Takanaga Hinako (高永ひなこ) is a Japanese author of Boys' Love manga.
She has also provided illustrations for several BL light novels by other authors, including The Guilty by Katsura Izumi. Her first manga story, 合格祈願 (Goukaku kigan, Prayers for a passing grade?), was published by Hanamaru Comics in 1997; it was later reworked as the first chapter of Challengers. Most of her works have been translated into foreign languages. She was a guest at YaoiCon 2007, invited by Juné, the US publishers of her popular series Little Butterfly.
When not making Boys' Love manga, she spends her time collecting Wallace & Gromit merchandise and playing Final Fantasy. Takanaga doesn’t like beer and people who are ignorant.

She comments that her biggest influence on her art and writing-style was KOUGA Yun, a famous shoujo manga artist whose works she read as a teenager.

Probably a 3.5 star series for me, I sort of collected on a whim since I was reading any yaoi I could get my hands on. It was good but more importantly it introduced me to the Tyrant Falls in Love series. I still have all four paperback copies of this series though and since its out of print, last I checked the copies are worth something!

After reading Little Butterfly, I became a Hinako Takanaga fan, and when I heard Challengers was her debut manga, I had to read it. Tatsumi is adorable in his nerdiness, and he is the type of person you just want to hug. There were many times this manga cracked me up, and it's so sweet how Kurokawa gave up everything to go to America with Tatsumi. I would like a story about his friend, Isogi. Maybe there is and I just haven't read it.

One complaint I have is this series was so darn expensive! I only bought it because it was Hinako Takanaga, and the price has even gone up since I bought it! $43 dollars for a manga? Seruiously? And that was one of the cheaper ones!

I could post this on a review for the first one, but I'll do it here, since the publishers changed it in the second volume. Rick's L's were made into Rs to show he was a foreigner, but the thing is, he is not a Japanese foreigner! L does not exist in the Japanese language. Sometimes their Rs sound a bit like Ls, but because the manga was translated into English, they should not have substituted Rs for Ls. I'm glad it was changed.

Anyway, highly recommended for any Takanaga fans, especially if you're planning on reading The Tyrant Falls in Love (which I have bought but not read yet). That is, if you don't mind spending the money.
