*3.5* "Love is our strength; love is our vulnerability."

In an ocean of glowing reviews, my feelings run a bit more conflicted with the overall story. I liked it, but didn't love it.

Random thoughts:

This book is about two people who have lost their spouses years earlier.

It has a Kristen Ashley feel to it. There were overly long descriptive paragraphs about making food and clothing choices. It had a bit of a 'beach read' feel to it.

I love that this story had two main characters over the age of 35, and the author did a very good job of describing the emotions of what it's like to lose a loved one.

There were some incredibly poignant moments and conversations throughout the story.

Why were there so many side characters? They sucked the emotional pull from the main characters.

I can't quite put my finger on what exactly bugged me about Rhys. But he was a cardboard cutout of what a generic woman might lust after. A hard-working carpenter, who owns his own business, over 6 feet tall, heavily tattooed, gorgeous eyes and a head full of hair. Not to mention his amazing ass and his sexy and flirty personality. Of course ow want him when they're out together, and he mentions a few times how easy it is for him to pick up a woman.

Do you ever think it's a good idea to take your current girlfriend to a restaurant where you know your ex girlfriend works as a waitress? Idiot.

It was also annoying that he had been with more than a handful of women since his wife died while Bex had been alone the entire time after losing her husband.

There were some significant editing errors, which normally never faze me. However, there were full paragraphs that were duplicated, so that was a bit distracting.

Multiple pov works well, but the switch from first person to third person didn't.

For me as a reader, one of the greatest pleasures in indie publishing is finding a new author I can follow through a long writing career, finding hours of escape in dozens of outstanding romance stories. And I’ve found the latest gem in a sky full of stars. This gifted writing wrapped around me like the softest blanket, seeing me through the emotional dips and swells of a truly beautiful, remarkable story.

Grief affects each of us differently. For Rebecca Cleaver, the loss of her husband holds her mired in grief for years after his death. Through a chronic illness that teaches her to be discerning about where she invests her energy and the help of a few close friends, Bex picks herself up. She may not be ready to live life fully yet, but at least she's no longer simply waiting to die.

Bex spends her time metalsmithing her jewelry line, sharing precious time with friends who have become family, and managing her illness. She's decided it's time to fix up her marital home and put it up for sale, but she's completely unprepared for contractor Rhys Griffin when he walks through her front door. Rhys knows a lot about love and loss, and he recognizes a kindred spirit in Bex. He also intuits Bex’s fragile state requires careful handling.

Part romance and part women's fiction with its evocative impact, Sloane's impartial narration somehow manages a lyrical quality and elicits overwhelming emotion in the reader. With no effort at all, these unexpected characters burrowed into my soul and their every thought and sentiment became my own. Their story is epically beautiful, painfully authentic, devastatingly heart-breaking and exquisitely tender, yet strikingly uplifting and inspiring.

This fresh new voice with poetic prose and a unique style is a rising star in romanctic fiction. This subject matter and style may not be for every reader, but for those who love a good heart-rending, emotional story, I urge you to give this extraordinary story a chance. It is, without a doubt, the best debut I’ve ever read in sentimental romance and a shining star in its own right. These characters will own your heart, and your life will be richer for having known them.

I've read hundreds of romance books but it's been years since one made me ugly cry (almost an entire box of tissues!) and then slowly found a way to stitch my heart back together again. I honestly had to take a short break for part of the day after reading the loss of Jack. I just couldn't read on for a bit because it hurt so much. That's how good Sloane's writing is! But I knew from the blurb about Rhys and of course I knew this was an HEA so I kept going, still thinking there was no way Rhys could capture my heart after Jack had already done so. Hey! That's kind of similar to how Bex felt!

But oh, holy heart of a man, Rhys! He was everything I was waiting for (for Bex of course...though a little for me too). Rhys was the PERFECT mix of dirty and sweet talk. The PERFECT mix of all man but one who wasn't scared to let his heart shine through. The slow burn all the way to their first kiss and then the steamy times was torturous but so worth it.

I loved Bex and her growth to healing but the men (Jack and Rhys) in this book were the stars for me. I absolutely fell in love with them and you will too!

Favorite quotes:
"I loved it that I was in him and now he was in me."
"And when you have it all, you have everything to lose."

Author Devin Sloane has crafted a beautiful story that will positively break your heart, but then slowly, tenderly and expertly mend it back together. Rebecca loses the love of her life at a tragically young age, and then retreats under a veil of grief and pain for years, coping both with the loss of her husband and fibromyalgia. It is not until an intriguing new contractor comes into her life and home (literally) that she dares to peek out from beneath that veil and dares to imagine living and maybe even loving again.

I can’t say enough good things about this love story or this author’s gorgeous use of words. Sloane also has music in her heart and uses it wisely to set the tone for each scene as you go on Bex and Rhys’ journey. Be sure to tune into her curated Spotify list provided with the book to enhance your experience. I can’t wait to explore the story of side characters Mara and Zale, in her new sequel.

Get the tissues! You're going to need them for this incredible book filled with grief, loss, and straight-up swoon-worthy love.

Bex was crushed when her husband died seven years ago.
I don't want to get married again, ever, or even fall in love.
But she never expected to meet someone like Rhys.
He was getting reallocated to the friend zone and decided he wanted none of it.
Rhys re-lit Bex's world and her fear of loving and losing again couldn't stop it.
He made me feel like I was important to him.
Gah! These two were amazing together. Their story completely warmed my jaded heart. The writing was flawless . . .
There was an edge to him, but it was an edge I knew would never cut me.
. . . and I can't wait to get my greedy little hands on Mara and Zale's book!! Breathe Again (Bridgewater #2) by Devin Sloane here I come.

Live Again- Devin Sloane

This is a romance and follows Bex as she grieves her husband. Seven years later, she meets Rhys and has to decide if the pain of possibly losing him is worth having him at all.

Jack. Man, his story and the life story of him and Bex broke my heart. Tore it to pieces and left me a shattered mess on the floor. The writing made it feel like, as a reader, you were there. Bex pulling herself together, of course with Mara and Willow’s help made me love them so much too.

Bex (Rebecca) is the FMC, and she is something else. She is so strong, and tells it how it is even if it’s hard to hear. Her character was so palpable, every single thing that she was feeling was easily felt through the pages. Rhys is the main male character and he blew me away. He is strong (mentally and physically), sexy, and perfect for Bex.

The chemistry between Bex and Rhys was amazing to read, and so funny too, especially in the beginning. This was a slower burn, and not one of my typical reads. With that said, it blew me away though I didn’t actually begin to feel the story until about 20% in. Devin writes with such great detail and spent a lot of time truly developing the characters, which makes it so easy to want to read Breathe Again (Book Two) for Mara and Zale’s story. It’s definitely a 5/5 star read for me.

Wow! Wow, wow, wow. It has been a long time since I have read a book that drew me in emotionally as much as Live Again did! I love an emotional rollercoaster story and this one is just that!

Devin created two beautiful main characters that I was rooting for from the very start. She is masterful at portraying incredible detail into every aspect of the story. I literally felt as though I was walking right along side them in their journey to their HEA.

Side characters were perfect and supporting the story so well. I seriously cannot say enough how well done Live Again was. I can't wait to dive into the rest of the Bridgewater series.

Well this was an ovewhelming beautiful dish served with emotion, feels and a tissue box. I did not expect the author to be so indepth with a few topics and moments but she was! Just wow. The topic of Jack was covered alot which I found beautiful, as most reads do only a light skim and a few special moments. However, Devin made sure that we too would feel the lose of Jack even as Rhys enters the picture for Bex. Just wonderful.
Also, the chapter titles are fantastic.

Oh Bex and Rhys. Your love affair was the slowest burn ever. I waited and waited and waited and waited- then it was like every single feeling I’ve ever felt for these characters hit me like a ton of bricks.

When you read this book- you need to- prepare for the fire to be ignited by sticks and a rock; keep reading it’s so so so worth it. The love and the fireworks between this couple after loss is remarkable.

While this book has a trigger warning for loss; it’s a very good read. You will feel all the things. This literacy work is such a hopeful, loving, and wholesome story.

Keep reading if you want a little more… kinda spoiler below.

Bex is a woman who lives in the beautiful memory of her past. She can’t move on. She’s tried and failed. She has a tribe of women who push her to explore her life but then she’s met with a tall and tattooed contractor, Rhys.

Rhys shows her compassion by going sweet and slow in their new relationship because he knows how hard it is to move on. Their kindred spirits get close.

The unthinkable happens and a rollercoaster of emotions begin for the reader.
Our author ends this love story with a HEA but you definitely will want so much more.

Breathe Again - Book two is available now so you don’t have to wait to put your heart back together thank goodness!

The first few minutes into Live Again and I was in tears.

I felt everything Bex felt and it bleed out onto the pages I was reading.
The story is so relatable for so many, even myself.

I have suffered loss and learning to live on after is hard.

Bex and Rhys what a beautiful couple. Rhys is the sexy handyman who has suffered a loss himself.
He to knows how Bex feels and as the pair grows closer so does the attraction between them.
The chemistry is off the charts.

Devin Sloane is a new to me author but I am absolutely thrilled I was asked to read this book.

This book has been such a joy to read. Heartbreaking but very beautiful!

I cannot wait to read the next book.

Deep and emotional story from the heart.

I've said this before but it must be said again ...when discussing The Bridgewater series there is no other way to describe it than extremely deep, emotional, raw, real and all together relatable.

I've ended up reading these backwards (as I read Breathe Again first) but it's okay as they're standalones however probably better read in order. This is Rhys and Rebecca's (Bex) story. Both mc's have lost their spouse (soul mate/one true love) and are dealing with the way it affects your life not only in the moment but years down the road as well. Their story also shows how grief not only affects the choices you make but sometimes can also affect your mental and physical health (as in Rebecca's case). Thankfully Bex's friends "begin" to pull her out of the abyss and once Rhys (mister understanding and patience personified..oh and looks like a "Norse god") comes into the picture she can finally learn to live again (of course after a few setbacks).

Jack:
“But worse than that, is the total devastation I feel when I think of no one holding you,” he continued in a whisper, “It makes me want to weep.” ... "I’ll still be waiting for you, and if you love someone else by then, I will make room for them, too. You find someone to love. You let someone love you.”

Rhys:
"It’s an honor to care for you.” ... "I felt his kiss to my soul, like the first time. He leaned his forehead against mine, “You feel that, Rebecca? ... That’s happiness."

Seriously I cried for like the first 5 to 6 chapters ... straight...solid crying... um I had to hide out the bedroom so the fams wouldn't be freaked out...lol. Never fear though as there are lots of fun, sexy/steamy times and a whole bunch of amazing secondary characters you'll fall in love with too.

If you're looking for a light and fluffy read (I love those too) this book and series is not for you... but if you're wanting a deep emotional read with a lot of heart then I highly recommend!

I rate this book a 3.5. This was an enjoyable book. I loved how Rebecca grew and was able to better deal with her grieving and be able to find love again. We start off with her relationship with her husband, with whom she shared a deep and enduring love. When he suddenly becomes sick and dies, her whole world falls apart.

Through close friends, Mara, Zale and Willa, who are like family to her, they help her heal. And indirectly they help her find love again with a handsome and sweet man, Rhys.

But Bex is hesitant to bring romantic love back into her life and feels she would just be content to be friends with Rhys. It was great to find out what type of journey Bex was willing to take with Rhys. I enjoyed this book and recommend this read.

Simply wow.... Big sigh....

This book blew me away. On so many levels. The love, the pain, the sorrow, the angst, the reawakening, then finding the light again and then finding friendship and then love, but most importantly, finding her again. Oh yeah and more love and a new family.

Live Again had it all. Literally it had it all. I giggled, I cried, I sighed....a lot!! I laughed, my heart ached and then by the end of this beautifully written book, my heart was full.

For me, for a book to get me to react the way I did thoughout the reading of this beautiful story, tells me the Author did a freaking amazing job of painting a picture so well that I had no choice but to jump on the rollercoaster ride and hang on tight.

The way Devine wrote about Bex and Jack and loosing Jack was extremely sad but beautifully written. Even from Rhys POV about Amy and the different things he experienced was just so breath takingly heartbreakingly sad, yet eye opening as well.

Bex was a lovely character and I felt her pain and the way her character went through her journey except at about 85% I was heard to yell WTH BEX.... But I digress....

Rhys was such an amazing character and so insightful with how he managed his relationship with Amy and then Bex.

I seriously love multiple POV's. I would have liked a bit more from Rhys at the 85% mark that's for sure.

How everything was handled throughout this story was such a joy to read even when I am wiping away my tears.

Even all the secondary characters were a great addition to this story. I certainly look forward to reading Mara's story and hopefully Willa's.

I think I found a new favourite Author and one I can't wait to see where she takes me with this series.

I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily leave my honest review.

There are some books and some authors that have an ability to touch your heart and leave an everlasting mark on your soul and that is exactly what happened with Live Again by Devin Sloane.

Now I will be honest I wasn’t expecting to enjoy this novel as much as I did, and there was a time when I wasn’t sure if I would finish it. But I turned a page and read a sentence and continued to fall in love with the world and the characters that Devin had created.

The relationship between Bex and Rhys was simply stunning full on depth and growth. It was a refreshing change of pace to read a novel with love, loss, humour and spice based around older characters who have lived and loved and are learning how to live and love when they have lost so much.

Devin Sloan has created a expansive and engaging world where even the side characters are enthralling and completely captivating. She could easily write spin offs for each and every character and their relationships and I would happily sit down to read them time and time again.

In a world where we need instant gratification Devin Sloan teaches us how to have patience, how to be dedicated, how to be determined and allows us a space to remember that good things come to those who wait but you need to be willing to work for it also.

I am so blessed to have found another amazing author to follow and support.

I had to take a breather after finishing this amazing novel, before writing this review. I’d like to start by commending Devin Sloane for her thoughtful portrayal of Rebecca. She’s not only hurting physically, but emotionally and mentally too. My heart goes out to her and I just wanted to give her a big hug and let her know that everything is going to be alright.

Grief is a powerful thing and Rebecca showed us that there’s life after a loss, we just have to be willing to take it, fight for it, and believe that we deserve it. She was the star of this book for me, I loved seeing her come out of the journey from sorrow to contentment.

Strength comes from within and there’s no better example of that than Rebecca’s. Read this book! You will not be disappointed.

This is a book where you need to keep the tissues close by as parts of it can completely gut you. Both Rebecca/Bex and Rhys lost their respective spouses tragically and while we get details on both sides of their shared tragedy the story is weighted more towards Rebecca.

After losing her husband to cancer Rebecca pretty much climbed into the grave with him and gave up on life and on herself. Subsequently her grief really did a number on both her mind and her body. Her first baby steps back into living again has her running smack dab into sexy Rhys. There is an immediate attraction that Bex tries to squash as she is still struggling with letting go of Jack. Thankfully Rhys has decided that the world has given him a gift that he fully intends to keep and that he can start creating a new future with and is not allowing Bex to retreat.

Rhys, while definitely an alpha knows he has to thread carefully with Bex when he begins to woo her. Boy does he ever have patience and a great sense of humor to help ease Bex back into taking a risk on them. The slow seduction is swoon worthy and you are drawn in as these two start seeing the possibilities of something wonderful happening.

Mara, Willa and Olivia, the females in Rebecca’s life showed the many caring facets within her. Mara is her anchor of love and at times the one that kicked her in the rear when she needed it. Olivia, Mara’s young daughter with her sweetness just melted your heart. For me all of the secondary players provided a good balance and fleshing out of the story.

Rhys that man knew when to push and to pull, when to coddle and when to be firm all while being sexy, smart and very endearing. He has past demons from his wife Amy that sometimes he has to be aware of. Plus an adorable set of twins that light up his world.

What I think would have picked up the pacing in the story and made it tighter was taking away some of Rebecca’s day to day mechanism that for me was bogging the story down. Along with the predictable bump that happened which was also drawn out past where it should have been. I would have liked to have more moments of Rhys’ kids and to be honest a bit more Rhys and a little less Rebecca (since we had soooo much of her) to balance out the story a bit more. Other than that, it was a great story about overcoming loss, and learning how to live again. Giving yourself permission to accept new love and realize it’s not taking the place of old love just giving you a new heart beat to hold.

I received an ARC and I am leaving a voluntary review.

Where does one begin with this first book in the Bridgewater Series? Well let me tell you, I began with tears. Big tears for at least the first quarter of the book. My heart just completely shattered for Bex and Jack. (As I reach for another Kleenex) just thinking about it again.

I mean to find a love like that in life and have it slowly ripped from you by disease and to watch the digression of the one you loved. Bex for the next few years just existed. The first year for her was horrible, the not going out, she couldn’t sleep in her bedroom any longer, and was attached to the couch and not showering.

The quote in the book where she was talking to Maya:
“The truth is,” I paused trying to control the volume of my voice, “I don’t want to . I don’t want to do any of that. I want to curl up” I pointed to the family room. “On that fucking couch,” I was shouting now, my voice thick with tears, but I couldn’t rein it in, “and wait to fucking die!”
Thankfully, she had Mara, who was a godsend and helped her put one small step in front of the next and helped her, asking her live for her until she could live for herself. She pushed herself outside of her pain and encouraged her to not give up on life.

Years later, when she looked in the mirror and really evaluated her life, she knew she had to start living again, she made a bucket list of the things she wanted to start doing in order to live life again. She met Rhys through a recommendation from Mara and Zale for a contractor.

Rhys being a strong confident man, he was such a patient and strong man for Bex. I loved how he knew what Bex needed and at the time she needed it. He never pushed her, until she was ready to give herself over to him.

The chemistry between them was sizzling hot. Their love and them being able to get a second chance at a second true love was so heart warming for me. Bex was scared at first at the possibility of having to experience loss again. I am glad she seeked helped and was able to find her way back to Rhys.

I devoured this story. I loved the realness of it. The romance between a couple who weren’t in their 20s, and showing that love can come again even after a tragic loss. That there is still life to live, even though the thought is scary to do it by yourself. I loved the elements of the chronic disease, because lets be real after your 30s (well for me who also has a chronic condition) you wake up feeling like crap a lot. I just loved this story. It had a HEA which I love, but has the realness of life and the difficulties that you encounter, but it brings you hope that you will find your way through.

Live Again (Bridgewater #1) - Devin Sloane

ARC provided in exchange for an honest review.

::: SPOILER-FREE REVIEW :::

Rating: 5 STARS!!!!⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Devin knows how to hit you right in the feels with this book. In every single chapter. I really thought I would be okay reading Live Again. That there would be no tears… boy was I wrong.💔😭

My emotions were working overtime while reading this, as were my tear ducts. I will say, however, that by the end, I had such a big smile on my face and my heart was filled with so much happiness, that the tears were more than worth it.💖

The story follows Rebecca as she copes with the loss of her husband Jack. She needed someone to renovate her house which leads her to Rhys.

I really feel like certain people come into you life for a reason. Rebecca and Rhys came into each others life to help heal one another. They both needed each other equally. I loved these two together. I loved that Rhys was never jealous about her love for Jack.

Rhys *melts with pure delight!*😍🤤🤤
My new book boyfiend 🤭😍

Devin wrote the most beautiful, emotional and heart-wrenching story. The characters are so lovable and even though this book made me cry, it also made me smile big time. It made me want to live my life to the fullest, to Do great every day, to tell people I love that I love them and to hold on to them as much as I can. And that is why I love this book so much. 💖

Final thoughts: You won’t be disappointed. You will feel and break. That’s guaranteed. But by the end you will have no disappointments. This was another EPIC story by an amazing author.

If you’re looking for a romance that pulls at your heart strings, this book definitely fits the bill! Live Again is a heartwarming romance featuring Bex, a 42 year old woman who lost everything when her husband Jack died. The book starts by taking you through glimpses of their love story and how it ended. I may have shed a few tears reading about her grief, but reading through her experience gives the book emotional weight that makes you root for Bex, and understand her fears.

Bex is afraid to move on, but she is instantly intrigued by her contractor Rhys. He’s handsome and intriguing and has a past of his own. Their love story isn’t easy, but it is lovely.

I love how this book features a love story between people in their fourties, and also people who have lost their partner, and honour those relationships, while still realizing that they deserve to move on and be happy. It’s refreshing to read a love story where there’s no games. It doesn’t mean it’s all smooth sailing, but Rhys and Bex both have to decide what they want, and if they can risk falling in love again. 💕

✨Live Again is available on Kindle Unlimited✨

Thank you so much to the author for sending me a free copy of the ebook! I’m leaving this review just because I want to ☺️

Bex & Rhys. What a story. While the chemistry was evident from the moment they met, what really brought them together was both losing the love of their life. Bex struggled. A lot. Although I’ve not dealt with the loss of a spouse, it came pretty close & experiencing her emotions was hard. My heart broke for her. She lived in the past struggling to move on not knowing who she was anymore. Rhys. Where can I find him?!?! Not only is he sexy AF, but he’s genuine, patient, kind -all the things you could ever hope to find. So much of this story was centered on grief & it’s so very different for each of us. Bex grew, figured out who she was & what she wanted. Some of us are still trying to figure that out. Rhys was by her side, guiding her & loving her. Mara & Willa were such great side characters & I cannot wait to read their stories.

“So you’re saying that it is love that makes us vulnerable to loss and pain, but love is also the armour that rescues and insulates us from loss and pain.” “Absolutely. In my experience, personally, as well as in my practice, the answer to fear is love.”

What a ride!

This book took me longer than most to read.
The reason for this is it broke my heart.
Within the first few chapters I was already in love with the characters and had sobbed on more than one occasion.
Once I had taken a break to gather my emotions, I picked it up again and I certainly didn't regret that decision.
An absolutely beautifully, heart breaking read.
So well written and researched.
Huge congratulations to Devin Sloan for a fantastic work of art!

First of all…THAT COVER!! I can’t get enough of it; it might just be my favorite romance cover of 2021. Now onto the actual book! Live Again is a slow burn, sentimental romance that pulls at your heartstrings. As the first book in Devin Sloane’s Bridgewater series, it introduces the characters and sets up the rest of the series, but focuses on Bex and Rhys, people who have loved and lost hard. Sloane’s writing was beautiful and poignant, and she handled difficult topics with care and grace.

Bex has a chronic illness and I appreciated the representation of that, while also being an interesting part of the story, not just an add-on like you sometimes find in books. I loved Rhys so much, how he was unafraid to love and accepted Bex as she was. I also loved the friendship of the three women and how that was written.

This story is a deep one. Some of it can be very triggering and there were times it wasn’t easy to get through, only because the writing was so realistic and done so well that my emotions couldn’t take it! I definitely recommend it, as in the end, it was a cathartic read. Much like Bex’s journey, the idea of finding love again and coming to life again was so worth all the hard parts.

5 beautiful stars from me!

Rebecca is still struggling after the devastating loss of her husband Jack 7 years ago. She has her jewellery business and her very close friends but has closed herself off to ever feel love again from another man.

Until she meets rhys.

Rhys is a single father to twins who lost his wife 6 years ago. And I have to say I loved him! Hard working, patient, but straight to the point, he slowly but surely wormed his way into Rebeccas life.

And her heart.

Its not an easy road. Grief is a terrible thing to try and navigate through and Rebecca also suffers with a health condition called Fibromyalgia. This was well researched by the author and you got the feel of just have difficult life can be for her during a flare up. The kindness and tenderness Rhys showed her as he stayed by her side made me swoon.

They bounced perfectly each other. There was so much tension between them, and the heat between the sheets was hot! 🥵😳 But there was also so much love and understanding, they were couple goals.

A story about second chances, finding the Strength to let go of the past and learning to love again, it captured me from the very first page.

Thank you Devin so so much for adding me to your street team and for enabling me to read this ARC! I appreciate it and I really enjoyed it so thank you.

Live Again follows Rebecca Cleaver as she copes with the loss of her husband. This book handles grief and loss in a really delicate and sensitive way and it follows Rebecca’s struggle to find herself after losing her husband. In order to get herself in order, Rebecca creates a bucket list for herself so that she can find new ways to move on and become more herself. One of her bucket list items involves renovating her house which leads her to Rhys who changes her world in the best sense.

The way the romance builds in this book is excellent, both characters develop and change together and separately and the buildup leading to the eventual romance is slow and steady. The characters get to really know each other and build a friendship before moving on to something more. The growth of their relationship also acknowledges that grief is still apart of both of their lives and everything develops really naturally.

Live again also tackles chronic illness and mental health in a really amazing way. Rebecca deals with fibromyalgia and throughout this book you never feel like she’s incapable or hindered of her life experiences. She’s empowered, determined and sassy and while she does struggle and your heart breaks for her in certain situations she overcomes them in really healthy ways.

Overall this book is excellent and I love everything about this book and I really appreciate Devin for allowing me to read this book.

Anyone that knows me, knows I love Dark romance so much so that I tend to stay away from contemporary romance and only read a few authors of this genre.
Devin is now another one on my list to read.

Live Again ripped my heart out and the love and happiness put it back together again.
After reading the blurb I cautiously read it and it had my emotions all over.

Reading Bex go through the Harrowing ordeal of losing her husband and the grief she goes through as well as her physical health declining left me feeling sad and shedding tears.
Bex then decides to write herself a bucket list and the story goes from there. through her list, she meets contractor Rhys who comes to renovate her house.

Rhys is a gorgeous, sweet man who is interested in Bex and vice versa, The slow burn and emotions between the two made me smile, cry and everything in between.
Sloane wrote with such emotion and I loved this book.

I'm going to read book 2 asap.

Devin has done such an amazing job with this book. I absolutely love this story. This book you will need a big box of tissues and a blanket because this story is feeling with emotions that will make you cry throughout the story. she was able to capture the grief and made sure that us the readers we are able to feel all the emotions of reading this story.

If you dont cry within the first two chapter that I dont know what to see.

If you are looking for a romance story that will make you feel things well this is the story for you and would highly recommend this story to anyone in need of a romance read.

This book had all the feels. I think I got to chapter 2 before I couldn't read anymore - I was crying too much. The start of it really broke my heart. Once we met Rhys I stopped crying and started falling in love.
The writing is so descriptive - I could perfectly picture everyone because of the in-depth detail.
Devin perfectly captures the grief and heartache felt losing a loved one and how this evolves over time as you try to move on.
I loved the colourful cast of characters we were introduced to. Everyone deserves girlfriends like Bex has!
If I were to criticise one thing, it would be the endearments all the time. I love how sweet Rhys was, but when things were hot and heavy in the bedroom it felt a bit weak to call Bex sweetness.
The hot and heavy parts were done really well. Graphic enough to give us what we wanted while being tame enough not to be confused with a top shelf rated magazine!
I loved that the characters were in their 40s too. Real people with real life experiences. It just gave the book more credibility!
A fab offering and I cant wait to see where the rest of the series takes us!

This is a debut novel for Devin Sloane and boy did she ever do it right! I've seen other reviews that rated this book 3.5 Stars and I just don't get it. Yes, it started out slow, but Bex's life was slow at that point. She was still traumatized by the death of her husband and the Fibromyalgia that resulted. From someone with Fibro, trust me it takes your life down to a crawl.

This book was so emotional right from the beginning, then Rhys enters the picture and starts bringing Rebecca back to life. He was such an awesome guy! He was patient, careful of her condition and the love and caring just poured out from him. We should all be so lucky to have a Rhys in our lives (I'm one of the lucky ones).

Not only were the main characters incredible, but the secondary characters were well developed and played a pivotal part in the plot. I can't wait to read their stories! The writing by this author is wonderful!

I was gifted a copy of this book. All thoughts are my own.

'Love is the answer to fear.
I chose love, and in choosing love, I chose to live again' - Bex

Bex a widow 7 years later is still trying to recover from her late husbands death and is scared to move forward in her life. when she is introduced to Loving, caring and compassionate Rhys who is also a widow with 2 kids.

There is an automatic attraction between them, but she doesn't know how to let herself be loved again.

This book had all the emotions in it, I truly felt connected to Bexs pain, love, and could understand her emotions and fear, sometimes it had me on the verge of tears.

From the very start as soon as I was introduced to Rhys I fell in love with him, he is loving, caring understanding and everything you would ever want in a man. (and the added bonus of him being a Norse god) Many times during the book I was left daydreaming.

The author Devin is super talented at bringing out emotions through her writing and getting me as the reader to understand the feelings that I am reading.

I guess we have all lost someone that we loved and have that fear of opening up again and allowing ourselves to be loved again as we all deserve, as the fear of being hurt and left behind is hard to deal with.
