A concise, well-written summary of the history of the New World. What I enjoy most about Brading's work is that he writes in such a way that provides enough material to know about a general topic, but also leaves one wondering what happens next. In this way, one is driven towards the more specific texts. I often return to Brading and find something new to explore in further detail in other texts as a result.
Obra maestra.
