After suffering a great loss, Elara is finally ready to embrace her power and take on the Crone.
With new magic emerging and secrets about her parents’ pasts finally coming to light, Elara is tasked with fulfilling a prophecy a thousand years in the making.
But when shadows rise to threaten Carnon’s rule over the Darklands, Elara must embrace her place as Queen and enlist allies—new and old—to thwart the evil threatening her borders and unite the realms divided for a millennia.
To Wear a Demon Crown is the third and final book in the King and Coven series. It is an explicitly spicy romantasy featuring fated mates, found family, animal companions, and revenge.
Madeleine Eliot loves to read and write spicy romantasy with all of the best tropes. Dubbed the “Queen of Cozy” by her readers, Madeleine enjoys writing romantasy that is all vibes and spice, with a dash of adventure and world-building. She is always working on her next book, which is probably another spicy romantasy. Follow her adventures and latest works at instagram.com/madeleineeliotwrites
I think TWADC is a fitting conclusion for Elara, Carnon, and their realms! In this final installation, we see Elara really come into her powers and begin to not only trust herself, but believe in herself. In many ways she transforms into a Queen. There were some really powerful moments for Elara in this book, moments that were inspiring and emotional! As for Carnon, he continues to be such an amazing support for Elara, especially after the huge loss in book two.
I think Madeleine managed to answer many of the most pressing questions and mysteries of this series as well! I am certainly satisfied by the resolution! And while there is a guaranteed HEA from the Cozy Queen, it is hard earned and these characters put their all into making it happen.
One thing I really liked about TWADC was getting to know the Lords of the other Daemon Courts. It was really fun and interesting to see how they interact with the MCs as well as each other (👀)! And as always, the amazing wolf companion Akela was a perfect boy and deserves all the head pats and steaks.
The smut in this book was perhaps a little less spicy than the previous book, but I think it was still well done and romantic as always.
The only things that really held me back from giving this the full five stars were that the first half of the book moved a little slowly, and I think I expected a little more depth in Carnon’s character. While I adore his undying love and support of Elara, he sometimes felt a little singularly purposed, that being, Elara’s mate.
The first book was such a fun take on the story of Little Red Riding Hood- but it feels like we lost the plot here. It drags for almost the entire book until everything is sort of wrapped up fairly quickly, with all the action happening in the last 50 pages. Had to go back and reread parts of the first two to remember why I liked this series!
Breaking news. It is being reported that Madeleine Eliot has done it again. I honestly don't how she does it, but no complaints here.
This book was far and away the best of the trio. It had so much action and plenty of plot twists that kept me engaged. The story in this book was so good I almost didn't want any spice scenes to slow me down. Almost. Although, even the spice scenes often included funny banter that kept things light.
Wanna know what my least favorite thing about this book is????? The fact I have to wait for some "clarification" on some of the characters we met. As well as some possible foreshadowing to something bigger??? I sound like a lunatic, but I don't want to risk spoiling anything for anyone.
Just read the dang book, don't make me tell you again.
This book is honestly my favourite out of the three! So many twists and turns. It is EVERYTHING you need and want in a Romantasy. Do yourself a favour and pre-order this now! You do not want to miss out. An absolute pleasure reading, Madeleine Eliot continues to blow my mind not only with her creativity but her clear grasp on what we want as readers.
This third book of the King & Coven Series was - hands down - THE BEST! I had just finished To Break a Demon Curse and stated in my review that I felt like it lacked more action, barely brushing it a bit at the end. I immediately jumped into To Wear a Demon Crown and it DELIVERED the action, tenfold!! I devoured this book and found myself not wanting to put it down for long, household duties fully neglected. Continuing the story of finding out who Elara’s father is, who that makes her, & what she’s capable of was so well told. While having made those discoveries, Carnon & Elara are also trying to take on the Crone, managing the court case Lords, & the difficult task they set for Elara to gain their approval, balancing mated life, grieving the loss of her mother & the many questions left unanswered, learning her magic, and facing yet another betrayal to their kingdom… It sounds like a lot, & it is. But it is all written so well, it kept me on my toes, wanting more & more! What I loved most was even through the trials & tribulations Carnon & Elara faced, they never once lost their passion for one another, keeping their playful banter & shamelessness alive, balancing each other perfectly through it all. In moments when one lacked strength, the other picked it up, remaining a united front. Carnon is a lovesick puppy & it’s adorable, but he’s also extremely seductive and treats his mate like a Queen. He remains a dedicated gentlemen, pushing when needed, but allowing Elara the space/time she needs to figure things out, helping all the way. Elara only becomes more of a badass than she was before, learning & growing into a leader (and more). Their love for one another is pure & true! Gahhh, I just loved it & I love this book so much! I also enjoyed the “found family” aspect that we got more of, getting to know other characters better. I look forward to reading some of the novellas that go along with this series. Special thanks to the author for giving us the action, the mystery, the love, that good spice, and (spoiler) a HEA we all needed! You’re amazing!!
TWADC is B3 of The King and Coven trilogy and what an epic conclusion it is!
Elara’s character growth from B1 to B3 was an epic journey to follow. (That line from Doja Cat’s ‘paint the town red’ song “She a bad lil’ b*tch, she a rebel) kept playing in my head when Elara finally found her confidence and became the queen I so desperately wanted to see 😅
This book is packed full of action, banter, heartfelt moments, character growth, training moments, secrets uncovered, feminine rage, witch & demon magic and SPICE! TWADC is definitely the spiciest book out of the series and ooooft, I’m all here for it 😮💨😈! As sad as I am that TWADC is the end of the King and coven series, it was an amazing conclusion to Elara and Carnon.
I adored this end to Elara and Carnon's story. Their silly banter was ever present, and I loved experiencing Elara's growth as a witch and a leader. I can't wait to see where Madeleine takes the other couple that didn't get their HEA yet. You'll have to read it to find out who I'm talking about!
What a way to end Carnon and Elara’s beautiful story!❤️
Seeing Elara grow into her power and embracing who she is, while Carnon stands beside her and continuously loves and supports her, was heartwarming to read.🥹 This was the perfect ending to this series. Thank you, Madeleine, for this arc copy! ❤️
Following the events of TBADC, Elara is flaming with rage, fighting her grief and continuing to explore her new powers as the Darklands readies for attack from the Coven.
With the love and care of her new found family, we see Elara's continued growth in worldliness, strategy, and power. She finds that she must unravel her hidden past to fully grasp her powers and defeat the Crone.
This journey is full of surprises for both Elara and the reader, some foreboding, others delightful. And, of course, what's a journey without some spice?
Get ready for some nice surprises, just desserts, and a fiery conclusion to the King and Coven series.
This was a great conclusion to the series. This book starts off much heavier, which is to be expected, but once it gains momentum there is plenty of adventure and witty banter! Eliot really does a great job of tying up all of the sub plots and answering outstanding questions from the first two books.
As always the characters were great! Carnon is as charming as ever and Elara really grows into a strong FMC. I also love how several of the side characters are fleshed out and I loved seeing more of Tyr and Brigid.
This was a great wrap to the series but I hope we get more stories in this enchanting world!
This is the third book in the King and Coven series, and picks up after the events of book 2. Elara is angry and struggling to control her new powers. Carnon is more than willing to train her and support her, but her uncontrolled anger is making things difficult between them. Throughout the beginning of this story we see Elara come to grips with her mother’s death, her new powers and the dangers surrounding them. She discovers so much more about her father and her mother’s relationship that helps with her emotional healing. And of course Carnon is with her every step of the way. The Crone is still public enemy number one, but it’s soon obvious that there’s another enemy that’s been lurking in the background biding her time. Our king and queen must band together with their friends to take on old and new threats alike. But it’s hard to fight two separate enemies who may be working together. Carnon and Elara are feeling the pressure of protecting their people, and fulfilling a millennium’s year old prophecy. It will take all of their combined powers, and those of their friends and Allie’s to succeed. This was an excellent conclusion to this series! I really loved the growth that we see in Elara in this book. She’s really come full circle, and finally embraced her powers and abilities. I also loved the glimpses we got of her mother and father. Honestly those scenes made me tear up! And of course, Carnon was amazing as always. This man’s patience and understanding knows no bounds. His faith and confidence in Elara and her abilities was truly a thing of beauty. I definitely recommend this series for those who are fans of fantasy series!
"I've been doing this alone for a long time, Red. But for the first time, I feel like I have the chance to be a better King. With you by my side, we can be more."
In this trilogy finale, we are brought right back into Carnon and Elara's universe of danger, deceit, and a quest for family and power. Elara is trying to train (and fully discover) her true powers, and find who among their court is really an ally. When war becomes imminent, the pair realize that there is no time to waste, and they must attack, or lose their family, friends, and kingdom.
This book was a great wrap up to the series. We are given the answer to (almost) all questions, and rewarded with a beautiful HEA for our favorite couple.
I enjoyed the witty banter of the couple being back, after Elara comes to terms with tragedy in her life. She truly feeds off Carnon's energy, as I'm sure any mate truly would.
I really enjoyed just seeing Elara's journey into who she really was born to become. She is very relatable as a character, with frustrations and thousands of questions. And on the other side of becoming a powerful witch, she is still just girl who needs her girlfriends, meddles and matchmakes, and apreciates a good macaron.
I just finished beta reading To Wear a Demon Crown, the third book in the King and Coven series by Madeleine Eliot, and this is the best one yet!! It's. So. Good!
There's so much action, witty banter, and character growth in this one... not to mention a new slow burn romance and some enemies to lovers. Classic. 🫠
This book is the conclusion to everything that happens in the first two books, and it wraps up everything so nicely! Elara's character growth is perfect, and she's becoming a strong, powerful leader alongside Carnon. There are so many twists that will absolutely blow your mind. 🤯
All I can say is please read these books. It's an amazing, cozy romantasy series! You can binge read the first two books and the first novella now!!
To Wear a Demon Crown gets released on September 21st, but you can pre-order it today! Once you pre-order it, don't forget to click the link in Madeleine's instagram bio to get a special kindle pre-order incentive with proof of purchase! (hint: it's spicy 😏)
A huge thank you to @madeleineeliotwrites for the opportunity to beta read another incredible book!! These are my honest thoughts and opinions.
This book is the final book on the King and Coven series. All three books were written just months (months!!) apart. After the ending of book 2 I was so glad to get this ARC so quickly!!
I loved seeing Elara come into her own. I loved seeing things come full circle. I loved seeing the use of both the witch magic and the demon magic. I loved seeing all the threads coming together and tying everything off so neatly.
Elara is angry in this book. After prior events, she is angry, she is mad, and Carnon is there to help her through it. They prepare to take on the Crone and learn so much along the way both about Elara's power and about themselves. Elara has to learn to deal with her emotions to get control of her magic.
I loved how supportive Carnon was in this book. He encouraged Elara to do what she needed to do and never doubted her. He let her take care of things herself and make her own choices. Although he did question her sanity when she enquired about a certain snake-ish hemipene situation 😂😂 and teased her relentlessly!
If you are looking for a cosy, witchy read with a guaranteed HEA I highly recommend this series. It will definitely be on my re-read list for whenever I want something that gives all the warm fuzzies.
TWADC was a beautiful finish to this series!! The emotions and the banter were all showing strong!!
I loved watching Elara use her anger to fuel her learning, she was going to do whatever it took to avenge her mother. Elara's character growth was so exponential in this book, she really grew into the witch that everyone around her knew she could be.
Carnon with his dirty mind/mouth help to ease the tension growing in the world around them. But he was so faithful and truly in love with Elara. He stood by her side and was nothing but encouraging when it came to her learning more about herself.
The Demon Lords truly showed their true colors in this book, I loved getting to see more of each Lord and how they actually fit into the story.
I loved the twists and turns that this book entailed; you learn so much about the backstory of the world. Eliot did an amazing job brining this story to an end, the way she was able to tie together everything was perfect.
Thank you so much for the ARC, I loved this series from beginning to end!!
It was so hard to settle for just one quote! I could easily list ten more. Or twenty.
A huge thank you to the amazing Madeleine Eliot for the ARC of "To Wear a Demon Crown". Still, this is my honest review and in no way influenced by the author. In this series final of the "King and Coven series" Elara finds her inner warrior queen and lets her loose in the battle against her evil grandmother and other enemies. For me, it's the perfect conclusion - and maybe even the best book - in the trilogy. You see, it has everything I wished to read before we say goodbye to Carnon and Elara: character growth and self-acceptance, plot and unraveling secrets and we don't want to forget the spice! They are such a dream team and couple! Luckily, some side characters get their own story, so even if it's now time for goodbye to the fabulous Snake King and his lovely Witch Queen, it's not yet time for a farewell to the world Madeleine created!
What. A. Conclusion. To Wear A Demon Crown has soooo much going for it from start to finish. It pretty much starts up almost immediately after To Break a Demon Curse, which left Elara reeling after the loss of her mother at the hand of The Crone. So that sets the base and tone of much of this book: healing, finding yourself again, discovering who you are when you have new powers, coming together as a team against new and old enemies, and OF COURSE, Elara and Carnon's relationship becoming the strongest its ever been. Elara really comes into her in this book. She accepts who she is and learns to hone her abilities and we all love a powerful queen. Literally ;) Also love seeing more of the side characters like Brigid and Cerridwen, even Lucifer and Pierre. While this book is wonderfully plot driven and focusing on action and resolution, there are still plenty of spicy scenes and I am hereeee for them. Madeleine is the Queen of Cozy and as always she delivers on her HAE.
Check this book out if you love: *fated mates *witches and demons *Awesome magical systems *prophecies *animal side-kicks
****Third and final in the series. Check out To hunt a demon king first!
The Queen of Cosy strikes again! An exciting conclusion and happy ending for all! It is amazing to look back on all three books and Elara’s transformation, I loved it!
Of course, the side characters are a big part of this story, but I also love the world building and the magic. There are stakes and lurking danger, but nothing our heroine and her partner in crime cannot overcome together. Their relationship is built on mutual respect, not to mention sweet romance, humour, and spice!
All of these elements come together to provide everything you need for a cosy, witchy fantasy romance! This book completes the trilogy, but if you want more, check out To Claim A Daemon Lord (out now) and To Sway A Demon Heart (out October 13th). These novellas focus on side couples and are a fantastic way to tide you over until her next series kicks off later this year.
What is there to say other than this was a very satisfying conclusion to King & Coven. Loved seeing Elara and Carnon grow as a couple, one of the best highlights of this series. It was endearing to see how much Carnon adored(more like was madly in love) and respected his mate. The way he trusted her judgement, and sought out her opinions. Totally one of my favorite leading men this year, for sure. I wasn't expecting so many things that came to light, but was very happy about it. Amazing storytelling and great world building. Loved it, I really hope we get to see more of some of the side characters in the future (crossing fingers).
“You are my Queen, and only death will take me from you.” 😍
To Wear a Demon Crown by @madeleineeliotwrites is a wonderfully thrilling conclusion to the King and Coven series!
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Gosh, where do I begin!?!?! The story was top-notch, the world-building was incredible, and all the characters were amazing!!! It was remarkable to see Elara’s growth and Carnon’s utter adoration/support/undying love for her. No spoilers here, but some of the revelations in this book are heartbreaking and made me cry!!! Also, all of the sex scenes had me fanning myself (cue the James McAvoy gif 😜). Carnon and Elara have my heart and it saddened me to let them go (at least for now). I am so excited for Madeleine’s next series and cannot wait to devour more of her writing!!! 😈✨💚👑
This was the perfect ending to an amazing series! I mean, I’m obviously hoping to see more of these characters in the future because they have a piece of my heart.
The story just flows so naturally and Elara’s development has reached its peak. She’s so strong, smart and honestly, just fun to read. Carnon’s banter balances out her anxiety and insecurities. Together they are the perfect King and Queen.
Madeleine has easily become one of my favorite writers. She makes me fall in love with the characters, magic, and story.
This was a damn epic ending for an incredible series. I loved that the banter between Elara and Carnon didn't fade through the series like so many enemies to lovers series do. I also really enjoyed seeing this new side of Elara as the Queen and how much she has grown through her whole arc. The added layer of Brigid and Tyr surprised me, but I am here for it because it was so fun. I think this one had a bit more of an action packed plot than the first two and I just couldn't put it down, it was really nice to piece the whole backstory of her parents together and I really went through the whole roller coaster of emotions on it and it is so worth it. Excellent series.
It was a surprisingly good series, with a very intriguing world. I had issues with Elara's character. I didn't really connect or like her. Can't say exactly why. I feel like there are some things left unexplained but I don't think I'll read the novella. The story is well written and the author hits all the right tropes, so I would definitely recommend this series to fans of the genre.
This is, hands down, the best novel to date. There was never a dull moment and the action didn’t take more than half the book to pick up. Elara was confident in herself, her mate and friendships. This was absolutely perfect.
Spider wench got what was coming. As did the Crone. The Hag was the best surprise.
Madeleine shines in this, you’re absolutely perfection Cozy Queen.
Ugh my heart feels so good finishing this series! Eliot is crank in’ out the BANGERS isn’t she!? I think this one may be my favorite of the series... Madeline has such a fun writing style and makes fantasy characters feel so relatable, even the animals. The banter is top notch, aesthetic is soulful but don’t worry… the spice is SPICING, just like it should. It’s hot, in so many ways.
"You are an unexpected surprise, Red," He whispered, "and I'm not sure I deserve you."
The final book in the King and Coven Series, wow, what a ride it's been. This series is so cozy and spicy/sweet I'm sad to see it come to an end, but oh, what a satisfying end it is!
I had been struggling to finish this book, it was moving too slow for me and I had a difficult time wanting to read it in order to finish it. The story picks up about 50 pages before the end. I'm glad I finished.
