
