Nemea Jones is a nobody… or so she thought. But after learning she's Bloodline—a segment of humanity infused with the blood of the higher races—she embarks on a quest to draw out her latent elemental magic, certain that great power lies within her, even if thus far her attempts have failed to bear fruit.

Until one morning when Nemea finds herself lying naked and sore amongst the rubble of a ruined cabin, missing twelve hours' worth of memories. In their place, she has gained the ability to throw the world into chaos every time she feels even a flicker of emotion. And the arrival of a dark, devastatingly handsome stranger threatens to fan those sparks into full-on flames.

From the small, exclusive art institute on the Puget Sound to the depths of Tartarus, Nemea will pursue power and mysteries she never dreamed possible, all while being forced to reckon with her strange fascination for the beings she encounters—and their mutual desire for her.

Ophelia Bell is the author of the super steamy Sleeping Dragons series. Ophelia loves hot alpha heroes, especially if they’re dragons, but believes the world needs more alpha heroines, so has made it her mission to make that happen. Ophelia grew up on a rural farm in North Carolina and now lives in Los Angeles with her sexy tattooed alpha husband and five-and-a-half attention-whoring cats (one of them is exceptionally large and might actually be a dragon in disguise).

Yes! Yes! Yes! Ophelia Bell took all of my favorite things and turned them into a super compelling read. It was epic! Scion of Chaos had a little bit of dark academia, and monster romance (that has an actual shadow daddy), with MR comes the steam, there's a great fantasy base, and best of all, mythology. I'm a sucker for mythology.

The MCs were great. MFC Nema was not a character I view as naive, she was just so open and accepting, and she chose to trust those around her. She had a bigger heart than she gave herself credit for. It was refreshing. I liked the other MCs, or soon-to-be MCs, a lot. Each of them pulled at my heartstrings in some way. My favorite had to be the most monstrous-looking one. I looked at Typhon with big puppy eyes and decided he must be protected at all costs.

I don't know what I was expecting from the plot, but Ophelia sure knocked it out of the park. Ophelia is a new author for me. Everything was so complex. Fate and Chaos are forces and people, and they are some major players on the board. Their rivalry is the force behind everything, it's wild the way things are connected. Vesh is a major character himself. He's Taturus, as in the person and the place. Ophelia's version of the supernatural prison was more detailed than anything I've come across. The way she took on the myths and put her own spin on them was fantastic.

Ugh! Scion of Chaos ended on a flipping cliffhanger. Everything is up in the air, things are happening, and I'm dying to know what happens next. I have to say I enjoyed this story far more than I thought I would. I'm so ready for the next book. Here comes the Brothers Bane.

There is weird but very hot sex with many shapes of male appendage, an interesting tale of gods and dragons and other mythical beings, and relationships building- what’s not to like! At the very start I was a bit worried about all the names and characters but soon the detailed storytelling meant I knew them all. My only criticism is that this is only half of the story and it ends on a cliffhanger!.

I have been addicted to Ophelia’s dragons and am so glad to get more of her stories. If you love books with some hot monsters, gods, demigods and more then this is for you. We have met so many mythical creatures and this story brings even more of them from the Greek mythology. Our heroine is Nemea. A young woman who is trying to figure out who she is. What higher blood is her bloodline? No one seems to know. Soon Fate, Chaos and several mythical creatures will be very interested in her. Expect some insane heat that will blow your mind.

The world building here was pretty awesome!
The characters are different each facing their own struggles and choices. A great read for mythology lovers. I,personally, read it over the span of two days.

I will start off by saying this is an exciting twist on the gods, but it will not be everyone’s cup-of-tea. Mind linking, bonds, RH, mythical creatures, titans and gods.

Plus, I loved that I shared a name with one of the FMCs friends. So automatic 5 ⭐️’s for that alone hahaha.

I don’t always agree with Vesh or Namea but i story wise, I understood and pushed the plot forward.

I thoroughly enjoyed Namea/Aclide relationship. The tension, the adventure, just worked for me and can’t wait for part 2!

Talk about opening a box of worms and having men or man like beings tumble out and into your bed ! What’s a woman to do ? In Nemea’s case it’s: have sex with them ! All in the name of figuring out what happened in the 12 hours of her life she can’t remember of course. What ensues in this first Lords of Pandemonium book is a jumble of fear, found family, sex ( lots of it )and most of the sins previously confined to the box as Nemea heads to Tartarus ( which isn’t just a place fyi ), on a trip of self discovery and Chaos ensues ! This book ends on a cliffhanger, actually multiple questions need answers, so be prepared ! 4✨’s to a really hot start by Ophelia Bell

'Scion of Chaos' is the first book in Ophelia Bell's newest series "The Lords of Pandemonium". If you've not read one of Ms. Bell's books before take a breath and prepare yourself for a journey like you've never been on. It's extreme, sometimes raw, always bold, and full of strong characters with a chemistry that explodes off the pages. The beginning pages acknowledge up front that literary license has been taken where Greek Mythology comes into play so when our heroine is introduced and Fate actually acknowledges she is very powerful but needs to bond to her mates and we find out there will be nine? Yep, you read that right … nine. The emotional impact on all of these characters did not go unmarked as I had a knot in my throat a few times. It's a powerful read and I can't wait for the next book since she's only bonded with six of the nine so far. I have to know what happens.

This is an incredible start to a new whychoose monster romance series! The world building is transportive and detailed. I throughly enjoyed this world and what it has to offer including the complex characters. This is super steamy along with being dark and twisted. I can't wait to read the continuation of this series.

I didn’t know what I was getting into when I started Scion of Chaos—but once I turned the first page, I was hooked. This book is a delicious blend of dark fantasy, reverse harem (why choose?), monster romance, and Greek mythology with a twist, all wrapped around a heroine who’s far more powerful than she ever imagined.

We meet Nemea Jones at the edge of crisis: she wakes up naked, battered, and with a giant hole in her memory. Her emotions are suddenly triggering bursts of magic she doesn’t understand—raw, dangerous energy tied to something ancient and elemental. And then a mysterious, devastatingly attractive stranger appears, dragging her deeper into a world she didn’t know existed.

This book hits a lot of my favorite tropes in all the best ways:
• Lost/hidden powers
• Found family
• Reverse harem (RH) with slow-burn bond-building
• Monster mates (yes, actual monsters with claws, wings, shadows, scales—you name it)
• Fated mates
• A heavy dose of mythology with a steamy twist

Nemea’s journey takes her from a secluded magical school on an island in the Pacific Northwest to the depths of Tartarus—literally. And it turns out Tartarus isn’t just a place, but a man. Vesh, the personification of the prison itself, is one of several beings who become entwined with Nemea in body, mind, and soul. There are nine mates total (yes, nine) and while only some of those bonds are completed in this book, every connection feels meaningful. These aren’t just hot monster boyfriends—they’re complex, lonely, and deeply emotional beings, each with their own pasts and pain.

The heat level? Off the charts. This book doesn’t hold back on the spice—expect lots of variety (and yes, some wild anatomy), intense emotional intimacy, and genuine relationship building amid all the chaos.

But what I really loved was the balance between all the sensual energy and the depth of the plot. There’s a larger game unfolding between Fate and Chaos, and Nemea is a wildcard neither of them saw coming. She’s not perfect—she’s lost, angry, overwhelmed—but she grows. She starts to see her own worth, and she learns to lean into the power that’s been hidden in her blood all along.

The cliffhanger at the end had me screaming I need the next book—because with the gods still playing chess with everyone’s lives, I know the storm has only just begun.

If you love bold heroines, monstrous lovers, high stakes, found families, emotional depth, and steam that melts pages, Scion of Chaos needs to be at the top of your TBR.

I received this as an ARC on Booksprout

Greetings, book lovers! 📚💖 I recently had the pleasure of reading *Scion of Chaos*, the enchanting first installment in Ophelia Bell’s *Lords of Pandemonium* series, and I am excited to share my thoughts!

The story follows Nemea Jones, who wakes up in a wrecked cabin—naked, bruised, and haunted by twelve hours of lost memories. As if that weren’t enough, she soon discovers that her emotions have become a powerful catalyst for chaos. The introduction of a dark, captivating stranger only heightens the stakes, threatening to turn her turbulent emotions into a full-blown inferno.

Nemea’s journey of self-discovery is both compelling and relatable. Once believing herself to be insignificant, she begins to unravel the truth about her magical heritage and the extraordinary powers that lie within her. Her longing for identity drives her to accept the stranger’s invitation, leading her on a perilous quest that takes her from a prestigious art institute nestled by the Puget Sound to the ominous depths of Tartarus.

The narrative is richly woven with elements of fantasy, mythology, and romance. Nemea encounters various mythical beings along her journey, each contributing to her evolution and challenging her understanding of power and attraction. The chemistry between Nemea and these characters adds a tantalizing layer to the story, keeping readers engaged and eager to see where her emotions will lead her next.

Ophelia Bell has crafted a vibrant and immersive world that captures the imagination. With its blend of magical creatures, gods, and formidable heroines, *Scion of Chaos* offers a thrilling escape for fans of the genre. Each twist and turn in Nemea’s journey not only entertains but also resonates on a deeper level, exploring themes of empowerment and self-acceptance.

If you’re searching for a captivating fantasy adventure filled with magic and intrigue, look no further! *Scion of Chaos* is a delightful read that will leave you eager for the next installment in this spellbinding series.

Happy reading! 🌌✨

Wow, am I in love with this book! Feisty Nemea, who is struggling to figure out what magic she has, summons Pan one night hoping for an answer, which sets into motion a chain of events that includes the Titans escaping the prison Tartarus for the mortal world, and Nemea escaping the mortal world for Tartarus.

We learn from Fate itself that Neema’s power is immense and potentially catastrophic. In order to keep her magic balanced, she needs mates. In Tartarus, she finds 9 (though at the end of this book, she’s only completed the mate bond with 6).

These characters are so well fleshed out, so indescribably real, that you experience every emotion with them — confusion, joy, frustration, lust, anger and everything in between. My heart absolutely broke for Nemea’s mates. The raw vulnerability in each is so touching it brought me to tears several times. These are creatures who never thought they could have a mate and who have had no one to lovingly caress them, to want to know them on every level, to be looked at as anything but terrifying, for thousands of years.

I would be remiss if I didn’t add that the book is packed with steamy, erotic, smexy goodness (it is an Ophelia Bell book after all). Make sure you’ve got an extra pair of batteries is all I’m sayin’.

I can happily tell you that you don’t need to be familiar with Greek mythology to understand the story. As noted in the beginning of the book, poetic license has been taken. And everything is explained anyway, so no prior knowledge is needed. If you’ve read any of Ophelia’s books, you’ll see other characters pop up or be mentioned … I was happy to see the crew from Sleeping Dragons show up. Such a fun surprise!

Fair warning: The book does end on a cliffhanger but not one that will have you throwing your kindle. I am just heartbroken for everyone. And very eagerly awaiting the next book.

This is a new series by a long-time favorite author of mine. I've been w/ her nearly from the beginning. I don't think she has written a single thing that I haven't gobbled up!

I'll be honest, I was on the fence about starting this series just because, based on the blurb, I wasn't sure it was gonna be my thing. Yeah, no worries there! There are not enough words for how hard I loved this book & series! And, BONUS, there are tie-ins & mentions to a previous series that I had no idea were gonna be there. So, SUPER glad I decided to give it a go & once I did & Deva from the Fate's Fools series was mentioned, well, hell, you KNOW I had to run right back & re-read that series first, because, well, it has been a minute & why not?! LOL

Fast-paced action in this one & even the steam has steam if you know what I mean. And, if you're checking out anything by Ophelia Bell, you KNOW what I mean! Once again, this author pulls you in from the first word & doesn't even think about letting you go until the last word. And, even then, she leaves you clamoring for when the next installment in the series drops (thankfully I've already got that one so I was all set to dive right in & boy have I!)

While I am loving this new series so hard, it has been a trip to revisit the Fate's Fools series too! Highly recommend ANYTHING & EVERYTHING by this fantastic author - she never disappoints!

5⭐️5🌶️. 18+ mature audiences only. Damn. Good. Book! This book was so complex that I kept a paper (2 pages front & back actually!) with it to take notes on about all the people, places, connections, lore, world building details, etc. It was SO good! I am totally bummed that I don’t have the second book already on my bookshelf to dive into immediately. It ends on a cliffhanger and now I’m like an addict waiting to get my hands on the next book.

Everything about this story is complex and extremely well thought out. It is wrapped around characters and Greek mythology though I honestly don’t know how tightly. I don’t have an extensive knowledge base for Greek mythology, but either way, the author does a fantastic job making this book a complex, page-turning piece of art.

The sex in extremely detailed and because it was dripping with emotion and description, I not only felt like I was there but like I was a participant. So hot. And the “monster/beasts” are all described in a way that gives the ability to picture them and their surroundings. It was so good.

I loved the desire for most everyone to feel the capacity and earnest desire to accept others’ differences and embrace them. There is nothing to compare to feeling when a character feels like they are exactly who they should be when they are themselves. Felt… redeeming and honest.

Again, very complex story. Don’t read if you like fluffy romances… this is not that. Happy reading!

If you enjoy Greek mythology with a twist, Scion of Chaos is definitely for you. The story follows Nemea, a heroine with chaos in her veins, whose attempt to summon demons from the underworld goes terribly wrong. Instead of demons, she meets Pan, one of her destined mates, and accidentally unleashes chaos that shakes the underworld itself.

Tartarus—both a prison and a person—steps in to contain the damage and wipe her memories, leaving Nemea confused and desperate for answers. When he returns to earth, she follows him into the underworld, where she discovers that not only Tartarus but also the prison guards are bound to her as mates.

As Tartarus pursues escaped prisoners, Nemea struggles with the possibility of being trapped in the underworld forever. Her fears drive her to leave, but when she’s taken to a village for safety, she’s captured—leaving her powerful mates torn between their mission and their desperation to save her.

This book is packed with mythology, danger, passion, and the perfect dose of tension. If you love fated mates, high stakes, and mythological twists, you’ll be hooked from page one!.

Cliff hanger warning.

Nemea wakes up in a destroyed house, with several hours lost from her memory banks with what looks like the remnants of an erotic night on her.

She has many questions and it seems that every time she thinks she’s getting close to regaining the lost hours she hits a brick wall. As she gets more anxious her powers begin to manifest which leads to more questions.

What she does discover is that she is bonded to more than 8 males and a female and possibly more on the horizon.

Along the way we get to meet her various partners and not all of them are fully humanoid. There is a lot and I mean a lot of horizontal time with Nemea happily jumping from one partner to the next with very little real development or depth to many of her pairings.

While parts of me can understand her growing anxiety and her search for answers, she seemed to react like a flighty pre-tween at times throwing temper tantrums, the poor pitiful me stance to the do you like me?

Just as it seems that Nemea may get some answers the book ends on a cliff hanger, which can either make me want to see what happens next of for me to just let my own mind fill in the rest…

I received an ARC and I am leaving an honest review.

Scion of Chaos (Lords of Pandemonium #1) was my first book by Ophelia Bell and I was absolutely blown away. The world-building, the story telling, a huge cast of characters, and some intriguing spicy times all made this such an uputdownable (yes, I made that word up lol) book.

Our FMC Nemea has drifted through her young life knowing that she was different and trying to find where she would fit in and be wanted, as well as trying to figure out exactly what she is. She ends up at St. George’s and under the instruction of some interesting instructors. After summoning a god during a ritual, Nemea starts to come into her power.

This introduces her to not only the god that she summoned, Pan, but more importantly to our man Tartarus. Yes he is both a person as well as a place, the famous mythological prison. Such an interesting take on mythology and I found myself googling characters from mythology, alongside reading this story. I love books that make me think and want to know more!

Besides meeting so many characters, there is a big mission that involves everyone. And even beyond that, they are all subjected to the rivalry and whims of Fate and Chaos. Cannot wait to get into book 2 and find out what adventures await our feisty FMC Nemea and all of her mates.

This book has so many twists and turns! Nemea lives on an island where she attends a school for people with magic in their blood. Their are 4 elemental magic based bloodlines, but Nemea doesn't know what she is. After performing a ritual to summon a god, she awakens in a destroyed cabin with no memory of who she was with or what happened. But she knows something must have happened as her powers seem to have been awakened and she is quickly becoming a threat to those around her. Tartarus or Vesh as he's known in his humanoid form, is some how linked to Nemea and she doesn't know why or how. He comes to take her away to keep her safe, keeping her inside the prison of Tartarus so no one can get to her, but when she also starts creating bonds with his 8 other prison guards, there may be more to her than any of them realise. With Fate and Chaos at odds and playing games trying to get one over the other, everyone becomes a pawn in their play. Great book with brilliant world building and character development, cant wait for the next book!.

Scion of Chaos is the first installment in the Lords of Pandemonium series. Scion of Chaos is a fantastic dark monster romance story that is beautifully written, well-balanced with romance and action, and perfectly executed by Author Ophelia Bell. Author Ophelia Bell continues to take me by surprise with her amazing storytelling and writing skills and with the way she creates these masterpieces of romance stories. While reading Scion of Chaos, I found that I didn’t want to set this amazing book down until I had read the last page of the book. Scion of Chaos follows the journey of Nemea and Typhon who are phenomenally well-developed/written and beautifully executed by Author Ophelia Bella. This author is becoming one of my new favorite authors to read because I feel that she creates stories that capture my attention right away. Scion of Chaos is most definitely a book that I would give as a suggestion for anyone who enjoys reading dark monster romance stories. I’m definitely looking forward to seeing what else Author Ophelia Bell will come up with for her next book.

This story wasn't easy to jump into, but once I learned more about the characters and the plot, I flew through it.

Nemea is a VERY strong female lead character, and she is on a quest to learn more about her magic and where it comes from. She feels lucky to have ended up at the St. George School of Crafts, where people come to learn about their bloodline. People also go because fate magic brings them there to find a partner. And fate is definitely at work for Nemea!
And apparently, her magic descends from a number of different bloodlines - including Chaos. Her fated come to steal her away to Tartarus, where they feel that she will be the safest. While she's there, she learns that she can begin to control her magic while bonding with all of them. Bonding includes sex and let me tell you - woooooooo!!!! The men (and beasts) want nothing more than to please her. Like, what can be better than that?! And they are more than willing to share!

But holy cliffhanger.....you are left wanting more when the story ends abruptly leaving you to wonder what the heck is going to happen next. I guess we just need to read the next book in the Lords of Pandemonium series to find out!

I received a copy of this book to review - and so glad I did!

I've waited along time for this second book. It was very much worth it.

Great continuing story with a great cast of characters. It did start off a bit slow for me. I got bogged down in the needed details. It wasn't too long for me to just fall into the story.
A lot going on with our lil miss. And the bevy of males that surround her.
I thought Pan was adorable. V I get him, he did some shady thing, but I get it. At the end of this story I was annoyed with our lil miss and our author. Hmmm mmm.
The primordials pffftt are doing just what they do use people though some try to dress it up as something else. Fate/chaos is just that.
Lil missed jumped the gun and got blissfully distracted. She needs to take some of the blame.
Anywho, things are never what they seem when dealing with a primordial.
Story... scenes... characters all meshed well emotions layered, love tested. Fights to be... fought, bonds made. The heat off the charts, the bit of kink like crazy.
Loved and recommend. Enjoy.

Nemea wakes up with stolen memories and newfound powers, and is drawn into a world of mythical beings and enigmatic desires. The story follows Nemea through her quest for self-discovery, unveiling her strong yet flawed self, seeking family and belonging. The diverse and intriguing male characters guarding the supernatural prison, Tartarus, add depth to the tale. Nemea's journey unfolds from an isolated island to the depths of Tartarus, promising an enticing blend of suspense and romance. She shares intense relationships and erotic encounters with her partners, which are balanced by her resilience and relatable struggle, even as she's determined to harness her latent elemental power. While Nemea does have a relationship with multiple mates, they are a diverse group of mates, distinct and well-developed, which is a problem in some RH stories. The story blends elements of Greek mythology, magic, and steamy romance, making for an impressive world-building experience. Spicy, enchanting RH tale that merges mythology, fantasy, and romance, though things do end on a cliffhanger.

In the beginning, i tought this is the second book, cause they were talking about previous event that cause injury to one of them.
The situation did explained in few chapter after, but still this first book talk alot about previous events that makes me feel i'm loosing so many moments. And still i wonder, the school Nemea at, is kinda like Hogwart??

The author is new for me. I cant exactly explain, but her writing style feels like she need to talk about 1a to 1b them all the way to 1z before actually going to the exact point 1.

The steamy scenes were... Lots of body parts🤣
Not just because its reverse harem, but because these gods, demigod, beings, myth creatures have more "magic" in them.

But talking about steamy scenes, why the need to put side charachter steamy scene?

Too many side charachters.

The world the author created was good.

Nemea is a young woman trying to figure out who and for that matter just what she is. Strange powerful mishaps are occurring and she is slightly frightened. Finding she is chaos and fated to not one, not two but nine others is shocking. Nemea thought tartarus was just a myth a place when in fact its a person. Tartarus is a prison for criminals the gods and other primordials condemn. Vesh is tartarus and he and his brothers Typhon and Erebus are also part chos. They along with five others are the guardians of tartarus. Pan, Asterius, Cerberus, Campe Chrysaor and Alcides are former prisoners who vesh has connected with to form a bond that protects tartarus from trouble. At least until Fate and Nemea reek havoc with their emotions. As the titans manage a prison break due to this chaos the 10 form a bond that will hopefully fix the mishap as well as make the group a tight cohesive unit again.

Nemea is granted a new lease in her life. She is sent to a school for magical powers. She is confused by the so called random acts of destruction, the school has been through. She has friends there, who all try to comfort her. Nemea discovers a shack and some weird glass that is littered on the nearby beach. She can manipulate it and form it to her whim.
One time she found enough pieces to form a dildo. She drew several pictures from her mind. Hoping to capture what they all meant. Wanting to use the dildo she experimented with her emotions with her being in the shack. She summoned Pan! He was shocked by this. Vesh is the warden of the prison of mythological creatures who defied the gods. Vesh found Pan and travelled to the location. She is fated to nine!
Nemea has multiple abilities in her bloodline. Chaos being one of them.
This story had a lot to unpack, dragons and fate, chaos, and magic. All intertwined into a wonderful book that is a series. Big cliffy at the end of this one.

Honestly, I had a hard time getting into this book. I loved the idea and premise of this story! However, there ended up being SO many characters that this FMC comes in contact with and just instantly "trusts". There is no relationship development or hesitation on her part. She just jumps straight to "I trust you. Take me to bed." And I felt like she did that A LOT. It was apparently the only way for her to control and learn about her powers ?? By making her way through this laundry list of mates.

There were also characters that were introduced that felt rushed (the archeologist). "We've never met but I need your help and blind trust." "Okay, I trust you. Let's go."

I liked it, it wasn't my favorite. I will read the rest of the series as I know sometimes the next book is better and I am interested to see what happens to our FMC after she's done with all her bed hopping.

This book is a twist on Greek mythology, adding a RH aspect. It was so good that when it ended I was upset. It ends in a cliffhanger but can’t wait for the next one.

This book is SPICY. The amount of creative peens, size differences, come and different aspects was very enjoyable. This book had one of the biggest size difference I have seen and wow it was fun 👀 sounding a dragon with her arm? I’m here for it 😂

The story was really engaging and well written. I can’t wait to see how it unfolds. I wonder if chaos will be right and what happens with the titans and all the guards. I hope she patches things up because these monsters really deserve the love.

Kinks included:
Sharing
Double vaginal penetration
Sounding
Cervix penetration
Pierced cock
Masturbation
Self pleasure with dragon heads
Mention of MM
Size difference
Shadows
Drinking come
Voyeurism
Exhibition.

If I have to be honest, I liked it on certain points, and was a little let down at others.
I haven't read anything from this author yet, but I was thrown into a world I know nothing about. Especially in the beginning, where they talked about previous events. I was like: did I have to read another series first? But it was explained later on.
I read my fair share of Alien and Monster smut, but this one threw me for a loop. I'm all for RH's, but I need some tension. Not instant trust and lust. I do understand the FMC wanting to have answers, but a little apprehension goes a long way.
Didn't like the smut scenes with side characters. I want a love story that feels earned, not one that excists because just because it is.
But overall, I enjoyed the story, and although the cliffhanger is good, I didn't feel as connected to the characters the way I wanted.

It was another great start to another great series by Ophelia.. I couldn't put it down and read it the whole way through the night iuntil I was done with it.. Nemea is a kick ass and take names kind of girl.. All 9 of her love interests are the same way.. So this whole series is going to be great.. I like how she works her older books into this series to try to keep the flow going.. I love how she uses her lovers alternate appearances during sexy times also.. unfortunately in this first book she doesn't become lovers with all nine of her love interests so we will have to wait and see what happens in the following books.. I would recommend this book to anybody that loves reverse harems and just any kind of romance that deals with paranormal romance even..
