After running away from her mates and being taken, Araiya wakes up in pain.
Quickly realizing that becoming Chosen would not stop her deluded stepfather's plan, she finds herself captive. Held in Fire by none other than Donal, the old Fire Magistrate.
Blocked from the Elements, Araiya finds a surprising ally while struggling to survive this nightmare.
Will her mates find her?
Are they even looking for her?
Can Araiya hold on to herself and who she is becoming to have a chance at battling the war that is obviously brewing in the darkness?
Araiya can only pray to the Goddess for strength...
This is a series so I will give a full review on the final book when I'm finished, and for the books in between I'll give brief thoughts!
I really liked the character arc here and watching Korine & Araiya be able to connect in the way that they did, even if they were in their own hell together.
I will say that I enjoyed the story, spice, plot, and emotion. But I also sent a picture of myself ugly crying to my book bestie soooo do with that what you will 🤣🙈
• Dragon shifters • How will it fit • RH • Fated mates • Creatures • Spice
Definitely check the CW/TW! This has a few heavy elements/events and topics throughout 🥹
The level of hatred and torture is just so dark , I have a lot of questions which I realised the writer is doing well in dragging the book into 4 sections, now I want to know more about the grande finale.
I started this book right after I posted my review for the first book and it had me entirely hooked!! I didn’t want to put down the book at all! Until I realised it was 5am and I should probably try sleep 😆.
The emotional roller coaster I feel like I’ve just been through!!!! Araiya goes through literal hell throughout this book along side Korine! I wasn’t Korine biggest fan in the first book but when you get to know why she done what she done and what she goes through it broke my heart! I cried a lot!!!! 😢
Araiya really can’t catch a break from book 1 to book 2 she goes through hell! River is still one of my favourite characters but so are Mac and Terran! The more I got to see off Mac and Terran throughout the second book the more I loved them! And the way they work together to ensure Araiya is safe!
When I got to know more of Zephr’s past the more my heart broke for who he had to become!💔
I loved Talon through the first book… but the second book I don’t know how I feel about him now. 🤷🏻♀️
I loved the ending to this book!!! I can’t wait too read the 3rd book and see what’s next for these characters! HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU READ IT 🖤🖤
I’m not done but I don’t buy Korine’s flip. Way too many holes in her story. Why take two different women’s man? Why request A go to that old guy? Why get mad when A got out of it? Why not, in alllllll the years, did she not just talk to A and say ‘hey, I don’t actually mean this stuff but I noticed my dad is less cruel to you the crueler I act’ And this series just reads like fanfiction. Like reader-insert, wish-fulfillment, fanfiction. And I’ve read a lot of fanfiction. I’m rating it so high because there’s too few reviews on it already and any negative reviews will tank the score. The author has potential and I want her to keep writing and do well. Those five stars are an investment.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I don't want to include spoilers so pardon the strange way of the review but trust me this was an amazing book and I can not wait to get my hands on Charred - Book 3.
There were a lot of WTF and OMG moments that Alicia brought out in this book and so many "I didn't see that coming" moments. The warnings she puts in the beginning of her books are for a reason if you are easily triggered these are likely not the books for you.
We learned much more about how this all happened to Araiya and more of her troubled past at the hands of her Stepfather and Korine.
Araiya is so powerful and the bonds she has with her mates is amazing. Korine really had me wondering do I trust her or is this all a game? Zephyr and Shavon's story lines blew my mind! I have so many questions about Talon and even Ms Brooke and hope their stories go farther maybe even get their own chapters eventually giving them a spotlight.
This series (so far) has a good plotline and a fair amount of action. The characters are still developing, some MCs need fleshing out more. Be aware, though, that this particular book has strong abuse scenes incvolving FMC (not by her men though).
My main criticism is mainly from a spelling grammar standpoint. "Your" instead of "You're","Their" for "There" (usually that's the other way around), with lots of other misused or misspelled words, and lots and LOTS of misplaced apostrophes. This seems to be a common problem with RH authors...they are great at plotting and characters, and abysmal at spelling and grammar. PLEASE, I BEG YOU, GET SOME BETA READERS!
Book 1, Chosen, was amazing. Book 2, Chained, is a whole new level.
1 day, in 1 day, I started this book, and didn’t put it down until I finished it, because the story is so captivating.
We see Araiya in a whole light, as we witness some of her turmoil and heartbreak. The puzzle pieces all start coming together and I can tell you, you are not ready for it. Every time I thought I had it figured out, I was wrong, and again Alicia Rivers never fails to amaze me with her creativeness and story telling ability. This series is an absolute masterpiece!!!!!!
Omg!!! I loved the first book and the second is even better. Even though for a lot of the book Araiya is separated from her mates they still grow closer in that time. The redeeming moment with her step sister. I was so angry at Talon for how he treated her and yet it made for really good reading. Mac became my favourite. I also love how her dreams help reveal things that happened in the past that will help them defeat the darkness.
Why do I have to wait for the next boooooooook! This series is such an adventure and watching the FMC grow the relationships with each individual mate is incredible. I love that there isn’t an instant connection and she takes her time to get to know them.
The heat level went up in this book from the first both in the bedroom and out. I’m mad that I read it so fast because I don’t want to wait to hear more about their journey and their love. Oh and why are dragons hot?!
It’s a great book and an exciting plot, however it can be confusing. It has a-lot of misspellings like his should be her and vis versa and some of the names are replaced with others. You really have to pay attention and know the characters as sometimes they are swapped.
The author does it again ...Airaya is captured and must survive to get back to her mates. We learn a lot of truths in this book... we also get more questions. We lose some loved ones and want to scream at so many. I can't wait for the next book
This series is soooooo addictive. Once you start reading it's hard to put them down. I highly recommend this series if you are looking for a great escape. Trust me you will not be disappointed.
I really enjoy the story, but this book has a lot of grammatical issues, which made it hard to follow in some areas. If they could be corrected it would make it more enjoyable to read
Great continuation of the storyline but it needs some serious editing. A lot of spelling mistakes and grammatical errors that should have been caught by the editor. I am excited to move on to the next one!!
This was such a great second book, but the book needs to be edited. Multiple grammar errors made the read hard to enjoy at times. I am no “grammar Nazi”, but it was really hard to follow sometimes.
This has been the best series so far! It keeps you interested and wanting to know what happens next. This author is really good and making you feel like you are right there along with them during their journey. Can’t wait to read the next book in the series
This was a fantastic, heartbreaking, anxiety filled, action packed, horrifying installment that is filler with unexpected twists and turns. Just brilliant.
Ok what the heck?! The author kept me on my toes this whole book. There was curve ball after curve ball for the poor FMC. I’m onto book 3 with all due haste now because what a cliffhanger.
