When the politician disagrees with her bodyguard, she can't control the sparks that are flying between them
This is an Age Gap, Enemies to Lovers, Coming Out, Bodyguard Romance. It is super steamy and as always a Happy Ever After.
Elizabeth Myers is a politician passionate about LGBT rights. When her personal safety is threatened she knows she needs a bodyguard.
She immediately disagrees with her new ex military bodyguard Alex Jameson who is just trying to ensure her safety. The chemistry between them is heated.
When lines become crossed between them, Elizabeth knows that it needs to be kept secret for the sake of her career- she isn't ready to come out yet.
But will their secret fling ever really be enough for either of them? And will secrets ever really stay secret?
Authors need to realize that there’s a different between being grumpy and being rude Alex was Rude and bad tampered from the start, even though Elizabeth was doing her a favor by hiring her, and honestly i don’t know what she see in her
Alex safety measures was as ridiculous as their relationship Strip search the guests? Taster for poisoned food? Who do you think you’re? 🙄🙄
I am amazed at the consistency of this writer. To maintain such a level of dreck takes commitment.
If this series was intended as a parody, it would be entertaining. For example, in this book, Alex has crippling PTSD--because many authors seem to think every ex-military character has PTSD and sees things that aren't there. And she argues she's good at her job? There are jobs someone with her condition could be good at--but not one where it demands the person be paranoid and get exposed to bright lights, sounds, and chaotic situations. Plus she fails at virtually every turn. She pulls Lizzie down after a shot is fired and fails to catch the shooter. She gets shot taking down another attempt. And through all this, after four assassination attempts, somehow neither the FBI nor Secret Service (not even the local police) get involved. The media? They barely cover it and are more concerned with Lizzie's sexuality than someone trying to murder her.
Naturally, after this incompetence, Gray from the first installment, offers Alex a job because being borderline incompetent is a selling point and she has loads of bodyguards that also have PTSD. Of course they do.
This is the third book in the Bodyguard series and I am amazed at the author's talent that each book is so different, even though it all has a bodyguard as the MC. This book is about the unlikely love story between a seasoned politician and her younger bodyguard. Both women have their own share of trauma, fear and painful past, as they get to know each other better, their relationship shifted from professional to the romantic love affair. There are some angsts and misunderstanding, but I still enjoyed it a great deal.
Another of Emily Hayes’ almost cookie-cutter bodyguard books, but I really mean that in a good way. If the recipe works, keep doing it! This is a medium length story which I read in only a couple of hours. Elizabeth is a politician who has just pushed through a strong pro LGBTQ law which has some vocal opponents. One of those tries to kill her, but instead injures her assistant James. Alex is an ex-marine who suffers from PTSD, and is James’ sister. Now Elizabeth needs a bodyguard, and Alex is the ideal candidate. This has a good storyline, some steamy scenes, discussion of PTSD and its long term effects, and some strong peril.
This is also very good and a big improvement on the first book in the series. I think this series has actually gotten better as it's gone along. The protagonist are Elizabeth a politician and Alex her bodyguard. There is more angst and suspense but again the author does not deliver on the villain's character indeed we end up with another faceless villain and the end feels a little rushed. However overall it is an enjoyable read. I got a chance to read this courtesy of Amazon's Kindle program.
Emily has given us another deliciously hot short sexy story!
Ms Hayes is a master at the erotically hot bodyguard stories. This one is just over the top! The storylines work well, the characters are developed and the sex is hot and wild. What a great combination. I do recommend this whole series to be enjoyed in a short time period, perfect for an airline trip!
Book 1, spoiled brat that didn't deserve her bodyguard. Steamy action with other woman than her love interest. Book 2, not much intensity but good read. Book 3, i Really could relate to Alex with the PTSD, so far this one my favorite.
First 2 books were great, could put them down. A little disappointed with the 3rd, story line wasn’t great and just seems like the story was rushed or wasn’t written as well as the first 2.
Wow, gripping storyline. I loved the main characters their connection was embedded throughout, and they had so much depth in the story. An excellent read is definitely a must-read congratulations
This is so far, absolutely the best book in the series. I enjoyed it from beginning to the end- but I still think the story could have been SO much better if it had been longer.
The audiobook version was greatly narrated by Abby Carden
Well done in only 114 pages. I liked how the two were shown to be very at-odds with each other, kinda stereotypical enemies-to-lovers, or in this case bodyguard-falls-for-boss, but I think it was done tastefully. I do wish we could see these be a bit longer in length, it just feels a bit choppy at times,
