The medieval castles of Wales are an imposing group of monuments. An excellent reference book for the castle afficianado! Pettifer does an excellent job describing each castle, physically, and provides notes on key elements in its history, as well as cross-referencing it with other castles in terms of design & builders. Although this book is a bit on the heavy side, I'll be willing to save space in my luggage for my next trip to Wales, just to have it as a resource!
