Claiming a dragon is as easy as a single touch, but claiming his heart is another matter entirely.
The tribes have been dying beneath the desert sun for as long as they can remember. With fewer and fewer males birthed, there is little hope of survival. Humanity is doomed.
The yearly blooming is a season of fertility and new life—and the time when the males choose new brides. But Elliya has no desire to become another wife amongst many to a spoiled man. She longs for more. She longs for love.
When the Red Star appears in the sky on the night she is to be chosen, Elliya knows it is her chance to make her own choice. She ventures out beneath the blood moon to prove the old legends true—to claim a dragon as her mate. But even if she can forge the legendary bond with her dragon, can she win the most important prize of all?

VENYS NEEDS MEN To Touch a Dragon by Naomi Lucas To Desire a Dragon by Amanda Milo To Tame a Dragon by Tiffany Roberts To Seduce a Dragon by Poppy Rhys
Tiffany Roberts is the pseudonym for Tiffany and Robert Freund, a husband and wife writing duo. Tiffany was born and bred in Idaho, and Robert was a native of New York City before moving across the country to be with her. The two have always shared a passion for reading and writing, and it was their dream to combine their mighty powers to create the sorts of books they want to read. They write character driven sci-fi and fantasy romance, creating happily-ever-afters for the alien and unknown.
The Heroine starts off this book lamenting about how she doesn't get to choose the man for her. she doesn't get to choose her mate. That shes forced to be a breeder for the sake of the clan... but then hallelujah! Right before she's about to be chosen, it's the red heat comet! She doesn't have to be forced to mate with this dumb human male anymore! Now she has the power of choice again! Hurrah! Yes, her choice to find a dragon, force it to mate with her and give her a baby. Yes, this is good, this is the noble thing to do! She is free to choose to subjugate another, mythical creature, to the same fate she had thrust (heh) upon her!
WHAT!? How is this OKAY?!?! How is this a start to a romance?
Also, she had no fucking idea touching the dragon would force it to change shape. Was she just gonna offer herself up to be fucking impaled by the dragon? Thats how you DIE BY THE DICK. She basically just ran up to it naked, slathered her own arousal over her body (ew) and threw herself down in front of him spread eagle and was like "SUPRISE, BITCH! You are now trapped in my spell, FUCK ME!"
Officially all of my boxes have been checked by this book:
Dragons? Check.
A female who is tough and BadA$$ and can handle herself and don't take no lip? CHeck
Relationship strruuuggggllleeesss ? CHEck
Steamy steam that's ultra steammmmmyy (and from H and H's point of view)? CHECk
And finally,
A friggin' map at the beginning of the story? Check check Mutha Effin' check homie.
This story was all the struggles, all the steams, and all the heart-fire warming a gal needs in these difficult times. Let's be all real here, this couple does NOT start off on the right foot. And boy is there some serious back and forth feelings going down here. But I LIVE for that kind of relationship struggle. And good giddy goodness is it fuggin' Stupendous.
And the HEA? Fuggin' perfecto-mundo, homie.
Bonus (that I hope isn't a huge spoiler but JUST to be safe, I will mark it as one cause I'm not gonna be that person):
Was that a spoiler? Who even knows. Just go read this, I promise its worth every single second of enjoyment.
The couple in this book had such an interesting dynamic for having a mate bond - and such serious consequences for both of them. I liked that the women in this book were the powerful ones, simply because they outnumbered the men. It was still a very dystopian dynamic that ended up favoring the men. The only thing that could have improved this book was a more significant growth arc for the FMC. The MMC grew a lot, as he desperately needed too.
Another reviewer called the male dragon lead of this literal star-crossed lovers book a randy curmudgeon, and I couldn't agree more. He is irritable and irascible and grouchy. He simply cannot comprehend he is mated to a human. In my opinion, it was the pure arrogance of Falthyris and the pig-headedness of Elliya that drove the story. Lots of steam, but loads of personality as well.
Big , huge Dragon . Check ! Puny , easily crushed female . Check ! Loads of hilarious scenes that will stay with you long after the story is finished. Loads of heartbreaking and misunderstandings by two species that know little about each other . Lots of sexy , rock breaking, steamy, sex scenes. My kind of book !!! Falthyris is a world class Dragon who bested All Dragons in his territory . He sees all creatures as insignificant , and beneath him . Because of his size , he is correct. He reeled himself rousing from his deep slumber because of the , " Red comet " . It comes by every hundred years of so, and causes many creatures to go into a mating frenzy . This is beneath Falthyris ! HE is the ruler of his destiny .. Ha ha , famous last words !! Elliya is a Huntress . She and her sisters take care of their tribes by providing food and clothing. On this particular night , the red comet passes, and , if the legends are true , one of them may be able to catch a Dragon man ..... Elliya has no doubt that she will succeed. But after finding Falthyris, will she even want him ?? Or want to throw him back ???!!! I found this book to be a very nice read, and an on to the next in this series . I have also read the SONHARDA Series ,and these wonderful Authors are spectacular !!!
Meddlesome humans disrupting the lives of arrogant dragons is one of my new favorite things. Especially when the meddlesome human has no idea how meddlesome they're being. Or that they're getting a devoted, protective mate (eventually, at least) who is still an arrogant dragon at heart.
Elliya sets out to claim herself a dragon and she definitely gets one. Falthyris is NOT pleased to have his dragon-dom stolen from him by her touch and he isn't afraid of letting her know this. Which isn't a great start to a relationship, frankly. In fact, Falthyris's disdain for humanity in general is something he REALLY needs to get over before he and Elliya can be real mates.
Considering he's a several thousands year old dragon, it does take him a while to readjust his thinking and accept that there's more to humanity than the narrow view he's afforded himself before.
Like I said, arrogant dragons having their entire worldview disrupted by pesky humans is FUN. So fun. It might be a bumpy road to happiness, but they get there eventually.
Such a fierce dragon! How does one convince an angry dragon that his reduced stature is, in fact, an improvement? Elliya does not have an easy task ahead. Under the influence of The Red Star, Falthyris simply is not reasonable. It took some time for the randy curmudgeon to realize what a gem he had found. I love this story, and seeing the transformation in their relationship as time passes. I know all relationships have their ups and downs: this one is no exception. Read and enjoy what transpires as they wend their way to a HEA.
Elliya's tribe has only 5 men, forcing the women into polygamous marriages. She's granted a reprieve from an unwanted marriage when the Red Star appears, signaling she can go on the Crimson Hunt--seek out a dragon as a mate. Dragons are also affected by the Red Star, but to Falthyris, it's a curse to be fought. But the "Dragonbane" is strong, and when he encounters Elliya, the rut takes over, and he's unable to resist her--even though he hates her.
To Tame a Dragon is about a human and dragon falling in love despite their lust and distrust. There IS a story, and it's a good one, but there is a lot of sex in this book. If you removed the sex, the book would probably be only half as long. This really belongs more in the erotica category than the romance category.
So this was basically porn without plot in my opinion. There was some story but honestly not a lot. I also didn’t get much from the storyline and found it boring. It was overall an okay book but I honestly stayed around for the spice because it was just that good 😮💨
Yet another excellent book from the Venys world, this time by Tiffany Roberts. The individual author’s in this foray are totally bringing it on!
Elliya… what a brave, feisty little huntress for her tribe she is. Not satisfied to be a breeder for the only adult male in the tribe, when the red comet appears in the sky, presenting Elliya with the opportunity to go seeking a dragon mate, she does. The Crimson Hunt as it’s called saves her at the last minute.
Falthyris is one bad a** dragon, and when Elliya lures him in with her scent the fireworks go off, and not all in a good way! Falthyris is P***ED big time when Elliya’s touch changes him to human form. HE.HATES.IT.
So much additional world building going on here, and glimpses into dragon, human history. It turned out to be a difficult journey for Falthyris, before he came around to the realization of just how much Elliya was his true mate, and how much he loved her. May I state the SEX was fan-tastic!
It isn’t often when a story can bring a tear to my eye but there’s a dramatic scene, among many here that did just that. Can’t give anything away but if you’re a mush like me you’ll know when you read it.
Isn’t that what good writing is all about! Makes you feel the characters, and puts you into the story, standing on the sidelines viewing, and feeling it all.
Geez, could this series get any better? Up next is Poppy Rhys. CAN’T WAIT!!!!!
3.5 stars This was short, sweet and gave me a ton of what I’m looking for in a story like this (but scaled down to accommodate the size of the book). Some world building, characters with back stories that are as convincing as they need to be for the story, monsters that feel like monsters, and a twist on the instalove trope. Wish it was longer, more developed. Can’t wait for the next one
Interestingly, I started off disliking the hero and liking the heroine, but by the end of the book that had flipped. Without giving too much away it felt incomplete. They mostly talk to only each other, monologue and have sex. I expected to love this book because, get real dragons, but it felt so one sided with him changing everything about himself (thoughts, attitude where he lives) and her just doing her without regard to the impact or considering what wants he might have. She gives up nothing and nothing changes for her. Blah.
*WARNING* contains explicit adult situations This is how I would think most dragons would be, arrogant and full of themselves. I'm a little confused about the timing of this story, but that unimportant to the story. I liked the storyline. I think it's awesome that the females of the village do all the hunting and such. Even though this Dragon is arrogant and extremely unlikable through most of the story, you'll like him in the end..
This was a good book, and a good read! As always, absolutely loved this author's work! However, the MMC was so irritating and annoying, I had a hard time reading through it.
Loved this book. The world building is awesome, the romance was sweet, the intimacy was hot and the writing was fantastic! Definitely recommend if your a fan of romance and fantasy!
