Wanted to read some Jaquays, and chose this one first for some reason. Coming from 5th edition, where the focus of published material is low-level play, this is like something beamed out of the far reaches of space, the player characters so high level that they're assumed to own dominions. Combats are not conducted against even powerful big bads, but against squads, armies, and immortals.

There's some good sequences in here, the burning library, the Chasm, the fight to leave the city. But most of the plot shenanigans were lost on me, and the emphasis on repeatedly playing, like, actual board games is too much game in my game, you know.
