Great book for thinking through an action strategy for artificial light management. It provides a lot of information on the why-going much deeper than "so we can see the stars". Well organized to make the case for fighting light pollution and then provide practical tools for picking fixtures and taking appropriate actions. It also provides a good launch pad for community action.

Great introduction and overview of the Dark-Sky movement from the leaders of the International Dark Sky Association. We are all aware of light pollution, but the details and the simple solutions are not as apparent without a good education on the issues. This book motivated my to not only change the lighting at my business, but also gave me the ability to discuss and educate the issues with others. A great launching pad into helping us all become more aware of our light pollution ignorance.

This is a great book for anyone who wants to know the research behind protecting our night skies. It's a great resource, but I wouldn't recommend it for someone new to the topic; books like "The End of Night" have an emotional and poetic nature that will appeal more strongly to the human mind. Let's be honest--facts alone can change an opinion, but a story sure can help.
