Janice Holt Giles was an American writer best known for her series of pseudo historical novels focusing on life on the American frontier, particularly within Kentucky.
I've always enjoyed Giles's fiction, but have discovered in recent years how very much I enjoy her autobiographical stuff as well. Stumbled on this one, and didn't even realize I had it, and quickly became thoroughly engrossed. Now I have to go hunt up some more of her fiction!
My grandmother bought me this after she discovered how avidly I was reading the Janice Holt books. I never had the heart to tell her it wasnt very interesting. Of course I was a teenager then. I may feel differently if I read it now in my fifties.
