Are there kids in your life who want to learn French? This is the perfect dictionary! Included are pages filled with bright and colorful pictures and bilingual labels to help teach French words to English speaking children. Parents, teachers, and gift givers will This dictionary is a fun way for young English-speaking children to build a basic vocabulary in French. It's never too soon to start teaching boys and girls a second language!
I got this book to start introducing Lily to some French vocabulary, and found that not only does she love looking through it, but it's also great for introducing a wider breadth of English vocabulary.
We find that it's a great jumping-off point to talk about even more words (like when we read about "shoulders," I also think to tell her about "elbows" and "wrists.")
She's almost 20 months old now and she's starting to page through it by herself and name the things in English based on the pictures.
I'm excited to practice the French more with her. It's also a great refresher for me because although I majored in Linguistics and French and can still speak it, there is a lot of vocabulary in this book that I either never learned or have forgotten.
UPDATE: I downgraded this to four stars. Not sure if this was on purpose or not, but I just noticed in the past couple of days that in the book's depiction of a computer, the screen says "1 x 1 = 2" on it. Uhhhhh...
