"Barron's Complete Pet Owner's Manuals " are written mainly for prospective and inexperienced pet owners, introducing them to the details and responsibilities of pet care. This manual focuses on the care of Betas, brilliantly colored beginners' fishes that are wonderful for brightening an aquarium tank. This book describes all the Betta varieties and advises on where to get them and how to keep them. The heavily illustrated books in this series are also helpful for older children seeking pet care information and advice. Barron's selection of titles in this large series covers every popular dog and cat breed, bird varieties, hamsters and other small caged animals, fish varieties for aquarium hobbyists, terrarium pets, and even reptiles, amphibians, and exotics. Each title features approximately 70 color photos and advises on purchasing, housing, feeding, health care--and where applicable, grooming and training.

There is a lot of information, but it's aimed much more at someone who wants to breed the animals than an owner who wants to find out the best way to take care of one fish. The Barron's subtitle on the front, "A Complete Pet Owner's Manual," or the statement on the back cover that there are step-by-step instructions for every day care, are really misleading. It's an interesting but not helpful book.
I was reading more to find out how to take care of my one betta. The book focused a lot on how to breed them. Since this wasn't really want I was looking for, I did skim a few of the none relatable items. I found the history of the betta to be very interesting.
Way to scientific for a regular person to understand. The book focuses mostly on the history/classification/breeding of betta fish. If your looking for information on caring for your new betta, this is definitely not the book to go to.
I liked this book, it gave some great information. I think the title was a little misleading, I was looking for a book that explained how to care for one Betta.
