With the Organisation hot on their trail and their powers growing stronger by the day; JJ Carson and Darcie Duffield are more determined than ever to save Fortune’s Well from the looming darkness.
But when history threatens to repeat itself, and an unseen foe is watching their every move, who will make the ultimate sacrifice to save them all and bring about the end of days?
Days End is the highly anticipated conclusion to the Fortune’s Well trilogy.
I have been writing stories since I was a very young child, and I write for the same reason I read a lot; I have to! It is always the character that comes to me first, usually a unique and persistent voice with a particular dilemma or circumstance. The rest of the story and plot will flow from there, but I will have had many conversations with the character before I start to write! I love writing dialogue, and personally wince when I read dialogue that seems unrealistic or false. I think my work is character driven, and falls under the gritty contemporary fiction genre.
The third book in the Fortune’s Well series by Chantelle Atkins and Sim Sansford. I really enjoyed Days End, as I did the other two books in the series. Days End wrapped up the storyline in a convincing, emotional and exciting way. The ending of book three was superb. I really liked what they did with JJ’s character and the build up to this!
You’ll appreciate this if you like stories that are focused primarily on two main characters, Darcie and JJ, written by two authors who gel well together. The chapters alternate between these two main protagonists in first person pov.
The beginning is a little slower than previous books in the series.
I liked the message this book gives: that you will do anything for the person you love. That’s powerful. That’s this books raison d’etre. That’s my take on it, anyway.
It’s a great supernatural young adult series which I have enjoyed reading throughout and can recommend. It’s best to start with book 1 to get the full picture, but if needed this can be read as a standalone.
Highly recommended. There is a teaser at the end Tales from Fortune Well… so perhaps they have plans to write more with these two characters. I hope so!
Where did I find it: I won the first book from the author, and after reading it, went straight onto the second. I’ve been eagerly awaiting the publication of this third instalment.
What I liked: the well loved characters. It was like putting on a familiar and comfortable jumper. I really enjoyed being around them again. JJ Carson and Darcie are such great people, and this story perfectly takes you into their world once more. There is such a lot to enjoy as the teenagers deal with different situations. They have super powers which they are honing and perfecting. There is also a new character whose power is something very different. I loved the gradual building of tension that led up to the ending, and wow, what an explosive finish!
What I didn’t like: there was nothing that I didn’t like, except for the end where I was left wondering. It’s not a cliff hanger as such. Everything is resolved, but there is this question mark. Could there be another book? I hope so.
Overall: the trilogy is vastly enjoyable. It’s a young adult story, but what a punch! It can be thoroughly enjoyed by all ages. There is no sex, drugs, or roll n roll, just a powerfully engaging, and darkly entertaining storyline. I would recommend it to everyone who enjoys reading.
After escaping the tunnels, JJ and Daisy decide to keep their friends close and enemies closer and work things out whilst trying to lead a normal life. That, unfortunately doesn’t work for long. JJ feels like he’s going crazy, Daisy feels the presence of an unseen force and their families are being watched and attacked from all sides. Decision to explore the tunnels reveals more secrets and put them in further danger. Not knowing who they can trust makes things just a tad more complicated. Emotions are running high for JJ and Daisey but with the help of new friends, Jenna and Henry they might just beat the odds. This is a fabulous finale to a great series and I would love Netflix to pick this up and do some magic with it, it would make a great tv series. I cannot wait to read more books by the authors. I thoroughly enjoyed the series and would recommend to anyone that likes supernatural, YA, drama and more.
Having read the previous two parts and enjoyed them I was fairly confident that I would also like this one. The book has the same great overall effect, a generous dose of supernatural and sense of tension and danger, mixed with a high school feel of teenage friendship and relationships. The main characters which we met in the previous parts are further developed and expanded upon which was interesting. I wasn’t 100% as invested in this part as the prior ones, but it was an entertaining and worthwhile read nonetheless.
days end by Chantelle Atkins. Fortune's Well Book 3. With the Organisation hot on their trail and their powers growing stronger by the day; JJ Carson and Darcie Duffield are more determined than ever to save Fortune’s Well from the looming darkness. A good read. I liked JJ and Darcie. I didn't trust Isaac. I do hope there is more to come. 4*.
What a finale to a brilliant series of books! I feel as if I know the two main characters personally as they are so well written. With fast paced writing and many twists, I can highly recommend this series.
The third and final book in the Fortune’s Well series kicks off in the aftermath of book 2. Darcie and JJ are trying to get back to living normal, teenage lives, but as their own powers continue to develop, and they find even more Fortune’s Well residents with abilities, it’s time to finally uncover the long-held secrets of their powers and where they came from. The duel POV of this series continues to be a highlight, especially when it’s written by two different authors so seamlessly. They’ve crafted the perfect ending for the series, one full of reveals, and twists, and guaranteed to pull on the heartstrings.
