With step-by-step color photographs, the highly visual The Complete Visual Guide is a clear, comprehensive, and practical guide to tying more than 100 knots. From choosing, using, and maintaining ropes, to learning about the different families of knots — from stopper knots; binding knots; bends; hitches; loops; plaits and sennits; and splices and whippings — The Complete Visual Guide is the ultimate guide to tying knots for every occasion, from outdoor use in a host of recreational activities, to practical functions around the home.
There are a few short chapters in the beginning which explain the rudimentary knowledge of ropes in a condensed and relaxed manner. The greater part of the book are illustrated step-by-step how-tos with very clearly illustrated instructions on how to make knots. The book covers hundreds of knots ranging from the simplest and most basic (and useful) knots, to more advanced and decorational knots. But there's also loops, braids, splices, whipppings and more.
The illustrations are clear photographs with labels and arrows indicating movements/paths, and the ropes are in different colors. The instructions could not be any more clear. They are very easy to follow.
This book is fantastic! I cannot imagine any other book better suited for learning how to tie knots!
I will probably always be "currently reading" this book. It is an excellent resource/reference and makes learning the elegant skill of knot work excitingly accessible.
Book closes by itself while reading because it has a tall and narrow form. Bad because when I do knots I want to view the instructions at the same time.
This is a great visual guide on to tie knots. I have been looking for a really good knot book, and I believe I have just now found it. This book is super awesome; the picture tutorials are great. Being that I am a visual learner in a lot of things, this was just the book I needed to learn how to tie awesome knots. I will probably be purchasing this book in the future.
