This new series offers a dark story of love and revenge. Will Gabriel and Sasha see the light of forgiveness or the darkness of regret? When a mafia/bratva story is well written I can enjoy it. I don't think this was one of those times. Not sure whether it's because it's such a short read, but I found the story and the characters to lack substance. I appreciate that Gabriel is supposed to be dark and twisted and Sasha innocent but it moved way to fast to feel believable - which is what I think a story should do. There was a lot of information about the history. but vigo's character makes no sense - there seems a lack of loyalty to sasha's father disguised as 'protecting the children'. The question is, do I want to see if this redeems itself or carries on with the lacking theme it seems to be on.

This is the first book in the new Cruel Fate series by Kat Scott. There is Gabriel Petrovich who leads his Bratva and is ready to get is revenge against Xerxes Belov who killed his parents. Then there is Sasha the daughter of Xerxes who wants nothing at all to do with the Bratva and is done with the life she has had to suffer through. She is an innocent, but she is what Gabriel needs to extract his revenge. Will he be able to go through with it? or will he be able to put it behind him? This was a good start to this new series. Good dark mafia romance.
I voluntarily wrote this review from reading an advanced copy of this book.
There were elements that could've worked here, but this gave me the ick in a couple ways. Granted we hadn't seen Gabriel and Sasha meet, but we get Gabriel having relations with several people, one before they meet and one right after. It's something I don't enjoy in my romance books. Plus the plus size rep while somewhat okay from Sasha's POV, I absolutely detested the fat-phobia from side characters and Gabriel. Throw in the innocent sheltered virgin suddenly with someone with pretty high kink and bdsm elements and it was just a no for me.
Also, if you're sensitive to the word fat or fatso when it comes to body diversity, don't read this. It was mentioned over 50 times.
Sasha wants to have a normal life away from her family. Gabriel is a rival of her father's and wants revenge for what was done to his family. He sets his sights on using Sasha to get back at her father. However, once he starts seeing Sasha, he can see that she is different from her family. Will this keep him from continuing to use her? What will she do when she realizes who he is?
This is a great start to this series. This is a well written and very entertaining story. Its a book that any book lover would enjoy.
This Bratva revenge story has all the elements you need for a story like this. He is a handsome muscular man seeking to avenge the murder of his father and abuse of his mother by Xerxes Belov. He has set out to woo Sasha Belov, daughter of Xerxes, and ultimately use her to get revenge. I think that Gabriel Petrovich may actually be liking it a little too much. I received an ARC copy from the author and this is my honest review.
i was hooked from start to finish i love that im coming across more books with bbw heroine i came across new aspects of bdsm that i havent seen before that were very interesting , and the end seemed very sinister ! and has be looking forward to the next book , i cant wait !
Sasha is caught in Gabriel's grasp as he tries to use her for revenge against her father because of what happened to his family. What he wasn't expecting was Sasha to be the caliber of woman that she is. This story is an eye opener that kept me glued to the pages. It is filled with erotic moments that centers around BDSM. I am volunteering to leave a review for an ARC of this book.
Part 1 of this story sets up the overall situation and relationship between Gabriel and Sasha. The Bratva make an appearance further setting the plot into motion. This was an interesting scene that is set for what comes next. I can't wait for more.

What a great start to a new series. I was invested in the story from the very beginning. It’s a very interesting, dark mafia romance. Gabriel’s revenge plot backfires on him when he finds that he’s actually attracted to Sasha. I can’t wait to see how this story plays out! *this was a complimentary copy and this is my honest review*
This is the 1st book in the series. It's about Gabriel and Sasha. Gabriel wants revenge because of what Sasha's father did but will he be able to??? Let's find out in the next book. A great read if you're into Mafia books . I received an ARC for my honest voluntary review.
Ugh, didn't like this at all when I got to the end and realized it was cliffhanger. I HATE to be left hanging with books or movies... Would not have bought the book had I known this... The story itself was ok - but...
A story of the Russian mafia, A con who has served time meets the boss’ daughter. What happened next you will need to read and it is quite interesting. Well worth reading if you are into HEA.
A plot for revenge. Gabriel has his eyes on Sasha to extract his revenge on her father. Gabriel plans to have Sasha fall for him to get close to getting at her father. A fast-moving story line.
The story has potential but I literally could not get past the constant use of the word crotch to describe both make and female. That just really took the eroticism down for me.
Ew. um No...Extreme fat shaming. on top of that, the picture on the cover is skinny, the FMC is a redheaded and plus size woman. I got this book for free but man, it sucked.
It gets a little old when Sasha was always referred to as a ‘fat girl’. If it had been mentioned a couple of times, fine, but when it happens every time she’s described? I mean, come on. And then there’s the whole ‘she’s so beautiful *despite* being fat’ thing.
