For me, that meant I have always wanted to be a writer. In 2013, I made it happen when I discovered the new world of self-publishing.
I love to write – there’s almost nothing I’d rather be doing. I still love reading, but writing is more active and satisfying. I can honestly say I will never stop. After all this time, it’s who I am.
I began my career in one genre, but now I’m exploring others. I will experiment with different pen names and new personas as I go, but I’ll always be the same person, the same writer, who loves the craft and the people who make it possible.
How many times have you been put in a situation that has your intuition screaming "DON'T DO IT" 😱? The problem is most people don't listen and then end up in Bad Places 😩. That's what's happened to the heroine in this story 🤔. Thanks again Lena, I'm truly enjoying this series and look forward to reading more 🤓.
In this 2nd of the series Grace has her temporary copper cuffs and collar exchanged for the permanent silver ones letting all know she has become another chattel to the new confederacy. We are brought through the details for prepping and the auctioning of property. All the while, Grace tries to process what has happened to her in the past three days. She ponders what her new life will be, who the owners are, and what will become of her. This book continues with the world building and while it can be triggering for some people it still places a twist on what is historically known. How do Grace’s parents and friends deal with this and is there any recourse to be had? While not an intense cliff hanger, one will need to continue reading to find what further perils Grace encounters and if her family finds any options. I look forward to reading the next and hope there will be many as there are so many aspects of this alternate history that can be explored.
This is the second "book" in the New Confederacy series. t This work progresses from Grace's being tricked into slavery in the New Confederacy and describes, first, her losing the "Confederate Lottery," which makes her a slave, all the way through her sale to a club where she will be resold, as well as the harrowing journey from where she was originally taken captive and sold, to where she will be imprisoned and resold. Again, a worthy addition to this ingenious and interesting series.
Definitely not a stand-alone series. A very dark journey for the main character and very well written. I feel for Grace and her situation. And am on to the next book without diversion.
This is where the series starts to really pick up. I love the main character, Grace. The author does a good job with the characterizations and the plot pacing. Also, it's pretty hot.
