I really like the Dear Dragon books to teach youngsters to read. The illustrations are fresh and when I read them with my grandson, he loves talking about the pictures. This is a bilingual book with both the Spanish and English printed on each page. In this story our young boy falls asleep and dreams he is a knight. He eventually finds an egg and out hatches a small dragon. A cute story with repetitive words for our new readers. I love the extra things at the back for teachers and parents such as word lists, phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and reading comprehension activities. A great book for primary classrooms and family libraries. This book will help build confidence in a beginning reader. The publisher generously provided me with a copy of this book via Netgalley.

In this book, Dear Dragon Goes To Sleep, starts out with a kid and a dragon laying in their bed and we’re going to bed. They fell asleep and the kid starts dreaming. He dreams that he is a prince and lives in a big castle. He keeps dreaming about living in the castle but then he wakes up and everything goes back to normal.
I thought it was a great book. Mainly because i’m not a great reader and would rather watch a movie so this was a nice easy book for me to read and write a review on and rate. I definitely give it a five star rating.

For those who loved Dick and Jane books you will appreciate books by Margaret Hillert. She write for beginning readers. And her repetition can make reading easier for young readers. I'm a little concerned though when the boy takes the dragon baby from where his parents were.

Talking Points - How do you feel for the dragon? How do you feel about the boy? How do you thin the baby dragon's parents feel? Do you find anything concerning in this book?

Essential Oil Pairing Tip: I'm going to pair doTERRA's Console essential oil blend with this book. Because I felt a ton of compassion from the baby Dragon's parents for getting their baby taken away.
And doTERRA's Console can really help when traumatic things happen to us.

So bold and original, this book about going to sleep! No angst. No stalling. Just a tribute to the potential sweetness of sleeping and dreams.

It's a lovely tale, and I hope this approach matches the experience of many emerging readers.

For the sake of balance, I'll tell you this, fellow Goodreaders: The nightmares I had during my first five years were terrifying. So not every reader of "Go to Sleep" will relate based on personal experience. But I hope many do.

Overall, I greatly appreciate the sunny approach taken by Margaret Hillert in writing this book. As usual, illustrations by Jack Pullan are also up to a very, very high standard, a FIVE STAR standard.

I thought that this book was an ok read, I did like that the Spanish was written and then the English underneath so you could learn words from both languages if you wanted too. It is a simple book that would be good for young children and early readers as there is an awful lot of rhyming and repetition - which is exactly what they need to learn, even if I'm not a huge fan! 3 stars from me.

My 6 year old first grader is a beginner reader and loves this adorable book about a little boy who has a pet dragon and dreams that his is a knight who finds a dragon that hatches from an egg. 74 words that are easy to read. All the major sight words are used and the hardest ones in this book are "guess" and "dream" and "something". Short and sweet, perfect for building the confidence of the beginning and/or reluctant reader.

Books like this are so informational for children and hold such a wealth of knowledge. I really enjoy reading books, like this one and many others to my children, for if you start them young then they will grow to have a love for reading and adventure!

God, this is a stinking donkey turd of a book. Stilted, shittily drawn, dull, and absolutely unenjoyable. So of course my son loves it.
